Do you love working with people? We have an annual Potluck Party coming up for our Peer Support Group and we need your help on Thursday, July 22 from 11:30am to 3:30pm! We are looking for 8 volunteers who will be willing to assist with serving food, making plates, and guiding some of our consumers who are low-vision through the meal line and back to their seats. This can be an individual volunteer endeavor or a Team Event if you would like to bring your co-workers and peers to participate in this special event.
The League's Peer Support Group is a group of lively people (most age 55+ who are blind or low-vision) who get together 3 times per month for socialization, educational and advocacy activities. Being able to look to one's peers who have similar experiences as you or may be going through something you have experienced or challenged with (such as difficult landlords, accessing public spaces, etc.) is a great way for you to be connected to a strong network and community as well as maintain or increase independence.
