PAL Fort Wayne (PALFW)

Who We Are

For nearly 70 years, the Police Athletic League (PAL) of Fort Wayne and Allen County has been dedicated to creating positive opportunities for youth through sports, mentorship, and community engagement. Founded in 1956, PAL believes every child deserves the chance to play, learn, grow, and succeed—regardless of their family's financial situation.

Today, PAL serves hundreds of youth each year through affordable and scholarship-supported programs including football, basketball, boxing, volleyball, cheerleading, tennis, pickleball, after-school activities, Parent Night Out, and other community events. Our programs focus on more than athletics—they teach teamwork, leadership, respect, confidence, discipline, and life skills while building positive relationships with caring adult mentors and volunteers.

What We Do

The Police Athletic League (PAL) of Fort Wayne and Allen County is dedicated to providing safe, positive, and affordable opportunities that help young people build confidence, character, and leadership through sports, mentoring, and community involvement.

At PAL, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to participate, regardless of their family's financial situation. Thanks to the support of volunteers, community partners, and donors, we provide programs that promote healthy lifestyles, teamwork, respect, discipline, and meaningful relationships with caring adult role models.

Our programs include:

  • Spring and Fall Youth Football
  • Basketball
  • Boxing
  • Volleyball
  • Cheerleading
  • Tennis and Pickleball
  • Parent Night Out
  • After-school and youth enrichment programs
  • Summer camps and sports clinics
  • Community events and service opportunities

While athletics are at the heart of many of our programs, PAL is about much more than sports. We create an environment where young people feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Every practice, game, event, and mentoring opportunity helps youth develop life skills, build lasting friendships, and strengthen connections with their families, the community, and local law enforcement.

The Difference a Volunteer Makes

When "Jacob" first came to PAL, he was shy, lacked confidence, and had never played organized sports. He struggled to make friends and often kept to himself.

After joining a PAL football team, he was welcomed by volunteer coaches who believed in him, encouraged him, and taught him that success isn't measured only by wins and losses. They showed him the importance of commitment, teamwork, perseverance, and supporting others.

As the season progressed, Jacob's confidence grew. He made new friends, became a leader among his teammates, and even began helping younger players during practices. His parents shared that PAL gave him a place where he truly felt like he belonged.

Today, Jacob continues to stay active in sports, is more confident in school, and hopes to become a coach one day so he can inspire other children the same way his PAL coaches inspired him.

Stories like Jacob's are possible because volunteers choose to invest their time in young people. Whether you're coaching, mentoring, helping at events, or assisting with Parent Night Out, your time can have a lasting impact on a child's future.

A few hours each month can help change a life. Join PAL and become part of something bigger than a game—help build stronger kids, stronger families, and a stronger Fort Wayne community.
