We are in need of individuals to assist at our front desk. This person is responsible for allowing individuals into our building for appointments, accepting and sorting mail, receiving packages, answering the phone, and other office tasks as assigned. 

You are required to complete a volunteer application on our website and undergo a background check given the work that we do.

Assist with washing, drying and folding rented linens. Linens can be washed onsite at The Gown Garde or taken home to be washed and returned. Totes are available to be used. Flexible schedule.

An Auction Readiness Volunteer is someone who helps prepare all the essential elements needed before our annual Gala. Volunteers are needed from July-the day of the Gala Sept. 18th, 2026.

Task Descriptions:

Imagine days—or even weeks or months—of hospital food and vending machines while your child is receiving medical care. Now, picture having a delicious, home-cooked meal with healthy options and nutritious snacks. That’s the impact you can make as a meal volunteer at Hope’s Harbor!

As a meal volunteer, you will purchase the ingredients and prepare a meal for our guests. Whether you come as a family or with friends, coworkers, classmates, or teammates, preparing a meal for our guests is a meaningful and rewarding experience. You can choose to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner, either in our beautiful gourmet kitchen or by bringing food from a commercial kitchen or restaurant. 

Volunteers typically cook for 12–15 people at our Lutheran location and 10-12 people at our Dupont location. We don’t require you to accommodate specific dietary needs, guests are always welcome to prepare something else from the pantry if needed.

Making a difference to families staying at the Hope's Harbor!  

We’re looking for someone to help care for and maintain our flower gardens throughout the growing season. Now that the flowers are planted, we are seeking a volunteer who can stop by regularly—ideally weekly—to help keep the garden beds healthy, tidy, and thriving. Responsibilities may include watering, weeding, trimming and pruning, deadheading flowers, mulching, seasonal cleanup, and general garden upkeep.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being outdoors, has a love for gardening, and is comfortable working independently with routine garden care. Flexible scheduling is available, but consistency is especially helpful to keep the gardens looking their best.

This role is centered around something simple but meaningful: being there for our guests. Our families are walking through long, often overwhelming days at the hospital, and coming back to a warm, welcoming space (and a kind, helpful person) can make all the difference.

Care & Comfort Crew volunteers are that presence. Greeting guests, helping answer questions, light cleaning or cooking, lending a hand where needed, and just creating a sense of calm and care throughout the home. It’s less about big tasks and more about being there, whenever they need someone. 

Shifts are 2 hours (9am–4pm), Monday–Friday, and we’re hoping for a weekly or bi-monthly commitment. If you’re interested in serving but need a small adjustment to one of these timeframes, we still encourage you to apply — we’re happy to explore whether a consistent alternative can work. 

All Care and Comfort Crew volunteers are required to attend an orientation and training prior to their first shift.

We are looking for a handy volunteer who can install dollies with casters to the bottom of four barrels (plastic drums). We have the supplies and a basic toolkit. The volunteer will need to bring their own drill and necessary tools for the job.

As a JA Finance Park® volunteer, you guide students through a realistic, hands-on budgeting simulation that helps them understand personal finance and real-world decision-making. Volunteers work in small groups to help students make choices about income, expenses, savings, and lifestyle—bringing financial concepts to life. Students arrive at Lincoln Finance Park prepared through classroom lessons for their simulation. During their visit, they step into the role of adults for the day, managing a monthly budget for themselves and their life scenario.

Volunteers guide students through the process and attend a brief on-site training 30 minutes before arrival to understand their role and the simulation. Your support helps students build confidence, think critically, and see how today’s decisions shape their future.

JA BizTown® combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to our simulated town. This popular learning experience allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. Volunteering is a one day commitment that includes an on-site training one hour prior to student arrival. Each volunteer will then be assigned a business where they will assist a group of 4-10 students throughout their work tasks and responsibilities.

Join Junior Achievement as an In-School Volunteer and make a lasting impact in your community! As a JA volunteer, you’ll bring real-world knowledge into the classroom, delivering fun, hands-on lessons in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. JA provides all the training, materials, and support—you bring your enthusiasm and life experience.  You don’t need to be a teacher—just someone who wants to make a difference.

Standard Delivery In-School Volunteer:  These volunteers visit a class once a week to deliver the JA program. The number of visits vary depending on the grade level, usually 5-7 visits for 30-45 minutes each. Classes run from Pre-K through 12th grade. Training and materials are provided.

JA In A Day Event Volunteer:  These volunteers deliver the JA program, all sessions in one morning. The entire school has JA volunteers in every classroom. It is a one day only commitment for 4-5 hours. Dates are set up with the schools in advance. Training and materials are provided beforehand.

Data Entry & Administrative Support
Help further the mission of Catholic Charities by supporting the stewardship of those who make our ministry possible. As a Data Entry volunteer, you will assist with maintaining accurate records in our donor database, helping ensure that every donor is acknowledged, valued, and connected to the impact of their generosity. Your service behind the scenes helps strengthen our ability to bring hope and assistance to neighbors in need.

Training will be provided. A willingness to learn, attention to detail, and respect for confidentiality are essential.

Shelter volunteers assist with tasks that help with the day-to-day functioning of the shelter. Tasks can include things like preparing food for the food pantry, laundry, cleaning dishes or kennels, walking animals or providing other enrichment, along with other tasks as needed. Shelter volunteers are assigned tasks upon completion of orientation.

The National Airmail Museum is a new attraction being planned for Fort Wayne. The museum will be housed in the (soon-to-be) renovated 1930's-era "Hangar 2" on the east side of Smith Field. The museum will look back at the National Airmail Service--and the important role Fort Wayne served for the service. The museum will also feature local residents who played very important roles in aviation over the years and decades. In addition to looking back, the museum will also look forward to the future of aviation, by offering interactive exhibits--such as a "drone zone," simulators and various displays and activities that introduce visitors to the ever-expanding field of aviation. The museum was approved and authorized by official decree of the U.S. Congress.

As our project continues to develop and grow, we are in need of a Treasurer for our Board. Briefly, the Treasurer position involves five general responsibilities, which are: 1) Financial Oversight and Record Keeping (maintain financial records; manage/reconcile bank statements; management of the organization's financial accounts); 2) Budgeting and Planning (lead the annual budget preparation process; monitor income/expenses against the budget and advise the Board accordingly); 3) Reports (prepare and present a concise Treasurer's Report at each Board meeting; prepare annual financial statements for our annual report); 4) Compliance and Tax (ensure the timely filing of all required tax documents and state/federal non-profit reports; ensure the organization secures and maintains proper insurance coverage); 5) Fund Management (oversee/manage restricted funds to assure they are properly utilized; manage endowment and/or long-term accounts).

This position seeks someone who has knowledge of/experience with accounting/bookkeeping/finance and who has proficiency with accounting software, as well as Excel and Word. The candidate needs to also exemplify integrity, with unquestionable ethics and a commitment to transparency. We also seek a candidate who has a passion for the mission of the museum and its goals.

This office involves a three-year term. The board meetings are held monthly (at the terminal building at Smith Field) and are usually 2 to 2 1/2 hours in length. Completion of the other tasks specific to this office will require 4 - 8 hours per month. Additional time will be needed during budget and tax seasons.

This position seeks someone who is highly organized, able to concisely document the discussions/information presented during the board meetings and handle matters professionally. We also seek a candidate who has a passion for the mission of the museum and its goals.

Currently, this would mean going into someone's home or a nursing facility (nursing home or assisted living facility) with a mask on and playing music. At Heart to Heart Hospice, we know there are different ways to
show care for our terminally ill patients, and sometimes we are
able to involve a very special pet. Pets, through animal-assisted
therapy, provide faithful companionship, comfort and affection.

How can they interact with hospice patients?

•Sitting quietly near a patient, so the patient can enjoy their presence
•Playing fetch with a patient, going after a ball or toy
•Being talked to, petted, or held, per patient preference
•Enjoying performing tricks, such as 'roll over' 'sit' or 'shaking hands'

There are proven benefits to hospice pet therapy for those at
the end-of-life. Benefits can include:

Work with children ages 5-14 to complete homework tasks, play games, complete a craft or just chat at one of our three youth centers.  This includes Weisser Youth Center, McMillen Community Center, and Jennings center.

The Weisser Youth center serves meals every day to the after school program participants. Assistant is needed to help heat food and serve the children meals.  The menus are created and coordinated with the Kid's cafe program.

The Audio Reading Service provides audio access to printed information for listeners of all ages who have visual, physical, learning, or language disabilities or conditions that prevent them from reading printed materials. 

We record more than 65 different programs, including readings from over 130 newspapers, magazines, and other sources. These recordings are available to listeners via broadcast on radio, TV, and online.

Audio Description (AD) is the practice of describing visual content for people with visual impairment or other disabilities, and is included as an important – and growing! – part of many of our programs.

As a Volunteer Audio Description (AD) Writer, you will write vivid, accurate descriptions of cover art, photographs, illustrations, and infographics in magazines and other materials for our volunteers to read aloud. These descriptions provide valuable access to visual information that helps listeners fully understand and experience the publications they love.

You will receive training to learn AD industry best practices for writing descriptions of visual images. You will work from digital and physical copies of publications, and conduct light research as needed for best accuracy. Written descriptions will be submitted for review and revisions, and ongoing training and quality review sessions will be provided. Once fully trained, descriptions may be written and submitted remotely, with occasional onsite training and review.

The ideal volunteer will have:

·        A strong command of written English — clear, precise, and evocative

·        A close observer's eye for mood, composition, color, expression, and context

·        Some familiarity with photography, visual art, or illustration

This is a weekly commitment. We can work with your schedule, Mondays or Tuesdays preferred, between 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.

• Become a Substitute Live Reader, reading the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette live on the air with an experienced partner. Subs receive a weekly email notification of upcoming opportunities to cover for a regular live reader’s absence. Each live broadcast opportunity is a 3-hour session that occurs on a weekday from 8:00 am - 11:00 am, or on a Saturday from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. You may select an opportunity that fits your schedule. Training includes observing and participating in live broadcasts for 2-3 mornings in a row prior to your first scheduled sub reading.

• Read and record Spanish-language programs when a regular reader is absent by becoming a Spanish-language Substitute Recorded Reader. Volunteers for these programs must be fluent in reading and speaking both Spanish and English. Subs receive a weekly email notification of upcoming opportunities to cover a program, and may select opportunities that fit your schedule and interests. Materials are read from hard copy and digital touchscreen tablet. Programs are usually 30 minutes or one hour of recording, within a 90-minute recording session timeslot. We can work with your schedule, Monday-Friday between 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Training on equipment and reading materials will be provided.

The committee plays a vital role in planning new initiatives, maintaining program quality, and strengthening partnerships that expand access and impact.

Hello! We are looking to teach a few individuals on how to install memorial bricks, which pave the sidewalk to our building. These bricks are purchased by individuals who would like to honor their loved ones who lost their battle to cancer. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND NO HEAVY LABOR! We have all the tools you will need.

This volunteer project can be completed during or after business hours, and installations happen approximately three to four times a year, depending on the need.

Here’s what you’d be doing as a Greenway Ranger: - Patrol your own little stretch of trail (half a mile to a mile) once a week from April through October. Winter patrols? Totally your call.

- Notice anything weird—like graffiti, fallen branches, or cracks in the path? Give the Program Manager a quick shout.

- Track your patrol hours each month. Nothing tricky, promise. - Pick up litter, clear away small branches, sweep up debris

-Just the easy stuff. If it’s something bigger, let the Program Manager know and they’ll handle it.

Dinner Pick Up Driver

This volunteer will graciously donate 1-2 hours of time and the fuel needed to pick up restaurant provided meals that are located a few miles from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Indiana. To be a dinner delivery driver, you must have proof of a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and you must log your hours through Volunteer Center to be covered by their insurance. Supplemental liability insurance is offered by both RMHC and Volunteer Center. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Indiana will gladly work with volunteers during inclement weather. The safety of our volunteers is very important.

Pickups are on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.  We also have pick up opportunities every other month on the first Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. and the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 a.m.

We receive donations year-round and need help sorting and stocking our boutique and also helping with clients as they shop in our boutique.  This is a great opportunity for anyone that loves organizing, fashion and customer service! 

The Shoppe hours are Mondays from 10:00am-2:00pm, Tuesdays from 2:30-6:00pm, Thursdays from 10:00am-2:00pm, and the second Saturday of each month from 9:00am-1:00pm.  You can help for just an hour or two, or for the whole 4 hours.  You can volunteer as much or little as you would like to and still make a difference.

For a family in crisis, the first night at Just Neighbors is the first time they can finally breathe. We believe every family deserves to walk into a space that feels like a fresh start—clean, cozy, and prepared with love.

Because the need in our community is so high, we often transition new families into rooms within just 12 hours of a move-out. We are looking for Room Adoption Volunteers to help us make this quick turnaround possible.

As a volunteer, you’ll "reset" a private room by cleaning, touching up paint, and ensuring safety features like outlet plugs are ready. You’ll then style the room with new bedding, towels, and hygiene kits so the next family feels truly welcomed.

Repair bridal, formal and semi-formal dresses as needed. Repairing of items could include zippers, button and hems. Dresses can be picked up at The Gown Garden boutique and taken home to be mended.

This position will work alongside our Lead Volunteers to help process clothing donations. Some of the tasks to be completed are: sorting and separating clothing, folding clothing, placing items on hangers, filling storage totes, consolidating items to be donated to a partner charity, and general cleaning and upkeep of the building.

Alzheimer's Association Community Representatives are community engagers that raise awareness of Alzheimer's Association programs, provide basic disease information, and link consumers to Alzheimer’s Association services. Community Representatives represent the Association at fairs, tabling events, and other community events and also deliver brief Awareness Presentations to the community/partner organizations. These presentations/events can be scheduled by Association Staff, but Community Representatives are empowered to set up their own engagements, using their own community connections, with staff support.

Community Educators are volunteer speakers who help provide education and expand the reach of Alzheimer's Association programs. Community Educators deliver Alzheimer's Association programs on topics related to Alzheimer's disease and other dementias using prepared materials. These programs can be both in-person and virtual.

These volunteers provide programs scheduled by Association staff and help identify potential community partners and education venues using their established community networks. They are also empowered to schedule presentations themselves, with support from Association staff. Community educators assure that the general public, caregivers and people living with Alzheimer's or dementia are linked to Alzheimer's Association programs and our free 24/7 Helpline. They are true partners with our staff and extend the reach of our programs to all communities.

The Volunteer Ranch Groundskeepers assist with maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of the ranch property. This role supports routine grounds care, seasonal projects, and occasional minor repairs to ensure the ranch remains clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors, staff, volunteers, and animals.Qualifications

Whether you can visit once a week or once a month, your presence brings joy, connection, and engagement to seniors living with memory challenges. No special experience is required — just a kind heart and a willingness to participate! If you’re interested in helping create smiles and special moments, we would love to hear from you!

Gather your family, co-workers, neighbors, school, or church groups and join us in our Kindness Kitchen!  You provide the ingredients, prepare, and serve a delicious meal for our families to enjoy.  Think comfort food - chicken or beef and noodles, stew, a delicious casserole, or potato bar.  What a great way to team-build with your group and serve our families at the same time! 

Volunteers doing laundry wash, dry, fold, sort, and operate equipment.  Volunteers doing dishes wash, run dishes though the dishwasher, dry and put dishes away.  Laundry volunteer may also take breaks to socialize with our adoption cats. Thank you for your consideration! Before volunteering, you will be required to complete an application and go through training. You will receive further directions once you respond. 

United With Love office volunteers assist the Office Manager in many positions. Available volunteer positions include receptionist, interviewer, and processor.  The receptionist is generally the first point of contact for our neighbors in need. The receptionist receives requests for help, the interviewer screens the requests, verifies the need, and then refers the request to a United with Love program or ministry, church ministry, or community agency. The processor then records the information gathered during the interview process and the outcomes and referrals made. After the initial assistance, a specialized United With Love interviewer follows up to ensure the need was met and offers continued support in the form of prayer, additional referrals, and potentially even one-to-one coaching.

This particular opportunity is for Wednesdays from 9 am-1 pm.

Volunteers of the United With Love Food Pantry assist neighbors with the selection of food products for their households. By providing a range of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, canned goods, and dairy products, our food pantry aims to alleviate the pressures of accessing healthy food for neighbors in Huntington County. Volunteers assist with the day-to-day activities of the pantry, ensuring a welcoming, well stocked, and hygienic shopping experience. Some Food Pantry volunteers also assist with the collection of food from local donation organizations. 

This particular opening is a need for a food pantry receptionist. The food pantry receptionist greets neighbors as they enter the food pantry for appointments, has neighbors sign needed paperwork, and processes their paperwork in print and in the computer system. This opening is available on Tuesdays from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. for a volunteer to serve weekly in this capacity.

Our after-school program is looking for friendly individuals who can assist 1st-8th grade participants with homework, reading and/or educational games during scheduled homework time, 3:30-4:30pm Monday-Thursday during the academic school year. You may volunteer one day a week, two, three or all four! Volunteers may work one-on-one with children or may work with a small group depending on attendance numbers. This is a great opportunity for former educators or individuals who enjoy working with youth.

If you like to drive, this is the opportunity for you! We're looking for volunteers willing to transport supplies and materials across the region. We need volunteer  to be on call when there is a need! Deliveries can take 15 minutes or four hours. They will vary due to upcoming needs. Some routes will be planned on a schedule but others will occur based on needs that pop up. 

A Red Cross vehicle and gas card will be available to you for this position after a Motor Vehicle Report is run and a brief, online, drivers safety training course is complete.

Habitat GFW is looking for groups of two people to volunteer once every 3 to 4 months for our Aluminum Can Recycling Program.

Responsibilities:

Can Shed Volunteers choose their schedule! You can run the route any day and time during your assigned month; it's very casual. 

This has been an excellent opportunity for our current volunteers to volunteer with their spouse, stay active in the community, and help Habitat raise funds for affordable housing in Greater Fort Wayne.

In 2025, we raised over $26,000 through recycling cans. Our goal in 2026 is to raise over $30,000 to subsidize the cost of one Habitat home for a local family.

Volunteer to assist at the Whitley County Council on Aging weekly on Wednesdays from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm. This is in coordination with our Rural Respite Program.

Like to iron? We are supporting a fundraising event, Night to Shine (details below) and our committee is looking for some help with having linen tablecloths pressed before the event on Friday, February 13th. Is this something you can to help with? There are between 60-75 that need done.

Night to Shine is an event for people with special needs hosted by local churches around the world. It is open to anyone living with disabilities, ages 14 and older. 

This is for the Night to Shine event, NOT FOR GIGIS PLAYHOUSE.

We are in need of a Spanish speaking volunteer to assist participant(s) in communication during programming. Our Spanish speaking population is growing, so is our need for volunteers to help these friends navigate all that GiGi's has to offer. Times will vary. There is also an interest in starting a group for these families if you would like to help get that going!

GiGi's Tutor volunteers/mentors will work 1:1 assisting children and adults with literacy and/or math. We are seeking caring, understanding and energetic people to help our participants succeed. Must be kind and enthusiastic with the desire to help 1 person learn, grow and surpass your expectations. There is training provided by GiGi's to assure volunteers are prepared and comfortable with their role. Each volunteer tutor is only needed as little as 1 hour per week. If you desire to help a child or adult learn to read, write or progress in math skills this is where it's at! 

Sessions run 3x per year; September-December, January-April and May-August

GiGi’s Plus+1 Catering is operated by GiGi University graduates specializing in smoothies, wraps, Croissants, Salads, and a variety of catering services. The vision is to eliminate barriers so that individuals with disabilities can develop their skillset and explore employment opportunities. Learning opportunities include customer service, independence, career training, community integration, building self-confidence, teamwork, promoting acceptance in the community by developing social, interpersonal and occupational skills. 

Job skills assistant will help with food prep for walk in and catering orders. Volunteer will report to the Program Manager Teya, and help the participants focus on tasks and complete tasks as assigned by manager. Volunteer may also assist with cleaning, stocking, and answering phones.

GiGi's is seeking volunteers to assist our young adult participants opportunity to explore their community. We are looking for energetic, caring individuals to join GiGi's adults doing a variety of activities including; going to the library, learning social and job skills, and volunteering to make a difference in their community as well. We are working on many more opportunities to come. Volunteers can choose which outings they wish to assist and as many hours of volunteering as you desire. Any help matters in making a difference in someone else's life. Come check us out and get a tour! Bonus if comfortable driving large passenger van. We have volunteer opportunities within the Elara Caring office to assist with weekly calls, mailings, filing, data entry and numerous other special projects. Weekdays, 8AM - 5PM are preferred. Elara Caring, one of the nation's largest providers of home-based care, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families.

Volunteers are needed to visit with patients and engage them in activities such as playing music, singing, working on a craft project, sharing a special moment or simply providing companionship through listening, talking or holding a hand. Volunteers can sometimes provide respite care visits, allowing family members to take a much-needed break.

Hours are very flexible, weekdays, evenings or weekends. Typically, we ask that you visit your assigned patient 1-2 hours per week. Opportunities are available in Allen, Huntington, Wells, and Whitley Counties. For more information, please respond.

Role Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented volunteer to assist with minor furniture repairs to help prepare donated items for distribution to families in need. This role directly supports our mission to provide safe, functional, and dignified furnishings to households emerging from crisis.

Primary Responsibilities:
*Tighten legs on tables, chairs, and other furniture pieces
*Repair or clean up chips, dents, and surface damage
*Replace or install basic hardware (knobs, bolts, screws, etc.)
*Assemble and prepare bed frames for client use
*Ensure repaired items are safe, sturdy, and ready for distribution

Qualifications:
Basic handyman skills and comfort using hand tools
Attention to detail and commitment to safety
Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
Willingness to lift or move furniture (with assistance as needed)
