Catholic Charities in Fort Wayne is looking for volunteer drivers to help provide transportation to our refugee clients. Many of our refugee clients do not have access to transportation, making it difficult to run errands such as going to the grocery store or the bank, going to job interviews, or even going to the gym. As a volunteer driver, you can have a positive impact on our refugee clients as they settle into the Fort Wayne community. The schedule is based on when volunteers are available to provide round trip transportation. The volunteer would use their own personal vehicle and gas.
Interested volunteers must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a valid driver’s license and current license and vehicle registration
- Have appropriate insurance requirements for vehicle in place ($100,000/$300,000)
- Undergo a Motor Vehicle Record Check (MVR)
- Take our online training: Defensive Driving Training “Be Smart—Drive Safe”, as well as attend volunteer orientation and other trainings as needed.
