World Art Day Celebration at Science Central
World Art Day is a global celebration of creativity, culture, and artistic expression, observed annually to honor the vital role art plays in education, innovation, and community life. While the official observance falls earlier in the month, we’re celebrating on April 18—and turning it into a hands-on, interactive experience that blends creativity with discovery.

Join us for a day where art meets science. Create your own masterpieces, learn about influential artists, and explore how scientific principles shape color, texture, materials, and design in the world around us. Discover the powerful connections between creativity and curiosity—and how both drive innovation!
Event highlights include:
Chalk art experiences
Texture and mixed-media painting
Local artist demonstrations
Art–science exploration activities
And more interactive creative stations
Celebrate imagination, expression, and discovery with us—because science and art don’t just coexist, they inspire each other.
Volunteers: Do you have an interest in art and experience with kids?
We're hosting a STEAM Sidewalk Studio, a Quiet Creations Lab, Messy Methods: Exploring STEAM, and Pieces of the Bigger Picture - Interactive Art Piece. There will also be demonstrations in the Demonstration Theater and Science on a Sphere -- and our new Planetarium! Our Education department can use help from volunteers in pulling together this amazing day! Let your inner child loose as you help the kids create their art!
Each volunteer will help at an art station stocked with art supplies. The volunteer will help the Education staff to assist the budding artists in making their masterpieces.
Thank you for volunteering -- we truly appreciate you!
