AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparent Program

Foster Grandparents are volunteers ages 55+ who serve in an educational setting as role models, mentors, and friends to at-risk children. Lutheran Life Villages fosters these relationships through an innovative partnership with AmeriCorps. Step up to give children the support they deserve!

Mentor and guide students to higher academic achievement by building positive relationships through literacy, social and emotional support, and intergenerational connection. The Foster Grandparent Program connects role models like you with local children in your community ages infant through third grade. Use your talents in local FWCS and EACS schools, Head Start programs, childcare centers, and after-school programs! Grandparents choose their volunteer hours and receive travel reimbursement. Volunteers that qualify may be eligible for a small hourly payment. Benefits also include learning new skills, developing new relationships, improving your health and wellness, and giving back to your community!
