The Indiana Bar Foundation invites you to continue supporting civics education by volunteering as a judge for our 2026 We the People competitions! As part of our flagship We the People program, more than 1,000 students from classes statewide have been studying the U.S. Constitution and legal system, the Bill of Rights, and the history and evolution of our American democracy. We the People culminates in a competition featuring simulated congressional hearings where students testify before a panel of community judges acting as members of Congress.

You do not need to be a constitutional scholar or have a legal background to volunteer as a judge. All that is required is a baseline knowledge of American history, citizenship, and our system of government, plus a willingness to engage in thoughtful conversation with middle and/or high school students as they showcase the depth and breadth of their knowledge. The Indiana Bar Foundation will supply you with all the training, materials, and information you need to be successful.

This event is fast approaching and we need your help - No previous BMX experience is required.

Join us in welcoming thousands of athletes, families, and fans from across the country to Fort Wayne for the 2026 Hoosier National BMX Championship, one of the largest BMX racing events in the Midwest. The event will take place August 13–16, 2026, at Fort Wayne BMX in Franke Park and will bring competitors of all ages together for four days of exciting national-level racing.

Volunteers play a critical role in creating a memorable experience for visitors while supporting one of Fort Wayne's premier sporting events. Whether you enjoy interacting with guests, helping behind the scenes, or working in a fast-paced environment, there is a volunteer opportunity for everyone.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:
Visitor Guides & Parking Attendants – Welcome visitors, assist with parking, distribute event information, and help create a positive first impression for guests arriving from across the country.
Cashiers – Assist guests at concession locations, process transactions, and provide friendly customer service throughout the event.
Concessions Team Members – Help prepare and serve food and beverages, including grill operations, food assembly, and beverage stations.
Floaters/Runners – Support event operations by restocking supplies, assisting concession teams, and helping wherever needed to keep the event running smoothly.

Volunteers should be enthusiastic, dependable, and committed to providing a welcoming experience for visitors. You'll have the opportunity to support a nationally recognized sporting event, meet people from across the country, and help showcase Fort Wayne as a premier destination for sports tourism. We invite individuals, families, civic groups, and community organizations to get involved and be part of this exciting event.

New moms may choose a homemade knitted or crocheted blanket when visiting A Baby's Closet.  Size approximately 30" by 36".  Moms and their babies love these blankets. Show your creativity! Blankets can be delivered to Associated Churches, 602 E. Wayne St, Fort Wayne, on Monday-Thursday from 8-3 pm and Fri from 8-12.

A Baby's Closet helps families experiencing hardship by providing baby items to safely take care of their children.  Moms earn coupons by going to pre-natal and pediatric appointments, parenting education, and continuing their education. 

Meet and assist families with babies and young children at A Baby's Closet (ABC).  As an ABC, volunteer, you will greet families and provide customer service to our clients.  Volunteers should possess a cooperative, loving attitude and be able to work closely with staff, other volunteers, and customers.  You may choose to volunteer weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly. Volunteers must first meet with the ABC Director or the Volunteer Coordinator before volunteering. (How does ABC work? ABC provides essential baby items to mothers who receive prenatal care, attend childbirth classes, take their children to well-child appointments, and keep immunizations up-to-date.  Coupons are received from service providers to be used for items at ABC.)

Calling Women in the Community! Are you looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of local mothers with infants and young children? By mentoring with Journey Beside Mothers you can do just that!

We need friendly faces to help with our upcoming fundraiser 70's hippie party. Would you like to volunteer with us? Thank you so much. Hippie attire optional.

We are looking for kind volunteers for one on one visits with our residents in our community. Many  people love a good chat, a shared story, or to play games. Time committment is 30  minutes to an hour any day that fits your schedule between 10 am - 6 pm. We are open 7 days a week.

Each volunteer serves a three-hour shift at one of our 10 tour stops. No experience is needed as we offer pre-event instruction and specific, easy details when you arrive for your shift.  

As a thank you for your service, you’ll receive a free ticket (one ticket per volunteer shift worked) for the tour so you can enjoy our homes as well as help us out.

Science Central is always accepting new volunteers for our educational team.

New Volunteer Introduction: Friday, July 31, 6:00-7:00 PM at Science Central.
Tour the building, meet other new volunteers, and learn more about our volunteer opportunities.

Volunteers in our Education Department may help our team with demonstrations, engage with visitors on the exhibit floor, or assist with classes, camps, birthday parties, and outreach programs, both at the museum and out in our community.

Volunteers with a passion for animals might also assist in caring for our Animal Ambassadors who reside in the Nature Nook.

Volunteers who have a knack for organization might help manage curriculum or build lab kits for learning opportunities.

This department is a perfect fit for someone who enjoys working with people and sharing a passion for science.

You can gain experience at a nationally recognized science museum while developing public speaking and communication skills. You will make new connections and friends while supporting your community with science education.

Interests:

Requirements: Volunteers must be 14 years old or in the ninth grade.

Recognition: Volunteers who reach 50 hours of service receive a free family membership for one year.

This event kicks off our campaign to Bring Back The Bike! We are raising funds to install a brand new interactive exhibit, where everyone, young and old, will be able to ride a High Wire Bicycle nearly 30 feet high at Science Central. This will be a new and upgraded version of the original “High Rail” bike exhibit, which was decommissioned years ago.

The Bike Rally will take place on August 15, from 12 pm to 5 PM. Rally participants will start at Science Central and roll or stroll through downtown Fort Wayne, visiting iconic businesses to receive free swag and a puzzle piece at each location. They will return to Science Central to celebrate the completion of the trail and assembling their puzzle.

This event relies on the support and enthusiasm of our volunteers! All volunteers will receive a free drawstring bag, 50% off tickets to the Bike Rally event, as well as water and snacks.

Volunteers will staff Activity Tables at each location. At the table, they will greet Bike Rally participants when they arrive and document that they visited that particular location. They will provide them with their puzzle piece and free swag. They may also hand out water or demonstrate an educational science activity!

Volunteers should also greet the general public in a friendly manner and inform them about both the bike rally as well as how they can help Bring Back the Bike!

Hey all you Hope Heroes!!  It’s that time again to get together to pack meals for the hungry, specifically to feed the those in greatest need served by Feed the Hungry, out of South Bend (Impact — Feed The Hungry).  Are you in?!?  Let’s do this!!

We’ll be packing meals on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, from 9:00 until 11:00 AM at The Greenhaus by Holy Cross located in the N Anthony Shopping Center at 3504 N Anthony Blvd in Fort Wayne (next to Dollar General). Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow for the check-in process.

While there is no cost to attend, donations are welcome.  We recommend a $10 donation.  Or…think about donating the cost of a carton of meals.  That carton you will pack feed 216 children and costs just $75.  That’s a mere $.35 per meal!  What can we do without once or twice that will equal 216 meals?  Feel free to donate as many boxes as you’d like to feed those who have so little.

We are looking forward to seeing you and partnering with you to feed the hungry!

Help us sort food & hygiene donations on Tuesday, September 8th. Volunteers will assist with receiving incoming food drop offs then sorting food into various categories.

This donation drive is a multi-agency drive benefitting Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul, Miss Virginia's Food Pantry, A Baby's Closet, and St. Mary's Soup Kitchen.

Join us for our second seed collection of the year as we target seeds from graminoids which will help us restore the marsh! Learn to identify sedges, rushes, and grasses, and collect seeds in a sustainable manner as we hike along the towpath trail. Please park at the Towpath Trailhead just off of Glendale Rd, neighboring Canterbury High School.

Love a good game of Bingo? Join us at Byron Health Center for a fun-filled time with our residents! Volunteers will help bring residents to the common areas, assist with Bingo gameplay, and cheer everyone on as we play together. Our Bingo volunteers will visit our Women’s Neighborhood for a game, our Men’s Neighborhood for a game, and then spend time with our Assisted Living and open neighborhoods for more Bingo, conversation, and connection.

Bring a friend (who will also need to complete a volunteer waiver) and join us for an afternoon of laughs, friendly competition, and meaningful moments with our residents!

Join us on a short hike to identify and collect seed heads of a few native plant species. Use these seeds to start your own native habitat in your backyard or help restore our preserves by growing plants with us. Either way, our wild community wins! We have nine openings remaining to help with teardown of the Open Streets route. Volunteers are needed from 3:45 -5:30 PM helping to remove barricades, A-frames signs, tents and other items. Volunteers should be able to comfortable lift 20 pound object. Each volunteer will receive an event t-shirt and drawstring backpack.

Join us to learn why and how to identify invasive Callery Pear, Bush Honeysuckle, and Autumn Olive, then hike with us to cut and treat as many of these as we can! Removing invasive species is crucial to preserving biodiversity, and we can't do it without you. Come make an impact in your community! Please dress for the weather and be prepared to get dirty! We will provide instruction, hand tools and gloves. Meet us in the grassy lot at 5013 Engle Rd, which is the next right after passing Hempton Roast Coffee heading east on Engle Rd.

afO puts on multiple theatrical performances throughout the year, and we need good stage hands to help bring these stories to life!

Stage hand duties may include:
Moving set pieces and props during scene changes
Set and reset props before and after performances
Help actors with quick costume changes
Keep backstage areas quiet, organized, and safe
Follow cues from the stage manager
Assist with setup and cleanup before and after performances

Join us for Downtown's annual celebration of Fright Night on Saturday, October 17th, 2026.  We will have shuttles to provide the community with quick transportation to activities listed in the Fright Night Guide.  The Trolley will have several 3 hour shift options from 11:30am-10:30pm.  The days festivities include Trick or Treating from 12pm-3pm, Zombie Parade at 3:00pm, various community events from 3:00pm-7:00pm, and Adult Bar Crawl from 7:00pm-10:00pm.

From time to time, Heart to Heart Hospice cares for patients who don’t have family close by, or whose loved ones need to step away briefly but don’t want them to be alone during their final moments. We are looking for someone with a flexible schedule who can sit with a patient near the end of life, offering comfort simply through their presence. This role is best suited for a compassionate individual who is comfortable providing support and presence during the end-of-life journey.

We are seeking compassionate Vet-to-Vet Hospice Volunteers to provide companionship and support to veterans in their final journey. Through shared stories, mutual understanding, and simple presence, you can bring comfort, dignity, and connection to those who once served our country.

A hospice patient companion volunteer is someone who provides non-medical, compassionate support to people receiving hospice care, typically near the end of life. Their primary role is to offer presence, comfort, and emotional support to patients and sometimes their families.

What They Do:

They do not provide medical care, administer medications, or perform clinical duties.

Heart to Heart Hospice is looking for compassionate volunteers to help support patients and families through weekly check-in calls.

As a Tuck-In Call Volunteer, you will make friendly phone calls every Thursday to patients or their caregivers to ensure they feel supported and prepared for the days ahead. These calls help our care team confirm that patients are comfortable, have the supplies they need, and know they are not alone.

The 18th Annual Allen County Safety Fair is a free community event on Saturday, September 12 from 10 am - 1 pm. It will be held at both the Public Safety Academy and the Safety Village, both located across the street from each other. Whitley County Council on Aging/ Woodlands Senior Activity Center's mission is to enable the senior citizens of Whitley County to live confident, independent and productive lives by providing educational programs and services.

We are looking for non-profit professionals to serve on our Executive Board, which requires attendance at meetings, willingness to share talents and expertise, and serving WCCOA interests with fundraising activities. 

Whitley County Council on Aging/ Woodlands Senior Activity Center's mission is to enable the senior citizens of Whitley County to live confident, independent and productive lives by providing educational programs and services.

Volunteers need to assist the Activities Department in hosting events at The Woodlands in Columbia City, Indiana. These activites could be day to day activities, special fundraising events and more. 

Whitley County Council on Aging/ Woodlands Senior Activity Center's mission is to enable the senior citizens of Whitley County to live confident, independent and productive lives by providing educational programs and services.

Volunteer assists the Activities Department to fullfill scheduled trips on a monthly basis. Travel Driver is responsible for driving a 14-passenger bus from the Woodlands Activity Center in Columbia City to scheduled stops. The Travel Driver ensures safe travel and wellness of participants. Cost of travel activity is included for the Travel Driver volunteer. 

Classes:

Volunteers are invited to share their talents by teaching a new skill to our guests. Whether you have experience in crocheting, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, or another creative or practical skill, we welcome the opportunity for you to lead a class.

Teaching a skill not only provides a meaningful activity but also empowers our guests, builds confidence, and fosters a sense of community. Volunteers should be patient, encouraging, and prepared to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for all participants.

Whitley County Council on Aging/ Woodlands Senior Activity Center's mission is to enable the senior citizens of Whitley County to live confident, independent and productive lives by providing educational programs and services.

Volunteers deliver freshly-cooked meals to participants in Whitley County. Volunteer collects money or advises participant on low funds for meals. Volunteers check on participants for signs of distress and notify front desk of any irregularities in delivery or appearance.

Whitley County Council on Aging/ Woodlands Senior Activity Center's mission is to enable the senior citizens of Whitley County to live confident, independent and productive lives by providing educational programs and services.

Volunteers answer phones and assist caller or transfer to the correct individual. Assist participants with sign-in on My Senior Center. Accept money from participants dining in and mark on meal log. Assist with projects as needed. Check in and out medical equipment as needed. Assist with mailing newsletters once a month by sealing and adding address labels. 

This event is designed for individuals ages 5 and older with special needs (adults too) to have the opportunity to participate in a team sport with the support of volunteers.

Hey, want to be part of something awesome? The City of Fort Wayne Greenways and Trails team is on the lookout for folks to join as Greenway Rangers and help keep our sidepath trails in top shape.

Oh, and if you’re wondering, a sidepath is just a fancy name for a two-way trail that runs right along the road-think bikes, joggers, and dog-walkers all sharing the lane.

Here’s what you’d be doing as a Greenway Ranger:

- Patrol your own little stretch of trail (half a mile to a mile) once a week from April through October. Winter          patrols? Totally your call.

- Notice anything weird—like graffiti, fallen branches, or cracks in the path? Give the Program Manager a quick

  shout.

- Track your patrol hours each month. Nothing tricky, promise.

- Pick up litter, clear away small branches, sweep up debris—just the easy stuff. If it’s something bigger, let the

  Program Manager know and they’ll handle it.

Our current bilingual opportunities include:

• Read and record Spanish-language programs when a regular reader is absent by becoming a Spanish-language Substitute Recorded Reader. Volunteers for these programs must be fluent in reading and speaking both Spanish and English. Subs receive a weekly email notification of upcoming opportunities to cover a program, and may select opportunities that fit your schedule and interests. Materials are read from hard copy and digital touchscreen tablet. Programs are usually 30 minutes or one hour of recording, within a 90-minute recording session timeslot. We can work with your schedule, Monday-Friday between 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Training on equipment and reading materials will be provided.

Downtown Fort Wayne is seeking volunteers inerested in our new 2-day festival celebrating the 10 year anniversary of public art through the Art this Way program.  This festival will be on Broadway from Jefferson to Dynomo Alley at Electric Works.  Specific jobs will be available closer to the event.

Our annual Coats for Kids runs November/December. All year round our volunteers knit/crochet hats and scarves to accompany the over 10,000 coats we hand out to children in need. We have donated yarn at our office that can be picked up for use with this project. Keep those hands busy while watching tv and keeping your social distance! We also accept baby blankets and lap blankets. 

Join us the first Thursday of each month (except September) at 10 am at our office, 3401 Lake Avenue, Suite 4 for fellowship with other knitters/crocheters! Our group is called "The Yarnsters" and we have a lot of fun! Bring a project to work on. Weather notes: if FWCS are closed there will be no group meeting.

You can bring joy and connection to Lutheran Life Villages - Kendallville. Do you have a caring heart and a little time to share? Our Assisted Living community is looking for warm, compassionate volunteers to help make each day brighter for our residents.

We could use volunteers to come in and read to nonverbal residents. This can really be any time. We could always use volunteers to play a game of some sort in the evenings. We play balloon ball at 4:30 pm every day. On Saturdays, we can have someone come in to help with exercise or play bingo from 9:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.

We would love to have volunteers spend time one-to-one, listening and reminiscing about the “good old days,” playing piano (or other musical instruments) if you are musically-minded, or helping to facilitate arts and crafts or games with those who call Lutheran Life Villages home.

Specific needs include Bingo callers, playing cards with residents (especially euchre), reading group leaders for our "Cardinal Corner" sessions (especially in the evenings), entertainers (musical, dancers, you name it), and leading craft projects. We would love to be able to add volunteers to the schedule for regular days and times.

Primary responsibility is to assist customers in finding affordable formal wear, semi-formal wear, jewelry, shoes and other items. Assist brides with finding their 'Say YES to the Dress' gown and accessories. Assist with basic boutique upkeep including incoming donations. Help as needed with special events throughout the year. Hours are flexible.

Assist in organizing event decor including but not limited to linens, florals, decor and other items stored in our warehouse location. Also, assist with packing and unpacking rental orders. Pickup returned orders from the Gown Garden and take to the warehouse for unpacking. This could include lifting, folding linens, organizing items, sorting, inventorying, etc.  Hours are flexible.

Our garden venue is outdoors and is in need of ongoing maintenance.  There are  many plants, trees and shrub. This is perfect for families to volunteer together! Can be done at anytime that fits your schedule!

Assist as needed with special events, fundraisers, events taking place in our garden venue, helping in our warehouse, assisting at The Gown Garden, and wherever help is needed.  Volunteer hours are flexible. There are lots of opportunities to match your skills and interests.

We are in need of individuals to assist at our front desk. This person is responsible for allowing individuals into our building for appointments, accepting and sorting mail, receiving packages, answering the phone, and other office tasks as assigned.

Whether you come as a family or with friends, coworkers, classmates, or teammates, preparing a meal for our guests is a meaningful and rewarding experience. You can choose to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner, either in our beautiful gourmet kitchen or by bringing food from a commercial kitchen or restaurant. 

Volunteers typically cook for 12–15 people at our Lutheran location and 10-12 people at our Dupont location. We don’t require you to accommodate specific dietary needs, guests are always welcome to prepare something else from the pantry if needed.

Making a difference to families staying at the Hope's Harbor!  

We’re looking for someone to help care for and maintain our flower gardens throughout the growing season. Now that the flowers are planted, we are seeking a volunteer who can stop by regularly—ideally weekly—to help keep the garden beds healthy, tidy, and thriving. Responsibilities may include watering, weeding, trimming and pruning, deadheading flowers, mulching, seasonal cleanup, and general garden upkeep.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being outdoors, has a love for gardening, and is comfortable working independently with routine garden care. Flexible scheduling is available, but consistency is especially helpful to keep the gardens looking their best.

This role is centered around something simple but meaningful: being there for our guests. Our families are walking through long, often overwhelming days at the hospital, and coming back to a warm, welcoming space (and a kind, helpful person) can make all the difference.

Care & Comfort Crew volunteers are that presence. Greeting guests, helping answer questions, light cleaning or cooking, lending a hand where needed, and just creating a sense of calm and care throughout the home. It’s less about big tasks and more about being there, whenever they need someone. 

Shifts are 2 hours (9am–4pm), Monday–Friday, and we’re hoping for a weekly or bi-monthly commitment. If you’re interested in serving but need a small adjustment to one of these timeframes, we still encourage you to apply — we’re happy to explore whether a consistent alternative can work. 

All Care and Comfort Crew volunteers are required to attend an orientation and training prior to their first shift.

We are looking for a handy volunteer who can install dollies with casters to the bottom of four barrels (plastic drums). We have the supplies and a basic toolkit. The volunteer will need to bring their own drill and necessary tools for the job. 

We are located at 915 S. Clinton St., Fort Wayne, IN 46802 in the Noll Catholic Center.

The volunteer can accomplish this job anytime during our office hours (8am-5pm Mon-Thurs, 8am-12pm Fri).
