Assist in organizing event decor including but not limited to linens, florals, center pieces, and other items stored in our warehouse location. Also, assist with packing an unpacking rental orders. Pickup returned orders from the Gown Garden and take to warehouse for unpacking. This could include lifting, folding linens, organizing items, sorting, inventorying, etc.  Hours are flexible.

From This Day Forward is looking for someone who can help us with marketing our organization including social media.  Our website describes who we are, our mission statement and services.  Hours are flexible.

Seeking someone to join our team to focus on our Create for a Cause projects. Over the years, we have accumulated craft supplies and would like to share our surplus supplies with organizations who would be able to recycle the items into something creative.  We also hold our own events where we gather crafters to help make items so that they can be donated to those in need.  Duties would include but be limited to organizing events and finding agencies who are in need of our surplus craft supplies. Volunteer hours are flexible.

At Heart to Heart Hospice, we know there are different ways to
show care for our terminally ill patients, and sometimes we are
able to involve a very special pet. Pets, through animal-assisted
therapy, provide faithful companionship, comfort and affection.

How can they interact with hospice patients?

•Sitting quietly near a patient, so the patient can enjoy their presence
•Playing fetch with a patient, going after a ball or toy
•Being talked to, petted, or held, per patient preference
•Enjoying performing tricks, such as 'roll over' 'sit' or 'shaking hands'

There are proven benefits to hospice pet therapy for those at

From time to time, Heart to Heart Hospice cares for patients who don’t have family close by, or whose loved ones need to step away briefly but don’t want them to be alone during their final moments. We are looking for someone with a flexible schedule who can sit with a patient near the end of life, offering comfort simply through their presence. This role is best suited for a compassionate individual who is comfortable providing support and presence during the end-of-life journey.

We would welcome the chance to talk more with you about this meaningful opportunity and the difference you could make.

Spread awareness about the organization throughout the community. Network with resources and share/speak about our mission with churches, non-profit organizations in and around Allen County and at events. Help distribute information about From This Day Forward, the Gown Garden boutique and the Bridge and Brook Garden venue.  Hours are flexible and can be virtual.

Our garden venue is all outdoors and is in need of ongoing maintenance.  There are  many plants and trees. This is perfect for families to volunteer together! Can be done at anytime that fits your schedule!

At the Gown Garden, assist customers in finding affordable formal wear, semi-formal wear, jewelry, shoes and other items. Assist brides with finding their 'Say YES to the dress' gown and accessories. Assist with basic boutique upkeep including incoming donations. Help as needed with special events throughout the year. Hours are flexible.

Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 9:00 am - noon or 10 am - 1 pm. A Baby's Closet needs help getting the store ready for customers. This includes counting baby clothing items, hanging clothes, and putting outfits together. If you love baby clothes, you will love this opportunity.

United With Love office volunteers assist the Office Manager in many positions. Available volunteer positions include receptionist, interviewer, and processor.  The receptionist is generally the first point of contact for our neighbors in need. The receptionist receives requests for help, the interviewer screens the requests, verifies the need, and then refers the request to a United with Love program or ministry, church ministry, or community agency. The processor then records the information gathered during the interview process and the outcomes and referrals made. After the initial assistance, a specialized United With Love interviewer follows up to ensure the need was met and offers continued support in the form of prayer, additional referrals, and potentially even one-to-one coaching.

This particular opportunity is for Wednesdays from 9 am-1 pm.

Volunteers of the United With Love Food Pantry assist neighbors with the selection of food products for their households. By providing a range of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, canned goods, and dairy products, our food pantry aims to alleviate the pressures of accessing healthy food for neighbors in Huntington County. Volunteers assist with the day-to-day activities of the pantry, ensuring a welcoming, well stocked, and hygienic shopping experience. Some Food Pantry volunteers also assist with the collection of food from local donation organizations. 

This particular opening is a need for a food pantry receptionist. The food pantry receptionist greets neighbors as they enter the food pantry for appointments, has neighbors sign needed paperwork, and processes their paperwork in print and in the computer system. This opening is available on Tuesdays from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. for a volunteer to serve weekly in this capacity.

As a meal volunteer, you will purchase the ingredients and prepare a meal for our guests. Whether you come as a family or with friends, coworkers, classmates, or teammates, preparing a meal for our guests is a meaningful and rewarding experience. You can choose to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner, either in our beautiful gourmet kitchen or by bringing food from a commercial kitchen or restaurant. 

Volunteers typically cook for 12–15 people at our Lutheran location and 10-12 people at our Dupont location. We don’t require you to accommodate specific dietary needs, guests are always welcome to prepare something else from the pantry if needed.

Making a difference to families staying at the Hope's Harbor!  

We’re looking for a passionate and knowledgeable gardener to take the lead in planning and maintaining our garden spaces. This role is ideal for someone interested in leading a fruit and vegetable garden, but some flower planting and planning can also be incorporated. The Lead Gardener will decide what to plant, where, and when, and will create a seasonal care schedule that outlines tasks like watering, weeding, pruning, and harvesting. Once a plan is in place, additional volunteers will be recruited to help carry it out, with the Lead Gardener providing guidance and support. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys both the creative and practical sides of gardening and wants to help our garden thrive year-round. 

**We are hoping to fill this position before May 1, so plans for what to plan and when can be ready for Spring 2026!

World Art Day Celebration at Science Central 

World Art Day is a global celebration of creativity, culture, and artistic expression, observed annually to honor the vital role art plays in education, innovation, and community life. While the official observance falls earlier in the month, we’re celebrating on April 18—and turning it into a hands-on, interactive experience that blends creativity with discovery.

We're hosting a STEAM Sidewalk Studio, a Quiet Creations Lab, Messy Methods: Exploring STEAM, and Pieces of the Bigger Picture - Interactive Art Piece.  There will also be demonstrations in the Demonstration Theater and Science on a Sphere -- and our new Planetarium!  Our Education department can use help from volunteers in pulling together this amazing day!  Let your inner child loose as you help the kids create their art!

The Wellspring Shoppe is a clothing boutique that supplies free clothing to over 3,500 individuals a year. We receive donations year-round and need help sorting and stocking our boutique and also helping with clients as they shop in our boutique.  This is a great opportunity for anyone that loves organizing, fashion and customer service! 

The Shoppe hours are Mondays from 10:00am-2:00pm, Tuesdays from 2:30-6:00pm, Thursdays from 10:00am-2:00pm, and the second Saturday of each month from 9:00am-1:00pm.  You can help for just an hour or two, or for the whole 4 hours.  You can volunteer as much or little as you would like to.

Our mobile food pantry (Wellspring on Wheels) serves every Tues/Thurs/Fri from 10am-12pm at pre selected sites around the county. 

We are looking for kind and compassionate people to help serve the food insecure. Volunteers will help bag food for clients and help with set- up and tear down of the mobile food pantry. 

We feed over 200 families every month in our mobile food pantry. We look forward to connecting with you.

Assisting full-time Executive Assistant which includes:

Greets anyone who enters the building. answer phones, transfer calls, answer questions, give directions, various tasking and manage the flow of traffic in the office!

Any family in Allen County struggling with food insecurity is welcome to visit our food bank once every 30 days.  Each family can sit with the staff and choose their food, they will receive a choice of meat, fresh fruits and vegetables when available. 

We are looking for kind and compassionate people to help serve at our food bank Monday-Friday. Volunteers may assist with the completion of an intake with a client, gather food and hygiene items for them, and place order on table for them to take.

We serve 400+ families each month and are always looking for more help!

Our after-school program is looking for friendly individuals who can assist 1st-8th grade participants with homework, reading and/or educational games during scheduled homework time, 3:30-4:30pm Monday-Thursday during the academic school year. You may volunteer one day a week, two, three or all four! Volunteers may work one-on-one with children or may work with a small group depending on attendance numbers. This is a great opportunity for former educators or individuals who enjoy working with youth.

All volunteers will need to complete an application & have a background check conducted at Wellspring's expense.

This is a weekly commitment for a 90-minute recording session timeslot. We can work with your schedule, Monday-Friday between 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Did you know? 190 times a day, American Red Cross volunteers help a family that has lost everything in a disaster. Right here in Indiana, there are 2-3 home fires daily. Other disasters can also occur at any time and at any place affecting our communities.

Description

If you like to drive, this is the opportunity for you! We're looking for volunteers willing to transport supplies and materials across the region. We need volunteer  to be on call when there is a need! Deliveries can take 15 minutes or four hours. They will vary due to upcoming needs. Some routes will be planned on a schedule but others will occur based on needs that pop up. 

A Red Cross vehicle and gas card will be available to you for this position after a Motor Vehicle Report is run and a brief, online, drivers safety training course is complete.  

Key Responsibilities

Providing transportation assistance for the American Red Cross. Volunteers will be delivering or picking up supplies and materials across the Indiana Region.

Qualifications

Must have a valid driver's license

This is traditionally one of our busiest events (1000-2000 guests) with visitors of all ages.

There will be a variety of health-related displays set up around the building and staffed by local doctors' offices.

We typically do not have activity tables of our own on this day, and the medical organizations do provide some volunteers, so during the event we need only one or two people.

Our greatest need is with set-up and tear-down.

Set-up starts at approximately 7:00 a.m. and involves directing the vendors to the spot that has been assigned to them during the event.  There will be a map showing where each vendor will be located, so the set-up volunteer will put in a lot of walking to escort each vendor from the entrance to the assigned table.  There is no manual labor involved in this role.

Tear-down starts at approximately 3:00 p.m. and involves the manual labor of taking down the tables that have been used during the event.  This role involves lifting and carrying.

Ronald McDonald House volunteers keep our program running smoothly 365 days a year.  A Volunteer is often the first face a family sees when they arrive.  Volunteers keep the Ronald McDonald House tidy and welcoming, and assist guests at check in and through their stay. We are in particular need for volunteers for every Wednesday from Noon - 3 p.m. 

Must be 16 to be able to volunteer.  Those between ages 16 and 18 may volunteer with parent or legal guardian. 

Once you have responded, I will email you with additional information and an application. Once you have completed the application, I will reach out to schedule an in-person interview.

Ronald McDonald House volunteers keep our program running smoothly 365 days a year.  A Volunteer is often the first face a family sees when they arrive.  Volunteers keep the Ronald McDonald House tidy and welcoming, and assist guests at check in and through their stay. We are in particular need for volunteers for every other Tuesday from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., and every Tuesday from 6 - 9 p.m. as well as every other Wednesday from 6 - 9 p.m.

Hey, want to be part of something awesome? The City of Fort Wayne Greenways and Trails team is on the lookout for folks to join as Greenway Rangers and help keep our sidepath trails in top shape.

Oh, and if you’re wondering, a sidepath is just a fancy name for a two-way trail that runs right along the road-think bikes, joggers, and dog-walkers all sharing the lane.

Here’s what you’d be doing as a Greenway Ranger:

- Patrol your own little stretch of trail (half a mile to a mile) once a week from April through October. Winter          patrols? Totally your call.

- Notice anything weird—like graffiti, fallen branches, or cracks in the path? Give the Program Manager a quick

  shout.

- Track your patrol hours each month. Nothing tricky, promise.

- Pick up litter, clear away small branches, sweep up debris—just the easy stuff. If it’s something bigger, let the

  Program Manager know and they’ll handle it.

Gather your family, co-workers, neighbors, school, or church groups and join us in our Kindness Kitchen!  You provide the ingredients, prepare, and serve a delicious meal for our families to enjoy.  Think comfort food - chicken or beef and noodles, stew, or a taco or potato bar.  What a great way to team-build with your group and serve our families at the same time! 

All stations needed: come when you can, leave when you need to.

We welcome those who do not sew or do not want to bring their machine to pin cases for sewing, iron cases after they are sewn before trimming and those who only wish to iron washed cases to fold, put in zip top bags and add the insert as the last step.

If you prefer to sew, we welcome sergers and machines. If you own both a serger and machine, please bring your serger.  Please bring all items you would normally have while sewing. (Double check your machine's foot pedal is packed.)

We provide 2 cutting stations, 2-3 ironing stations.

Bring your own lunch (no raw onions or red dye), a snack, and a drink.

Habitat GFW is looking for groups of two people to volunteer once every 3 to 4 months for our Aluminum Can Recycling Program.

Responsibilities:

Can Shed Volunteers choose their schedule! You can run the route any day and time during your assigned month; it's very casual. 

This has been an excellent opportunity for our current volunteers to volunteer with their spouse, stay active in the community, and help Habitat raise funds for affordable housing in Greater Fort Wayne.

In 2025, we raised over $26,000 through recycling cans. Our goal in 2026 is to raise over $30,000 to subsidize the cost of one Habitat home for a local family.

Night to Shine is an event for people with special needs hosted by local churches around the world. It is open to anyone living with disabilities, ages 14 and older.

We are in need of a Spanish speaking volunteer to assist participant(s) in communication during programming. Our Spanish speaking population is growing, so is our need for volunteers to help these friends navigate all that GiGi's has to offer. Times will vary. There is also an interest in starting a group for these families if you would like to help get that going!

GiGi's Tutor volunteers/mentors will work 1:1 assisting children and adults with literacy and/or math. We are seeking caring, understanding and energetic people to help our participants succeed. Must be kind and enthusiastic with the desire to help 1 person learn, grow and surpass your expectations. There is training provided by GiGi's to assure volunteers are prepared and comfortable with their role. Each volunteer tutor is only needed as little as 1 hour per week. If you desire to help a child or adult learn to read, write or progress in math skills this is where it's at!

Job skills assistant will help with food prep for walk in and catering orders. Volunteer will report to the Program Manager Teya, and help the participants focus on tasks and complete tasks as assigned by manager. Volunteer may also assist with cleaning, stocking, and answering phones.

Meet and assist families with babies and young children at A Baby's Closet (ABC).  As an ABC, volunteer, you will greet families and provide customer service to our clients.  Volunteers should possess a cooperative, loving attitude and be able to work closely with staff, other volunteers, and customers.  You may choose to volunteer weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly. Volunteers must first meet with the ABC Director or the Volunteer Coordinator before volunteering. (How does ABC work? ABC provides essential baby items to mothers who receive prenatal care, attend childbirth classes, take their children to well-child appointments, and keep immunizations up-to-date.  Coupons are received from service providers to be used for items at ABC.)

Agency is open Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm; and Friday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.

We can split shifts into morning shift from 8:00 am - 12:30 pm; or afternoon shift from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Elara Caring, one of the nation's largest providers of home-based care, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families.

Volunteers are needed to visit with patients and engage them in activities such as playing music, singing, working on a craft project, sharing a special moment or simply providing companionship through listening, talking or holding a hand. Volunteers can sometimes provide respite care visits, allowing family members to take a much-needed break.

*Tighten legs on tables, chairs, and other furniture pieces
*Repair or clean up chips, dents, and surface damage
*Replace or install basic hardware (knobs, bolts, screws, etc.)
*Assemble and prepare bed frames for client use
*Ensure repaired items are safe, sturdy, and ready for distribution

Qualifications:
Basic handyman skills and comfort using hand tools
Attention to detail and commitment to safety
Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
Willingness to lift or move furniture (with assistance as needed)

Wednesday evenings (the second and fourth each month), Journey Beside Mothers hosts events for moms to attend. Our Great Moms Club is open to any mom and childcare is needed for preschool aged children while we offer the moms community, enrichment and support. The childcare will be from 5:50 pm- 7:30 pm. A light meal will be provided. A background check is required. We welcome ages 16+ to volunteer.

Make a Difference in a Child’s Life – Become a CASA Volunteer

The Allen County CASA Program recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the court system. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers get to know the child, gather information, and make recommendations to the court about what is in the child’s best interest.

As a CASA volunteer, you’ll be a consistent and supportive presence for a child navigating the foster care system. You’ll help the child understand what’s happening in their case and ensure their voice is heard among a sea of professionals-lawyers, caseworkers, doctors, and judges.

Your advocacy helps judges make informed decisions so children can be placed in safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. Beyond court, CASA volunteers often support educational needs, encourage goals, and serve as positive role models. This is more than volunteering, it’s a chance to change a child’s life, and your own.

Repair formal and semi-formal dresses as needed. Repairing of items could include zippers, button and hems. Dresses can be picked up at The Gown Garden boutique and taken home to be mended. 

Hand washing and sanitizing synthetic wigs to help keep our wig salon stocked with different styles for our clients to choose from. Once wigs have been washed, they will be hung to dry for 24 hours. Once the wigs have dried, volunteer will comb out. Volunteers can wash, sanitize and hang wigs to dry only, or come in to comb out dry wigs to be placed in the wig salon. No experience necessary. Hello! We are looking to teach a few individuals on how to install memorial bricks, which pave the sidewalk to our building. These bricks are purchased by individuals who would like to honor their loved ones who lost their battle to cancer. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND NO HEAVY LABOR! We have all the tools you will need.

Come and help us distribute fresh produce and other food to families! This is an OUTDOOR activity at Saint Peter's Catholic Church at 518 E Dewald St, and includes loading food into cars. This is a great event, and CHFB's second busiest farm wagon. It is a fast paced activity that requires attention to detail and safety. Because of this, we ask that you are at least 14 years old. Exceptions can be made by Volunteer Manager or CHFB Leadership. This is one of the highest poverty zip codes in Indiana at nearly 50% (46803), your efforts will go far here! 

The people who frequent this distribution sincerely appreciate your kind spirit, and so do Community Harvest employees!

Our annual Coats for Kids runs November/December. All year round our volunteers knit/crochet hats and scarves to accompany the over 10,000 coats we hand out to children in need. We have donated yarn at our office that can be picked up for use with this project. Keep those hands busy while watching tv and keeping your social distance! We also accept baby blankets and lap blankets. 

Join us the first Thursday of each month (except September) at 10 am at our office, 3401 Lake Avenue, Suite 4 for fellowship with other knitters/crocheters! Our group is called "The Yarnsters" and we have a lot of fun! Bring a project to work on. Weather notes: if FWCS are closed there will be no group meeting. 

We're looking for a nurturing Foster Grandparent to bring warmth and gentle care into the lives of our littlest ones! Your role volunteering with babies would include: reading picture books, singing soft lullabies to soothe and comfort, gently rocking babies, making music and sharing joyful sounds, using simple words to build early vocabulary to support infant development, and bonding with infants who need extra love. This is a special opportunity to be a meaningful part of a child’s earliest memories!

You'll drive our box truck (no CDL required) to pick up donated furniture and deliver essentials to families leaving crisis situations—domestic violence, homelessness, eviction. A bed frame. A kitchen table. A couch where kids can do homework. You're not just moving furniture; you're helping people rebuild the foundation of home. The items you pick up also stock our Thrift Store, where 100% of profits fund rent and utility assistance across northeast Indiana.

You'll load and unload furniture safely (50+ lbs with assistance), provide respectful service to donors and clients, follow planned routes, and maintain the truck. Must be 25+ with a valid license and clean driving record. This is active, hands-on work—and you'll meet people from every corner of the community.
