New NHEG Volunteer Opportunities Available for Cartoonist/Graphic Designer, Clip Art Creator/Photo Editor, Graphic Designer/Artist, and Photographer/Artist
New Heights Educational Group (NHEG) has announced several new virtual volunteer opportunities, which are described below. Submission instructions follow the descriptions.
The Cartoonist/Graphic Designer will work with any of the following programs: Publisher, CS5, or any Microsoft Word publication or other software of their choosing. They will help create cartoons/graphics for the NHEG magazine and comic book. The comic book will cover serious issues faced by society, using Kelly Bear press articles as the storyline. The position can require compiling large amounts of imagery into documents and advertisements. Major Duties: Create animated cartoon characters and help with layout of comic book, magazine, flyers and other publications. Prepare model drawings and sketches of characters and draw special effects for animation projects. Attend online or in-person meetings. Work as a part of a team to accomplish goals. Create cartoon scenes and characters for our comic book. Edit images and advertisements. Training: Prior experience with cartoonist, imagery and graphic design is a must.
Clip Art Creator/Photo Editor
The Clip Art Creator/Photo Editor will work with any of the following programs: Paint, Google Photos or other software of their choosing. They will help with photo editing, adding names/initials to photos, scaling photos and amending lighting and other effects. The Clip Art Creator/Photo Editor will use our photo database to create clip art for internal use. Major Duties: Work as part of a team to accomplish goals. Edit images and photos. Training: Prior experience editing photos is required.
Under the supervision of the Founder/Executive Director and/or office manager or other staff member, the Graphic Designer/Artist is responsible for assisting with creating photography and graphics for events, online and in-person classes, our magazine, radio shows and meetings. This can include compiling large amounts of imagery into documents and advertisements; helping design brochures, letterheads, logos, etc.; and creating slideshows and PowerPoint presentations as needed. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in graphic design (or similar field), 1-2 years of professional experience, organizational skills, solid computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Communication skills: Must have good interpersonal skills and be detail-oriented.
We are looking for a virtual or in-person photographer to take nature shots and other pictures for our monthly newsletter and annual yearbook. The Photographer/Artist will work with any of the following programs: Publisher, CS5, or any Microsoft Word publication or other software of their choosing. They will help with creating photography, advertisements and graphics for events, online and in-person classes and meetings. This can include compiling large amounts of imagery into documents and advertisements. Major Duties: Create or take pictures for our website, magazine, yearbooks, authored books, flyers and other publications. Attend online/in-person meetings. Work as a team to accomplish goals. Edit images and advertisements. Training: Prior experience with photography, imagery and graphic design is a must.
