Description

If you like to drive, this is the opportunity for you! We're looking for volunteers willing to transport supplies and materials across the region. We need volunteer  to be on call when there is a need! Deliveries can take 15 minutes or four hours. They will vary due to upcoming needs. Some routes will be planned on a schedule but others will occur based on needs that pop up. 

A Red Cross vehicle and gas card will be available to you for this position after a Motor Vehicle Report is run and a brief, online, drivers safety training course is complete.  

Key Responsibilities

Providing transportation assistance for the American Red Cross. Volunteers will be delivering or picking up supplies and materials across the Indiana Region.

By providing a range of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, canned goods, and dairy products, our food pantry aims to alleviate the pressures of accessing healthy food for neighbors in Huntington County. Volunteers assist with the day-to-day activities of the pantry, ensuring a welcoming, well stocked, and hygienic shopping experience. Some Food Pantry volunteers also assist with the collection of food from local donation organizations. 

This particular opening is available on Thursdays from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. for a volunteer to serve weekly in this capacity.

The United with Love mobile unit travels to Roanoke on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 5-6 pm for food appointments. Volunteer help is needed to load the truck with food in our food pantry, take the truck with food to our neighbors in Roanoke in the parking lot of Seminary United Methodist Church, 285 Seminary Street, and then bring any remaining items back to the food pantry in the truck.

This particular opening is available on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 4-6:30 pm for a volunteer to serve twice a month in this capacity.

Our food pantry volunteers are asked to commit to serving weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly for 2-4 hours. Days and hours are flexible depending on the nature of the position and your availability.

Volunteer opportunities are available Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:30 am - 5 pm and Wednesday and Friday 9:30 am - 1 pm.

Elara Caring , a leading care provider in the Midwest, is looking for your administrative expertise that is willing to donate their time to assist team members in the Fort Wayne hospice branch. We have volunteer opportunities within the Elara Caring office to assist with weekly calls, mailings, filing, data entry and numerous other special projects. Weekdays, 8AM - 5PM are preferred. This position will work alongside our Lead Volunteers to help process clothing donations. Some of the tasks to be completed are: sorting and separating clothing, folding clothing, placing items on hangers, filling storage totes, consolidating items to be donated to a partner charity, and general cleaning and upkeep of the building. 

Primarily standing, accommodations can be made for sitting.

There's nothing our residents love more than their bingo time! If you're interested in a 45 min -1 hour long volunteer activity where you bring joy to our wonderfully sassy residents, this is for you! The times and dates are flexible, as we play bingo at all times of the day throughout the week. 

We are looking for a volunteer to manage our supply room. This would include putting away patient supplies, helping keep the supply room organized, and also assisting with ordering supplies and inventory. 

We're on the lookout for talented and passionate wood shop volunteers to join our mission. Together, we’ll create beautiful, handcrafted furniture and wooden toys that will brighten up the lives of families in need.

Our wood shop is equipped with state-of-the-art tools and facilities, and we use them to build a variety of items, from cozy beds and stylish dressers to fun and educational toys. We don’t just make things for ourselves; we donate them to families through our furniture voucher program or sell them at affordable prices in our thrift store. This way, we can help families create a safe and welcoming home environment for everyone.

As a Carpenter’s Son, you will get to use your hands-on skills to build and repair structures that directly benefit these amazing people. Imagine helping them feel safer in their homes and making it easier for them to get in and out. It’s a truly rewarding experience!

Our Carpenter’s Sons get together on Tuesday mornings for coffee and fellowship, and then we head out to tackle various home repair projects around the community. And don’t worry if you’re not a seasoned carpenter. The Carpenter’s Sons are always happy to teach and mentor new volunteers, so you can learn and grow alongside experienced professionals.

If you have carpentry skills or experience (professional or hobbyist level is welcome), or if you’re just starting, we’d love to have you on board! Basic knowledge of tools, materials, and construction methods is a plus, but we’re open to learning from you.

Lifting materials and working on feet for extended periods is okay, as long as you have the strength and stamina. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship are essential. Following instructions and working independently or as part of a team is also important.

As an SVdP Care Van Driver, you’ll play a crucial role in helping clients access medical appointments and food pantries, improving their health and well-being. We provide transportation every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday throughout the year, except for major holidays.

Join Junior Achievement as an In-School Volunteer and make a lasting impact in your community! As a JA volunteer, you’ll bring real-world knowledge into the classroom, delivering fun, hands-on lessons in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. JA provides all the training, materials, and support—you bring your enthusiasm and life experience.  You don’t need to be a teacher—just someone who wants to make a difference.

Standard Delivery In-School Volunteer:  These volunteers visit a class once a week to deliver the JA program. The number of visits vary depending on the grade level, usually 5-7 visits for 30-45 minutes each. Classes run from Pre-K through 12th grade. Training and materials are provided.

JA In A Day Event Volunteer:  These volunteers deliver the JA program, all sessions in one morning. The entire school has JA volunteers in every classroom. It is a one day only commitment for 4-5 hours. Dates are set up with the schools in advance. Training and materials are provided beforehand.

Before their arrival at Lincoln Finance Park, students are prepared in the classroom to participate in a carefully designed simulation that closely resembles real-life budget planning. While visiting, each student will become an adult for the day. All students will be responsible for planning a monthly budget for themselves and their fictional families.  Volunteers will provide guidance to the students as they plan their budgets. Volunteers who offer to assist must participate in an on-site training 30 minutes prior to student arrival on the day of the simulation. This training provides volunteers with the opportunity to understand the in-class program as well as the on-site schedule and procedures. They will gain knowledge and experience about their role in assisting the students. We have volunteer openings for the 2025-2026 school year, contact JA for open dates. 

JA BizTown® combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to our simulated town. This popular learning experience allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. Volunteering is a one day commitment that includes an on-site training one hour prior to student arrival. Each volunteer will then be assigned a business where they will assist a group of 4-10 students throughout their work tasks and responsibilities. We're looking for a nurturing Foster Grandma to bring warmth and gentle care into the lives of our littlest ones! Your role volunteering with babies would include: reading picture books, singing soft lullabies to soothe and comfort, gently rocking babies, making music and sharing joyful sounds, using simple words to build early vocabulary to support infant development, and bonding with infants who need extra love. This is a special opportunity to be a meaningful part of a child’s earliest memories!

We’re looking for a Foster Grandparent to join our toddler team — someone who believes in the magic of pretend and has a big heart and playful spirit! Your role would include: Playing pretend and bringing imagination to life, encouraging basic social skills like sharing and taking turns, using rich and descriptive language to grow little vocabularies, and snuggling up to read books together. If you believe that every toddler needs a little extra love, attention, and encouragement, then this is the volunteer opportunity for you!

Volunteer at a Fort Wayne Community or East Allen County school near you! This is your opportunity to mentor and tutor children ages kindergarten through third grade. Choose to focus on strengthening students' literacy skills 1:1, or helping children in a classroom environment. After passing your required background checks, we will invite you to a 5-day orientation to prepare you for your mentoring experience.

We’re looking for a passionate and knowledgeable gardener to take the lead in planning and maintaining our garden spaces. This role is ideal for someone interested in leading a fruit and vegetable garden, but some flower planting and planning can also be incorporated. The Lead Gardener will decide what to plant, where, and when, and will create a seasonal care schedule that outlines tasks like watering, weeding, pruning, and harvesting. Once a plan is in place, additional volunteers will be recruited to help carry it out, with the Lead Gardener providing guidance and support. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys both the creative and practical sides of gardening and wants to help our garden thrive year-round. 

**We understand it may be late in the season for much planting, but we’re open to any remaining seasonal tasks and welcome planning ahead for next year’s garden.

Assist with washing, drying and folding rented linens. Linens can be washed onsite at The Gown Garden  They can also be taken home to be washed and returned. Totes are available to be used.

Assist as needed with special events, fundraisers, events taking place in our garden venue, helping in our warehouse, assisting at The Gown Garden, and wherever help is needed.  We are flexible with volunteers hours. Lots of opportunities to match your skills.

Girls on the Run Northeast Indiana is looking for volunteers for its end of season final 5K celebration.  The event will take place on Sunday November 23rd at Shoaff Park in Fort Wayne, IN.  The festivities begin at 1:00pm with the 5K kicking off at 3:00pm. 

We are looking for individuals to help with set up, clean up, managing the water station, and placing medals on finishers.  We also need volunteers to staff our pre-5K activities including happy hair, bling your bib, friendship bracelets, and inspiration station.  All materials will be provided for you.

Power House is a Christian youth center in New Haven that offers after school programming for 7th-12th grade students.  We offer a healthy snack, homework help, life skills classes, free time for the youth, and then provide dinner for the students every night.  Volunteers would engage with students, having conversations with them, and engage in the activities that are taking place.  We are searching for volunteers that would be able to commit to 1 afternoon a week, or every other week.

The volunteer process is fairly simple.  There is a short application, and 2 hour training for new volunteers.  Since we work directly with youth, there is a background check that will be completed as well.

We are looking for someone who would like to serve the ladies in our community by painting their nails on Sunday afternoons! We never miss nail day, and with our growing community, we are running out of hands-pun intended! You do not have to be a professional or a perfectionist, our ladies will just be happy that their nails are being done! If this is something you would be interested in, please respond!

The time of day currently is 2pm, but times on Sundays and Saturdays are flexible. 

Repair formal and semi-formal dresses as needed. Repairing of items could include zippers, button, and hems. Dresses can be picked up at The Gown Garden and taken home to be mended. 

We welcome your assistance in keeping our Saturday weekly YLNI Summer Farmer's Market running smoothly and looking good! Volunteers would help wipe down tables, check on and empty trash cans, offer water to our musicians and supporting police officers. We hope to continue each Saturday outside through the end of October so dress according for the weather. It's a great way to be outdoors with community and find some great goodies along the way! Suggested parking next to Cottage Flowers. 

Do you enjoy working outdoors? Our nonprofit learning center (located in northwest Fort Wayne) is in need of a regular (weekly or biweekly) visit from a plant-loving volunteer.  We’re looking for someone from April through October who has experience with pruning, light weeding, and giving advice on keeping our outdoor environment looking its best.  Garden tools & supplies provided onsite. Spread awareness of the organization throughout the community. Network with resources and share/speak about our mission with churches, non-profit organizations in and around Allen County and at events. Help distribute information about From This Day Forward and the Gown Garden. 

We are in need of a volunteer who can help with scanning, filing and calling patients to remind them of their appointments. If you can speak Spanish that is an added bonus! Hours are flexible, Monday through Friday, either morning or afternoon, 3-4 hour shifts. 

Our annual Coats for Kids runs November/December. All year round our volunteers knit/crochet hats and scarves to accompany the over 8,000 coats we hand out to children in need. We have donated yarn at our office that can be picked up for use with this project. Keep those hands busy while watching tv and keeping your social distance! We also accept baby blankets and lap blankets. 

Join us the first Thursday of each month (except September) at 10 am at our office, 3401 Lake Avenue, Suite 4 for fellowship with other knitters/crocheters! Bring a project to work on. Weather notes: if FWCS are closed there will be no group meeting. 

Heart to Heart Hospice is looking for a volunteer to come into our office and assist with cleaning. This would include helping clean our kitchenette, tables and floors, vacuuming, taking out the trash, and dusting. If you enjoy cleaning, this is the volunteer opportunity for you! Never cooked a lasagna before? We have a kind group of volunteers who will support you and share their recipes. 

As a Lasagna Love Chef, you will cook and deliver a lasagna entrée to your matched family on a mutually agreeable date and time. You can also offer another option in lieu of lasagna so the family can choose but that’s up to you. 

There is a Lasagna Love volunteer website portal with many resources including training videos, recipes, delivery notices, and so much more.  The portal is how you find out information about your "match" so you have control over the timing of your delivery. Elara Caring, one of the nation's largest providers of home-based care, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families .

Volunteers are needed to visit with patients and engage them in activities such as playing music, singing, working on a craft project, sharing a special moment or simply providing companionship through listening, talking or holding a hand. Volunteers can sometimes provide respite care visits, allowing family members to take a much-needed break.

Hours are very flexible, weekdays, evenings or weekends. Typically, we ask that you visit your assigned patient 1-2 hours per week. Opportunities are available in Allen, Huntington, Wells, and Whitley Counties. For more information, please respond. 

The Wellspring Shoppe is a clothing boutique that supplies free clothing to over 2,500 individuals a year. We receive donations year-round and need help sorting and stocking our boutique and also helping with clients as they shop in our boutique.  This is a great opportunity for anyone that loves organizing, fashion and customer service! 

The Shoppe hours are Mondays from 10:00am-2:00pm, Tuesdays from 2:30-6:00pm, Thursdays from 10:00am-2:00pm, and the second Saturday of each month from 9:00am-1:00pm.  You can help for just an hour or two, or for the whole 4 hours.  You can volunteer as much or little as you would like to.

Our healthy nutrition program is designed for clients to get fresh produce weekly by either attending a class or participating in the Food Bank or Clothing Shoppe. We need help bagging up the individual bags on Tuesdays from 9 - 11 am. We also sometimes have a need for our Registered Dietician to have an assistant during her various classes.

Our mobile food pantry (Wellspring on Wheels) serves every Tues/Thurs/Fri from 10am-12pm at pre selected sites around the county. 

We are looking for kind and compassionate people to help serve the food insecure. Volunteers will help bag food for clients and help with set- up and tear down of the mobile food pantry. 

We feed over 200 families every month in our mobile food pantry and distributed over 50,000 pounds of food in 2023!

Assisting full-time Administrative Assistant which includes:

Greets anyone who enters the building. answer phones, transfer calls, answer questions, give directions, various tasking and manage the flow of traffic in the office!

Volunteers will need to complete a volunteer application and have background checks conducted at Wellspring's expense. 

Any family in Allen County struggling with food insecurity is welcome to visit our food bank once every 30 days.  Each family can choose their food and will receive a choice of meat, fresh fruits and vegetables when available. 

We are looking for kind and compassionate people to help serve at our food bank Monday-Friday. Volunteers may assist with the completion of an intake with a client, gather food and hygiene items for them, and place order on table for them to take.

We serve 300-400+ families each month and are always looking for more help!

PS: Volunteers will need to have background checks conducted at Wellspring's expense. 

Our after-school program is looking for friendly individuals who can assist 1st-8th grade participants with homework, reading and/or educational games during scheduled homework time, 3:30-4:30pm Monday-Thursday during the academic school year. You may volunteer one day a week, two, three or all four! Volunteers may work one-on-one with children or may work with a small group depending on attendance numbers. This is a great opportunity for former educators or individuals who enjoy working with youth.

United With Love office volunteers assist the Office Manager in many positions. Available volunteer positions include receptionist, interviewer, and processor.  The receptionist is generally the first point of contact for our neighbors in need. The receptionist receives requests for help, the interviewer screens the requests, verifies the need, and then refers the request to a United with Love program or ministry, church ministry, or community agency. The processor then records the information gathered during the interview process and the outcomes and referrals made. After the initial assistance, a specialized United With Love interviewer follows up to ensure the need was met and offers continued support in the form of prayer, additional referrals, and potentially even one-to-one coaching.

Trail Buddies invites people who have a disability or who are unable to pedal a bike independently to go for a ride in the fresh air using our specialized bikes, known as the Duet Bike. This free, inclusive program allows children and adults to be pedaled by caring, trained volunteers with our specialized bikes. Trail Buddies is available to those of all ages. Volunteers needed to pedal the Duet Bike and to ride alongside for safety. 

Volunteers of Covered With Love Resale Store help keep the store merchandise organized and restocked, sort clothing, run the register, and perform other work as needed.  

Our resale store volunteers will commit to serving weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly for 2-4 hours. Days and hours are flexible depending on the nature of the position and your availability.

We are a small, collaborative team dedicated to ensuring that every client we serve experiences dignity and care. Volunteers are an essential part of our work—and this role directly contributes to our ability to repair and prepare furniture for families in need.

Primary Responsibilities:
*Sort and organize the tool/workbench area to maintain a clean and efficient workspace
*Ensure tools are labeled and stored properly
*Dispose of broken or unusable items appropriately
*Maintain basic inventory of supplies (glue, screws, drill bits, etc.)

*Repair or clean up chips, dents, and surface damage
*Replace or install basic hardware (knobs, bolts, screws, etc.)
*Assemble and prepare bed frames for client use
*Ensure repaired items are safe, sturdy, and ready for distribution

Qualifications:
Basic handyman skills and comfort using hand tools
Attention to detail and commitment to safety
Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision
Willingness to lift or move furniture (with assistance as needed)

Impact:
Each item you repair helps turn an empty space into a real home. By donating a few hours a week, you’ll be helping us ensure every family we serve receives quality, reliable furnishings they can trust.

Girls on the Run is looking for individuals who are interested in mentoring a team of 8-15 girls using our evidence based curriculum.  Coaches must be at least 18 years of age and consent to a background check.  Every volunteer receives free, comprehensive training and all materials necessary to be a successful coach.  Running experience is not required!  Click here to submit a new coach application.

Many teams meet in the afternoon, after the school day ends, while other teams meet later in the evening.  We will work with you to find a site and time that best fits your schedule.  Our Girls on the Run program, designed for girls in grades 3rd-5th, runs for 8 weeks and meets twice per week for 75 minutes each session.  Heart & Sole, our program geared toward 6th-8th grade girls, also runs for 8 weeks and meets once per week for 120 minutes.

Our fall season will begin the week of September 8th and run through the week of October 27th.  Teams do not meet over school holidays.  The final 5K will take place November 23rd at 3pm at Shoaff Park in Fort Wayne.

Volunteer with Heartland Hospice. You can volunteer in a variety of ways. We will find you patients to visit, near where you live!

We have patients in a 50 mile radius of Fort Wayne- they would love for you to visit!

Friendly Visits: Visit with a patient typically for about an hour. Play games, play cards, listen to music, watch tv or movies, talk and more. Share your talents and time with someone who would truly appreciate it.

Caregiver Relief: Help families that are taking care of someone they love. Give them a much needed break and spend time with their loved one. Typically about 2-4 hours.

Vigil Relief: Help us fulfill our philosophy that a patient should never die alone or feel alone when they die. Sit with a patient so they are not alone. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to learn more about connecting with our amazing patients.

Train to be a Long Term Care Volunteer Ombudsman! Training consist of 4 hours; including a shadow with a current Volunteer Ombudsman in a nursing home. All Volunteer Ombudsman visit 1 nursing home 2 times per month with a suggestion of 4 hours per month. We work with the volunteer to choose a nursing home that would be convenient; i.e. close to home or work. Volunteers can visit any day or time that they choose. Volunteers follow up with nursing home residents to ensure that their needs are being met. Building relationships with those living in the nursing home is key. There are 4 mandatory training sessions per year; which keeps the volunteer certified through the Indiana State Ombudsman office. Someone living in a nursing home would love a visit from you! 

We are looking for some volunteer painters to paint a few walls and one office. We have the paint and all the supplies needed. If you are great at painting, and need something to do, this will be a great opportunity for you. It should only take a day to complete. Community Educators are volunteer speakers who help provide education and expand the reach of Alzheimer's Association programs. Community Educators deliver Alzheimer's Association programs on topics related to Alzheimer's disease and other dementias using prepared materials. 

These volunteers provide programs scheduled by Association staff and help identify potential community partners and education venues using their established community networks. Community educators assure that the general public, caregivers and people living with Alzheimer's or dementia are linked to Alzheimer's Association programs and our free 24/7 Helpline. They are true partners with our staff and extend the reach of our programs to all communities.

Community Educator Volunteer Role Description

The Lighthouse Community Center (3000 E. State Blvd) is always looking for energetic individuals to assist with lawn cleanup.  This position is flexible, and ongoing. We have multiple properties and areas that need assistance.  

We are a faith based residential program for men with life altering addictions, in crisis or aging out of the foster care program.  

If you are interested in helping us maintain and enhance our properties, please reach out to us.  We would love to have you apart of our volunteer family. We welcome TEAMS to join us as well. Many hands make light work!

Helping Hands is CHFB's primary food distribution volunteer event! Join us each Saturday morning as we distribute thousands of pounds of food to hundreds of families. A surefire way to feed your soul, and make a massive impact in the fight against food insecurity on our nine county service area!

Please arrive at 999 E. Tillman between 6:45 & 7:00 AM, you will need to park in the Fire Police, City County Credit Union, Midwest America Credit Union, or Domino's Pizza parking lots. All of these are directly next to CHFB. 

Enter in through the “Volunteer Entrance” door. Please check in with me, Mis Embury, at the Volunteer Manager Desk / check-in table set up where you can register your attendance on an iPad (if you registered online) or by using the paper sign-in sheet. We will assign positions when you arrive and will begin the Drive Through as soon as we have enough help. Helping Hands is scheduled until 11AM, but on average, finishes early.

We are looking for someone to share their musical talents with our hospice patients and families. Currently, this would mean going into someone's home or a nursing facility (nursing home or assisted living facility) with a mask on and playing music. Patients enjoy music and would love for you to share your talent with them! We'd love to have you join our team. 

Heart to Heart Hospice serves Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley counties.

There is a saying that everything is marketing. This is true at Science Central. Everything we do is aimed at being the best educational facility that we can. Marketing has a large role in getting our message out there to the public. As a marketing volunteer you will be working in graphic design, updating our website (WordPress), working on social media, photo editing, and so much more. Come help us spread the joy of science to our public.

It takes a lot to keep Science Central running. We have a history of reaching out to groups in our community for aid. We have many projects, both inside and outside of the building, that large groups can help with. These could be painting, cleaning, building projects, stuffing envelops, or conducting tabletop activities with the visitors. If your group is looking for a fun bonding activity, consider helping out at Science Central. Some supplies (shovels, gloves, scrub brushes, etc.) will need to be provided by your group. Other than exceeding gratefulness, no compensation is made for the use of personal gas, supplies, etc. If your group is looking for a fun bonding activity, consider helping out at Science Central.

At Science Central we have a hands on approach to teaching science. We also have a hands on approach to our exhibits. We have built many of the exhibits on our floor. We also service them ourselves. As a volunteer you can assist the Science Central facilities department in all aspects of daily operation. Projects will vary depending on the area of greatest need. We need volunteer who know the ins and outs of cabinetry, electricity, engineering, gardening and more. If you have a skill to lend, we could use your help.

Education is the largest department at Science Central and is at the heart of everything we do. As an educational volunteer you have a few paths that you can take as you gain experience and have fun. You can learn to care for our various animals, teach visitors about fossils, participate in demos, and so much more. Have fun, teach others, and learn at the same time.

Play an important role in helping to make fighting cancer a top priority with federal, state, and local elected officials. Help increase funding for cancer research, prevention, and screening programs, pass laws to reduce the burden of tobacco, or build programs to address health disparities and improve the quality of life for those affected by cancer. Work in teams at the local level to build relationships with your elected officials and share your story. Our highly organized volunteer program gives you access to trainings, tools and resources to amplify your voice and your impact.
