Who We Are
The mission of Literacy for Companionship is to educate and empower children with the skills and confidence necessary to be good readers while helping them understand the importance of showing animals compassion and empathy.
What We Do
LfC offers three free programs to our community. Pawsitive Book Club: The Pawsitive Book Club is all about bringing the joy of reading to life! Each week, over the course of a month, members enjoy reading, art projects, worksheets, and games all tailored around the book of the month. LfC in the Community: The goal of LfC in the Community is to teach empathy and compassion using specialized stories. Each animal tale is accompanied by open-ended discussions and animal-themed art projects. This program is FREE and each child receives a goodie bag for participating. LfC at the Shelter: Children can join us at one of our partner shelters. Children can come to the shelter and read to the animals once a month.
