Who We Are

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is an advocacy organization for those living in nursing homes. We cover all 9 counties of Northeast Indiana and is State and Federally funded.

The LTCOP is authorized by the Federal Older Americans Act.  This act requires every state, through the Office on Aging, to create a statewide ombudsman program to “investigate and resolve complaints made by, or on behalf of, older individuals who are residents of long-term care facilities” (including nursing homes, assisted living and board care facilities).

“Ombudsman” is a Swedish word meaning citizen representative. A Long-Term Care Ombudsman serves as an advocate who seeks to resolve complaints made by, or on behalf of, people who are consumers of Long-Term Care services.
