Who We Are

Our mission is to reach out in the heart of the city by "caring for the Shepherd's people, daring to be the Shepherd's hands, and sharing the Shepherd's love." As a Christian organization, we are motivated by the love of Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, to care for others. We seek to do so by daring to go beyond perpetuating "hand-out culture" by engaging neighbors in meeting the needs of the community, providing opportunities for neighbors to serve one another, and providing educational opportunities so that people caught in the cycle of poverty might gain skills to help them effect positive change in their own life.

What We Do

We offer educational, health, and family support through our weekly programs and special annual events. Educational support for students is available at a weekly homework and tutoring club on Tuesdays. Eight-week sessions of healthy cooking classes are available and open to the public throughout the year thanks to the HEAL initiative. Community meals happen at different points in the year, as well as health resource fairs, diaper give-aways, and health screenings.
