We are seeking volunteers to  help to maintain a small flower garden from spring to fall.

Position requires being able to pull, bend, pull weeds, plant flowers, walk on uneven terrain. 

Catholic Charities is looking for volunteer interpreters that are fluent in Spanish or Swahili to help us effectively communicate and bridge language gaps with our refugee clients that also speak Spanish or Swahili. This opportunity may occur at our downtown office, in the clients' homes, or at medical appointments, all within Fort Wayne. These appointments will typically occur between Monday-Friday during business hours and the volunteer's availability.

Catholic Charities in Fort Wayne is looking for volunteer drivers to help provide transportation to our refugee clients.  Many of our refugee clients do not have access to transportation, making it difficult to run errands such as going to the grocery store or the bank, going to job interviews, or even going to the gym. As a volunteer driver, you can have a positive impact on our refugee clients as they settle into the Fort Wayne community.  The schedule is based on when volunteers are available to provide round trip transportation. The volunteer would use their own personal vehicle and gas. 

Interested volunteers must meet the following requirements:

Distribute sack lunches in a designated area. This is a rewarding project as the clients really appreciate it. You drive your own vehicle and work in teams of two per car, go to each house on your list and distribute the lunches. 

The Franciscan Center serves clients through our Food Pantry and Medicine Chest. We are seeking volunteers who can enter client data on the computer as they arrive. This involves typing in their name and identification information. Very basic. We need help Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday's from 9 am - 11 am. Can you support this important ministry once a week or twice a month?

Hospice patients with dementia symptoms benefit greatly from having a fidget blanket. A fidget blanket is a lap-size quilt (24x24) which provides sensory and tactile stimulation for the restless hands of someone with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia.

If you are interested, we could use several fidget blankets! Blankets can be picked up from you at a designated time. Your creation and time will provide such a blessing to a hospice patient!

We are seeking a Bilingual Translator to interpret legal documents, housing applications, marketing materials, and other documents as requested, making sure to maintain their original meaning, format, and tone. To be successful in this volunteer role, you should have a keen eye for detail and be fluent in at least two languages (including English). The volunteer will provide ready-to-use translated content that meets our internal and external needs and helps us reach a broader audience.

Read given material and convert text from one language to one or more

Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone

Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling, and punctuation accuracy

Healthier Moms and Babies provides services, support, and education to our most vulnerable neighbors so they can have successful pregnancies and create healthier futures. You can help the families in our community by helping distribute diapers at our Hopper Events (Mobile Diaper Distribution). 

Hopper Event locations vary, we visit anywhere from 6-9 locations per month. Hopper events happen rain or shine, please dress accordingly and wear close toed shoes. You will he helping distribute diapers to community members. Diaper boxes can require you to lift up to 30 lbs.

The Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter works with volunteer advocates across the state of Indiana to advance public policy supporting those impacted by Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Advocates engage year-round with their federal elected officials in the Advocacy Program and their state elected officials during our legislative session each spring. Our non-partisan efforts engage elected officials on both sides of the aisle to advance our mission of a World Without Alzheimer's and All Other Dementia. Through various advocacy activities - like phone calls, meetings, letters to the editor, emails and social media posts - advocates encourage their elected officials to prioritize this disease on the federal and state level. 

We're looking for volunteer advocates in the area where YOU live! You can help us achieve policy victories and make a real difference for the millions of families affected by Alzheimer's or another dementia in less than 1 hour per month.

Whitley County Council on Aging/ Woodlands Senior Activity Center's mission is to enable the senior citizens of Whitley County to live confident, independent and productive lives by providing educational programs and services.

Volunteers are needed to plant vegetables, water plants, pick garden vegetables, trim bushes, pull weeds and maintain neat grounds. Does not include mowing the lawn or edging.

Instructors are the key to having successful educational and recreational programs. Instructors are motivated people who have an interest or a hobby and who are willing to donate a few hours of their time to share their knowledge and skills with others by teaching a class or seminar.   Subjects could include art, culinary, language, computers, crafts, etc.

Love being around kids, but feel it is a bit daunting to set and mentor with school children?  This is a change to ease into those opportunities. This role consists of arriving prior to the schedueld start time for Bridge of Grace Afterschool Programs to prepar snacks.  The role will also consist of planning the snack weekly schedule, taking inventory of items and preparing a list of items to be purchased.  After snack has been distributed, clean up so that kitchen and items are ready for the next day. 

This role does not require having to stay for the duration of programing each day.  

Programing runs Monday - Thursday (Snack Volunteers can work all four days or a combination of the programing days.)

Love being around kids? Are you available from 3:30-5:30pm? Group leaders stay with an assigned group of kids and keep them on schedule, moving from place to place to where they need to be and provide help to keep them focused and on task during the enrichment, devotional or mentoring / reading time. 

After School Programs occur Monday - Thursday (Volunteer days can be all four days or combination of the days.)

Meals are provided each week for those attending Circles meetings. Help is needed with any or all of the following depending on the schedule - meal preparation, serving, and cleanup. There are people in charge of the meal, therefore your role would be that of helper.

The program meets weekly on Mondays. Meals are served from 5-6. You may sign up for every week, or on a rotational basis (ie, first Monday of the month, etc).

An Ally is a person who volunteers to assist a Circle Leader in achieving his or her goals to leave poverty behind. Allies and Circle Leaders have an intentional friendship within the matched Circle. 

Allies receive training, attend weekly Circles meetings, and learn about poverty. Allies help Circle Leaders use their unique gifts and skills to reach their personal and financial goals.

The program meets weekly on Mondays from 5-7. We provide delicious meals and childcare.

Circles of Allen County is a way to journey alongside people who want to get out of poverty. Meetings are for the entire family and childcare is provided. Meals are eaten together and then the children and youth go to their designated programs while the parents go to theirs. You are invited to join the families for the meal.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who loves children.

The program meets weekly on Mondays from 5:00 to 7:00. You may sign up for every week, or on a rotational basis (ie, first Monday of the month, etc). If you do not want to join in the meal, please arrive at 5:45.

We are a day program for adults from 18-82 with developmental and physical disabilities. This position will assist an instructor in the classroom. 

Our current subjects are Math, Language Arts, Rec, Tech, Projects, Social Skills and Health.

We have small groups and you may work with an individual who requires hand over hand assistance or assist instructor by helping to organize class rooms, help students transfer from class to class and other assistance as needed.

Volunteers needed in thrift store to help sort donations, ready donations for store front, assist customers in store, light cleaning, and other duties as needed. Wednesdays 10am-4pm, Thursday 10am- pm, Friday 10am- 5pm, and Saturday 10am-4pm. 

Versiti Blood Center of Indiana and the Amish community outside of Fort Wayne partner to host large blood drives.  Because many in the Amish community do not have vehicles or transportation that provide easy access to blood drives, they have used local drivers in the past to transport donors to/from the drives.  Because of the increase in blood drive locations and frequency, we are seeking volunteer shuttle drivers to help keep this endeavor going.  This vital volunteer role would be responsible for transporting the majority of donors to participate in the community blood drives.

We host blood drives every 2 weeks, on a rotating basis.  They are divided into 4 areas: Southwest, Northeast, Harlan and Grabill.  You would be driving your own personal vehicle TO the site, then utilize a Versiti vehicle to transport donors.  

In order to volunteer for this position, you must complete an online application through Versiti which includes a motor vehicle check, background check and drug screen. 

1 shift from 3:00-9:00 pm. or 2 shifts, 3:00-6:00 pm or 6:00-9:00 pm

You can make a difference in the lives of seniors! Volunteers are needed to help with small group activities such as trivia and word games, puzzles, crafts, calling bingo, baking, and painting fingernails. We host occasional special events that we could also use your help with. You can offer your own special talent to brighten a day and bring a smile to a resident.

Camp Red Cedar holds Showdeo! our fall fundraiser and community event. We have carnival games, yard games, pony and wagon rides and lots of fun for all. 

We would like to add some new games to our inventory. You will find an example of a few ideas we would like to have built.

We are looking for early childhood educators working with the age group of 3-6 while bringing your own experience and background to our program. We are seeking volunteers to assist us in reach our curriculum goals. Some examples include, but are not limited to:

Roots creates safe space for open conversation, peer support, and allows healthy peer relationships to form. It also teaches mentees they are not alone, they are not the only one with complicated lives, there is support for each of them.  Our mentees are teens and young adults ages 14 -26 years old. 

We would like you to: Attend a programming session on the first Thursday each month.  This session runs from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Davey's Bagels.  The business is closed and we are using the space for dinner and programming. You park in the parking lot of St John Lutheran Church, 729 W Washington.

A program mentor joins us for dinner and participates in the evenings programming.  We will be working through a book, Soundtracks by Jon Acuff.

Our program runs year around as many of our mentees need support even through the summer as their personal lives don't change much.

Lead students and groups on educational hikes, represent LC Nature Park at community events, and deliver nature-related programs. This will require the guide to be familiar with all aspects of the park, our goals and mission and be able to successfully relay that information to guests of all ages. Training is provided. 

Help preserve the park with activities like invasive species removal (honeysuckle, garlic mustard, etc.) and native seed collection. Scheduled periodically throughout the year. Great opportunity for groups of all ages. Guardian supervision if under 18.

Welcome guests as they enter the Mills Education Visitors Center and assist them with information about the park. You will be collecting money for memberships, donations, and merchandise. This also includes administrative work like stuffing envelopes, taking inventory, and organizing files.

Prepare homes between residents.  Light cleaning to freshen up homes for our families graduating out of the shelter.

Work around our educational ambassadors (variety of raptors) who need daily care.  We feed them daily, give them fresh water and clean their enclosures.  

Volunteers will help fill sack lunches to be distributed every Sat. Volunteer hours are Tuesday and Thursday mornings. 

Looking for someone to assist with cleaning our office space- bathrooms, floors, etc. Ideally, 1-2 times a week, flexible to come during business hours of 9-5 Mon-Fri

Great opportunity for people who want to volunteer but work through the week! We need volunteers to help:

Saturdays 11:30 am - 2:45 pm; Sundays 3:30 pm - 6:45 pm

Most weekends between now and June 11.

Help needed during regular Museum hours and during Special Events. Duties would include greeting guests to the Museum and answering questions about the Memorial Grounds and Museum Displays.

Ever wanted to see what that stage looks like behind the scenes? You can!

Dressers - Assist actors with costumes before, during, and after shows. Assist with quick changes during the show when costumes must be changed quickly, under the direction of the Costume Designer, sewing skills are appreciated but not required!

Props Crew - Responsible for location and organization of props, under the direction of the Props Master

Floor Crew - Work backstage to prep the stage for each scene change, under the direction of the Production Managers

Fly Crew - Brings any flying elements for the show in and out as cued by the Stage Manager

Spotlight Op - Operates spotlights during shows, as cued by the stage manager

Evening and weekend hours during performances, 3-4 week commitment

All of these positions are filled with community members that are dependable and want to be a part of this wonderful community we are building!

We have 2 Full time staff members that will work with you to assist in constructing and painting the sets and scenery for each play/Musical. No experience necessary, we love educating others about how our Scene Shop works!

Babe of Whitley County provides a free mom's group to our moms that participate in our program.  The 3rd Friday of every month from 10-11am, we are looking for volunteers to watch children in our playroom while the moms are in group.  Volunteers should arrive at 9:30am and plan to stay until 11:30am (2 hours).

Nets is our basketball program.  This program meets every 3rd Sunday at St John Lutheran Church as we utilize the gym.  This session includes dinner, a short lesson on personal growth and then an hour or so on the court.  This program is open to guys and gals of any skill level ages 14 - 26.  The main message is that healthy physical activity can reduce stress, anxiety and anger.  It also is great for those that deal with depression and other medical issues.  We want our mentees to learn that this healthy physical activity can be good for them mind, body and soul.

We need individuals willing to be present for programming night and to be engaged with dinner, conversation and being on the court.

Roots creates safe space for open conversation, peer support, and allows healthy peer relationships to form. It also teaches mentees they are not alone, they are not the only one with complicated lives, there is support for each of them.  Our mentees are teens and young adults ages 14 -26 years old. 

We would like you to: Attend a programming session on the third Thursday each month.  This session runs from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Davey's Bagels.  The business is closed and we are using the space for dinner and programming. You park in the parking lot of St John Lutheran Church, 729 W Washington.

A program mentor joins us for dinner and participates in the evenings programming.  Each month we have a different presentation from a business professional or another community organization.  The purpose is to broaden our mentees exposure.

Our program runs year around as many of our mentees need support even through the summer as their personal lives don't change much.

Seeds is a safe space to learn the basics of cooking and nutrition.  We prepare the food, cook the food and eat the food.  While we are eating we learn about the nutrition of the food and what healthy substitutions could be made if you didn't like an ingredient.

A program mentor participates in the evenings programming which includes prep and cooking of dinner.  Each month we cook something different and continue to learn about the nutrition our bodies need. The purpose is to broaden our mentees exposure.

Our program runs January through October.  November and December have holidays in the fourth week.

Whitley County Council on Aging/ Woodlands Senior Activity Center's mission is to enable the senior citizens of Whitley County to live confident, independent and productive lives by providing educational programs and services.

Volunteers deliver freshly-cooked meals to participants in Whitley County. Write date on lunch punch card for each meal. Deliver lunch punch cards and/or collect money for meals/lunch punch cards. Check on participants for signs of distress and notify front desk of any irregularities in delivery or appearance. WCCOA reimburses mileage at 32 cents per mile.

Hospital gift shop volunteers are responsible for greeting customers, helping customers when asked, and using a register to process the sale of items. 

Volunteers will be required to undergo a background check and training through Adams Health Network. 

Inasmuch Ministry has been at the corner of Washington and Broadway for over 30 years.  We are a food pantry and clothing closet, but so much more! 

We provide bus passes. 

We help individuals obtain their birth certificates. 

We assist with financial assistance for housing and utilities. 

We are seeing an increase in individuals in the community with needs and need volunteers to meet with the individuals who come in for assistance. 

We also ask the individuals if we can pray with them.

You will be matched with a member based on scheduling. Position Description

The NHEG Radio Show Assistant and Networker will help provide support for radio hosts and the New Heights Show on Education. This includes working with a team to promote shows and internet spots on social media, gathering statistical data from over 25 networks and making sure our show is functioning as it should on all networks, uploading shows to multiple sites that promote internet broadcasting. This person will act as a liaison on multiple situations and opportunities, consider ratings and viewership, work to cultivate a consistent audience, and pursue their own vision of the station's values

Requirements

Ability to search resources and monitor sites we appear on to promote shows on a weekly basis.

Draft and implement social media and marketing and networking plans to grow show audience.

Soarin Hawk mission is rescue / rehabilitation / release of birds-of-prey and education.  We are a volunteer run organization. On the rehabilitation team, we have an on-call Veterinarian and a Veterinary-Technician, as well as a crew of volunteers. We are looking to add an additional Veterinary-Technician to the team.  Soarin Hawk operates from a new well-equipped facility in Huntertown.  The vet-techs are responsible for the following activities:

This position involves the care of our rehab raptors.  Rescued, injured raptors are brought into our ICU for triage and treatment.  Our ICU positions include:

Lead - administers medications and documents treatments

Assistant - holds birds while treatments/medications are given

Helper - cleans cages, helps prepare diets

No experience is needed.  Start out as a helper and if interested you can learn to become a lead.

We have ICU teams coming in twice a day, 7 days a week.  One shift per week is asked.
