Who We Are

One K9 Corp is a veteran-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people rebuild their lives through connection, recovery, wellness, mentorship, community engagement, and practical support. Founded by disabled combat veterans and community advocates, One K9 was built on a simple belief: No one should have to face life’s challenges alone. What began as grassroots outreach focused on feeding the hungry, supporting veterans, and helping individuals in crisis has grown into a multifaceted community organization serving Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio through direct outreach, suicide prevention initiatives, recovery support, workforce development, fitness and wellness programming, service dog programs, and community engagement activities. At the center of our mission is The F.O.B. (Forward Operating Base) — a veteran-led community hub designed to provide stability, purpose, accountability, and connection for veterans, families, individuals in recovery, and community members seeking a positive path forward. We believe that healing happens through relationships. We believe that recovery is possible. We believe that purpose can be restored. We believe that community saves lives. Every day, our volunteers, board members, partners, and supporters work together to create opportunities for people to reconnect with others, strengthen their physical and mental well-being, develop practical skills, and access the resources needed to move toward long-term stability and success. Our leadership team includes disabled combat veterans, healthcare professionals, veteran advocates, recovery leaders, nonprofit professionals, and community stakeholders who bring both lived experience and professional expertise to the mission. Unlike many organizations, our leadership is actively involved in the work. We serve meals, conduct outreach, mentor veterans, support individuals in recovery, build partnerships, host community programs, and engage directly with the people we serve. Today, One K9 supports thousands of community interactions annually through programs focused on: * Veteran support and suicide prevention * Recovery and reintegration * Fitness and wellness * Workforce development * Mechanical training and mentorship * Service dog programs * Gaming and peer engagement * Community outreach * Family support * Crisis intervention and resource navigation Everything we do is guided by our commitment to service, accountability, compassion, and action. We are not simply an organization. We are a community. A place where veterans find purpose. A place where recovery finds support. A place where people find connection. A place where no one fights alone. Veterans Are The Mission. No Ego. No Wrong Door. No One Turned Away.
