The Volunteer Ranch Groundskeepers assist with maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of the ranch property. This role supports routine grounds care, seasonal projects, and occasional minor repairs to ensure the ranch remains clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors, staff, volunteers, and animals.Qualifications

We are in need of someone to deliver hospital beds to our cancer clients and pick them up from our clients homes when no longer needed. You will need a valid driver's license, be able to drive a company van, and must pass a criminal background check. No experience necessary. Must be 18 years old or older. Training will be provided.

We are looking for compassionate and enthusiastic volunteers to join us at our Memory Care Assisted Living community, Kingston at DuPont! Our residents greatly enjoy activities such as light exercises, bingo, card games, crafts, sports, and baking — and your time and energy can make a meaningful difference in their day. Whether you can visit once a week or once a month, your presence brings joy, connection, and engagement to seniors living with memory challenges. Assist in organizing event decor including but not limited to linens, florals, center pieces, and other items stored in our warehouse location. Also, assist with packing an unpacking rental orders. Pickup returned orders from the Gown Garden and take to warehouse for unpacking. This could include lifting, folding linens, organizing items, sorting, inventorying, etc.  Hours are flexible.

Volunteers doing laundry wash, dry, fold, sort, and operate equipment.  Volunteers doing dishes wash, run dishes though the dishwasher, dry and put dishes away.  Laundry volunteer may also take breaks to socialize with our adoption cats. Thank you for your consideration! Before volunteering, you will be required to complete an application and go through training. From This Day Forward is looking for someone who can help us with marketing our organization including social media.  Our website describes who we are, our mission statement and services.  Hours are flexible.

Seeking someone to join our team to focus on our Create for a Cause projects. Over the years, we have accumulated craft supplies and would like to share our surplus supplies with organizations who would be able to recycle the items into something creative.  We also hold our own events where we gather crafters to help make items so that they can be donated to those in need.  Duties would include but be limited to organizing events and finding agencies who are in need of our surplus craft supplies. Volunteer hours are flexible.

At the Gown Garden, assist customers in finding affordable formal wear, semi-formal wear, jewelry, shoes and other items. Assist brides with finding their 'Say YES to the dress' gown and accessories. Assist with basic boutique upkeep including incoming donations. Help as needed with special events throughout the year. Hours are flexible.

United With Love office volunteers assist the Office Manager in many positions. Available volunteer positions include receptionist, interviewer, and processor.  The receptionist is generally the first point of contact for our neighbors in need. The receptionist receives requests for help, the interviewer screens the requests, verifies the need, and then refers the request to a United with Love program or ministry, church ministry, or community agency. The processor then records the information gathered during the interview process and the outcomes and referrals made. After the initial assistance, a specialized United With Love interviewer follows up to ensure the need was met and offers continued support in the form of prayer, additional referrals, and potentially even one-to-one coaching.

This particular opportunity is for Wednesdays from 9 am-1 pm.

Volunteers of the United With Love Food Pantry assist neighbors with the selection of food products for their households. By providing a range of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, canned goods, and dairy products, our food pantry aims to alleviate the pressures of accessing healthy food for neighbors in Huntington County. Volunteers assist with the day-to-day activities of the pantry, ensuring a welcoming, well stocked, and hygienic shopping experience. Some Food Pantry volunteers also assist with the collection of food from local donation organizations. 

This particular opening is a need for a food pantry receptionist. The food pantry receptionist greets neighbors as they enter the food pantry for appointments, has neighbors sign needed paperwork, and processes their paperwork in print and in the computer system. This opening is available on Tuesdays from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. for a volunteer to serve weekly in this capacity.

As a meal volunteer, you will purchase the ingredients and prepare a meal for our guests. You can choose to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner, either in our beautiful gourmet kitchen or by bringing food from a commercial kitchen or restaurant. 

Volunteers typically cook for 12–15 people at our Lutheran location and 10-12 people at our Dupont location. We don’t require you to accommodate specific dietary needs, guests are always welcome to prepare something else from the pantry if needed.

We’re looking for a passionate and knowledgeable gardener to take the lead in planning and maintaining our garden spaces. This role is ideal for someone interested in leading a fruit and vegetable garden, but some flower planting and planning can also be incorporated. The Lead Gardener will decide what to plant, where, and when, and will create a seasonal care schedule that outlines tasks like watering, weeding, pruning, and harvesting. Once a plan is in place, additional volunteers will be recruited to help carry it out, with the Lead Gardener providing guidance and support. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys both the creative and practical sides of gardening and wants to help our garden thrive year-round. 

**We are hoping to fill this position before May 1, so plans for what to plan and when can be ready for Spring 2026!

Any family in Allen County struggling with food insecurity is welcome to visit our food bank once every 30 days.  Each family can sit with the staff and choose their food, they will receive a choice of meat, fresh fruits and vegetables when available. 

We are looking for kind and compassionate people to help serve at our food bank Monday-Friday. Volunteers may assist with the completion of an intake with a client, gather food and hygiene items for them, and place order on table for them to take.

We serve 400+ families each month and are always looking for more help!

Our after-school program is looking for friendly individuals who can assist 1st-8th grade participants with homework, reading and/or educational games during scheduled homework time, 3:30-4:30pm Monday-Thursday during the academic school year. You may volunteer one day a week, two, three or all four! Volunteers may work one-on-one with children or may work with a small group depending on attendance numbers. This is a great opportunity for former educators or individuals who enjoy working with youth.

If you like to drive, this is the opportunity for you! We're looking for volunteers willing to transport supplies and materials across the region. We need volunteer  to be on call when there is a need! Deliveries can take 15 minutes or four hours. They will vary due to upcoming needs. Some routes will be planned on a schedule but others will occur based on needs that pop up. 

A Red Cross vehicle and gas card will be available to you for this position after a Motor Vehicle Report is run and a brief, online, drivers safety training course is complete.

Habitat GFW is looking for groups of two people to volunteer once every 3 to 4 months for our Aluminum Can Recycling Program.

Responsibilities:

This has been an excellent opportunity for our current volunteers to volunteer with their spouse, stay active in the community, and help Habitat raise funds for affordable housing in Greater Fort Wayne.

Night to Shine is an event for people with special needs hosted by local churches around the world. It is open to anyone living with disabilities, ages 14 and older.

We are in need of a Spanish speaking volunteer to assist participant(s) in communication during programming. Our Spanish speaking population is growing, so is our need for volunteers to help these friends navigate all that GiGi's has to offer. Times will vary. There is also an interest in starting a group for these families if you would like to help get that going!

GiGi's Tutor volunteers/mentors will work 1:1 assisting children and adults with literacy and/or math. We are seeking caring, understanding and energetic people to help our participants succeed. Must be kind and enthusiastic with the desire to help 1 person learn, grow and surpass your expectations. There is training provided by GiGi's to assure volunteers are prepared and comfortable with their role. Each volunteer tutor is only needed as little as 1 hour per week. Elara Caring, one of the nation's largest providers of home-based care, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families.

Make a Difference in a Child’s Life – Become a CASA Volunteer

The Allen County CASA Program recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the court system. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers get to know the child, gather information, and make recommendations to the court about what is in the child’s best interest.

As a CASA volunteer, you’ll be a consistent and supportive presence for a child navigating the foster care system. You’ll help the child understand what’s happening in their case and ensure their voice is heard among a sea of professionals-lawyers, caseworkers, doctors, and judges.

Your advocacy helps judges make informed decisions so children can be placed in safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. Beyond court, CASA volunteers often support educational needs, encourage goals, and serve as positive role models. This is more than volunteering, it’s a chance to change a child’s life, and your own.

Hand washing and sanitizing synthetic wigs to help keep our wig salon stocked with different styles for our clients to choose from. Once wigs have been washed, they will be hung to dry for 24 hours. Once the wigs have dried, volunteer will comb out. Volunteers can wash, sanitize and hang wigs to dry only, or come in to comb out dry wigs to be placed in the wig salon. No experience necessary. Hello! We are looking to teach a few individuals on how to install memorial bricks, which pave the sidewalk to our building. These bricks are purchased by individuals who would like to honor their loved ones who lost their battle to cancer. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND NO HEAVY LABOR! We have all the tools you will need.

This volunteer project can be completed during or after business hours, and installations happen approximately three to four times a year, depending on the need.

Come and help us distribute fresh produce and other food to families! This is an OUTDOOR activity at Saint Peter's Catholic Church at 518 E Dewald St, and includes loading food into cars. This is a great event, and CHFB's second busiest farm wagon. It is a fast paced activity that requires attention to detail and safety. Because of this, we ask that you are at least 14 years old. Exceptions can be made by Volunteer Manager or CHFB Leadership. This is one of the highest poverty zip codes in Indiana at nearly 50% (46803), your efforts will go far here!

The Carpenter's Sons Ministry builds ramps, repairs porches, and makes critical home modifications so elderly and disabled neighbors can safely stay in their homes. Every Tuesday morning, we gather for coffee and fellowship, then head out to worksites across the community. You'll use your carpentry skills—or learn them from experienced volunteers—to solve real problems: a wheelchair ramp that restores independence, a repaired step that prevents a fall, a grab bar that makes bathing safe again.

Adult life comes with many joys and challenges, as you may have experienced personally. CASS
is looking to provide mentors to help CASS Housing residents navigate life. CASS staff will pair
the mentor with a CASS resident based on interests, personality, and schedules. Mentors will
provide a listening ear, advice, and accountability for reaching goals. Mentorship sessions will be
individualized to the CASS resident, and training will be provided on CASS specific policies and
best practices in communicating and interacting with individuals with disabilities. The goal is for
mentorship sessions to occur on a regular schedule such as biweekly or monthly for a
minimum of one hour per session.

We are in need of people to help us distribute to families. You can volunteer for as many or as little hours as you'd like. You can bring your group or even volunteer alone. This process consists of walking customers through our pantry with a shopping cart and helping them make choices.  We'd love to know ahead of time however, if you're in the area, stop in and we'll put you to work :)

The United with Love mobile unit travels to Roanoke on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 5-6 pm for food appointments. Volunteer help is needed to load the truck with food in our food pantry, take the truck with food to our neighbors in Roanoke in the parking lot of Seminary United Methodist Church, 285 Seminary Street, and then bring any remaining items back to the food pantry in the truck.

Standard Delivery In-School Volunteer:  These volunteers visit a class once a week to deliver the JA program. The number of visits vary depending on the grade level, usually 5-7 visits for 30-45 minutes each. Classes run from Pre-K through 12th grade. Training and materials are provided.

JA In A Day Event Volunteer:  These volunteers deliver the JA program, all sessions in one morning. The entire school has JA volunteers in every classroom. It is a one day only commitment for 4-5 hours. Dates are set up with the schools in advance. Training and materials are provided beforehand.

Before their arrival at Lincoln Finance Park, students are prepared in the classroom to participate in a carefully designed simulation that closely resembles real-life budget planning. While visiting, each student will become an adult for the day. All students will be responsible for planning a monthly budget for themselves and their fictional families.  Volunteers will provide guidance to the students as they plan their budgets. Volunteers who offer to assist must participate in an on-site training 30 minutes prior to student arrival on the day of the simulation. This training provides volunteers with the opportunity to understand the in-class program as well as the on-site schedule and procedures. They will gain knowledge and experience about their role in assisting the students. We have volunteer openings for the 2025-2026 school year, contact JA for open dates. 

JA BizTown® combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to our simulated town. This popular learning experience allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. Volunteering is a one day commitment that includes an on-site training one hour prior to student arrival. Each volunteer will then be assigned a business where they will assist a group of 4-10 students throughout their work tasks and responsibilities. We’re looking for a Foster Grandparent to join our toddler team — someone who believes in the magic of pretend and has a big heart and playful spirit! Your role would include: Playing pretend and bringing imagination to life, encouraging basic social skills like sharing and taking turns, using rich and descriptive language to grow little vocabularies, and snuggling up to read books together. If you believe that every toddler needs a little extra love, attention, and encouragement, then this is the volunteer opportunity for you!

Volunteer at a Fort Wayne Community or East Allen County school near you! This is your opportunity to mentor and tutor children ages kindergarten through third grade. Choose to focus on strengthening students' literacy skills 1:1, or helping children in a classroom environment. After passing your required background checks, we will invite you to a 5-day orientation to prepare you for your mentoring experience.

Assist with washing, drying and folding rented linens. Linens can be washed onsite at The Gown Garden  They can also be taken home to be washed and returned. Totes are available to be used.

Power House is a Christian youth center in New Haven that offers after school programming for 7th-12th grade students.  We offer a healthy snack, homework help, life skills classes, free time for the youth, and then provide dinner for the students every night.  Volunteers would engage with students, having conversations with them, and engage in the activities that are taking place.  We are searching for volunteers that would be able to commit to 1 afternoon a week, or every other week.

The volunteer process is fairly simple.  There is a short application, and 2 hour training for new volunteers.  Since we work directly with youth, there is a background check that will be completed as well.

Our nonprofit learning center (located in northwest Fort Wayne) is in need of a regular (weekly or biweekly) visit from a plant-loving volunteer.  We’re looking for someone from April through October who has experience with pruning, light weeding, and giving advice on keeping our outdoor environment looking its best.  Garden tools & supplies provided onsite. Friendly Visits: Visit with a patient typically for about an hour. Play games, play cards, listen to music, watch tv or movies, talk and more. Share your talents and time with someone who would truly appreciate it.

Caregiver Relief: Help families that are taking care of someone they love. Give them a much needed break and spend time with their loved one. Typically about 2-4 hours.

Vigil Relief: Help us fulfill our philosophy that a patient should never die alone or feel alone when they die. Sit with a patient so they are not alone. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to learn more about connecting with our amazing patients.

Volunteer drivers will help get clients to and from their chemo and radiation appointments.  You do not have to stay with the client. Volunteers will use their own vehicle to transport. DRIVERS ARE NEEDED IN ALL ZIP CODES BUT WE HAVE A GREATER NEED AT THIS MOMENT IN 46806, 46807, 46809, 46819, 46761, 46755, 46706. We also have a need for drivers in all 11 Northeast Indiana counties; Allen, Adams, DeKalb, Noble, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties.  With every 150 miles driven, you will be reimbursed with at $15 gas card. Helping Hands is CHFB's primary food distribution volunteer event! Join us each Saturday morning as we distribute thousands of pounds of food to hundreds of families. A surefire way to feed your soul, and make a massive impact in the fight against food insecurity on our nine county service area!

Please arrive at 999 E. Tillman between 6:45 & 7:00 AM, you will need to park in the Fire Police, City County Credit Union, Midwest America Credit Union, or Domino's Pizza parking lots. All of these are directly next to CHFB. 

Enter in through the “Volunteer Entrance” door. Please check in with me, Mis Embury, at the Volunteer Manager Desk / check-in table set up where you can register your attendance on an iPad (if you registered online) or by using the paper sign-in sheet. We will assign positions when you arrive and will begin the Drive Through as soon as we have enough help. Helping Hands is scheduled until 11AM, but on average, finishes early.

It takes a lot to keep Science Central running. We have a history of reaching out to groups in our community for aid. We have many projects, both inside and outside of the building, that large groups can help with. These could be painting, cleaning, building projects, stuffing envelops, or conducting tabletop activities with the visitors. If your group is looking for a fun bonding activity, consider helping out at Science Central. Some supplies (shovels, gloves, scrub brushes, etc.) will need to be provided by your group. At Science Central we have a hands on approach to teaching science. We also have a hands on approach to our exhibits. We have built many of the exhibits on our floor. We also service them ourselves. As a volunteer you can assist the Science Central facilities department in all aspects of daily operation. Projects will vary depending on the area of greatest need. We need volunteer who know the ins and outs of cabinetry, electricity, engineering, gardening and more. If you have a skill to lend, we could use your help.

We have outreach programs that go out to local schools. We have summer camps that teach various scientific principles and skills. And we have virtual learning that is done world wide. We would never be able to accomplish these goals with the Administrative office.

Ultimately, the Bookkeeper’s responsibilities are to accurately record the financial transactions of our nonprofit organization (approximately 30-50 transactions per month).

Offering treats in our VA lobby can provide veterans with a small but meaningful gesture of appreciation and support, potentially enhancing their overall experience and fostering a sense of community. It can also serve as a subtle acknowledgment of their service and sacrifice to our country.

The duties of our donut and snack volunteer is to set-up the snack area, including tables, Soldier’s Angels banner and backdrop, and Soldier’s Angels literature. Set-up popcorn machine and make popcorn. Bag popcorn and hand out to our veterans. Clean popcorn machine and return to Volunteer Services. Other items are occasionally available to hand out to our veterans such as Girl Scout Cookies, bags of Coffee etc. 

Hello! We are hoping to add another volunteer musician or vocalist to our monthly rotation of entertainment for residents in our memory care assisted living facility. This could be just once a month, every other week or weekly for 45 mins-1 hour. 

We are looking for a volunteer pastor to come lead a short Bible study or church service once a month, or as able, at Kingston at DuPont. We are very flexible with scheduling!  

A Baby's Closet needs volunteer interpreters who are fluent in Spanish, Burmese, Pashto, or Haitian Creole. This will help us effectively communicate and bridge language gaps with our clients who also speak these languages. This opportunity will be at A Baby's Closet, 621 E. Wayne St. and is Monday and/or Wednesday afternoons from 2-5pm.  Any time that you can give would be helpful, even if not for the entire shift.

Fold plastic grocery sacks in the comfort of your easy chair in front of the TV! We are helping the USPS prepare for their annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive scheduled for the second Saturday in May. You must come by our office, 3401 Lake Avenue to pick up and return the supplies. Mon - Thur between 9 - 4 p.m.

Volunteer facilitators are the heart of Erin's House. Our facilitators lead and encourage participants through games, crafts, and activities to explore their own thoughts and feelings about death and loss. Training for this position is provided.

Basics:

Evening availability (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday)

Commit to at least one (1) year of volunteering

Co-facilitate small groups of children/teens in your designated program room

Lead activities from crafts and games to journaling and conversation

Pizza dinner provided during every program night!

9-hour training provided before starting and 3 hours done independently (12 hours total)

Once training is complete, facilitators are able to volunteer at Erin's House programs, camps, and other fun opportunities!​

Qualifications:

Must be at least 16 years old

Have access to internet for virtual groups if applicable

Work as a team member and care about children

Agree to criminal background check prior to assuming duties

Be able to work in a confidential environment

Time Commitment:​​

12-hours of training

Three (3) hours facilitating on designated program nights for 10 weeks or 4 weeks at a time​

    Example: Every Monday for 10 weeks facilitating from 5:45pm-8:30pm

Programs are held January-May, and August-November

Ready to commit to at least one (1) year of volunteering

Attend two (2) continuing education presentations throughout the year
