Description

2023 Monarch Festival

Sunday September 10, Noon-5pm

Volunteers are needed to help set up and tear down, guide parking, greet participants, assist participants at education stations (training provided), plant native plants and more.  Click Here to sign up for a shift.

This year we're also looking for Spanish speaking interpreters so that we can really celebrate the cultural connection that Monarchs have with Mexico as well. Invite your family and friends to volunteer and share the link!  Find a shift that fits your volunteer style here:    https://signup.com/go/jzXKjLg

Join LRWP in celebrating all things Monarch Butterfly! Help us spread the word about the importance of creating habitat for monarchs, and inspire our community to take action. There are many ways to help! Highlighting monarchs’ lifecycle and their incredible transformation, the Monarch Festival includes a variety of programs and activities: – Displays of live monarchs at different stages of their lifecycle, from caterpillars to adults – Monarch butterfly tagging prior to release – Educational presentations, outdoor learning stations and hands-on activities for all ages – Hikes on interpretive trails lined with tall native wildflowers to watch these iconic butterflies nectaring or roosting almost close enough to touch – Plant giveaways – visitors will be offered varieties of milkweed, the only plant on which monarchs lay their eggs, to plant either at Eagle Marsh or take home.
