Hand washing and sanitizing synthetic wigs to help keep our wig salon stocked with different styles for our clients to choose from. Once wigs have been washed, they will be hung to dry for 24 hours. Once the wigs have dried, volunteer will comb out. Volunteers can wash, sanitize and hang wigs to dry only, or come in to comb out dry wigs to be placed in the wig salon. No experience necessary. Come and help us distribute fresh produce and other food to families! This is an OUTDOOR activity at Saint Peter's Catholic Church at 518 E Dewald St, and includes loading food into cars. This is a great event, and CHFB's second busiest farm wagon. It is a fast paced activity that requires attention to detail and safety. Because of this, we ask that you are at least 14 years old. Exceptions can be made by Volunteer Manager or CHFB Leadership. This is one of the highest poverty zip codes in Indiana at nearly 50% (46803), your efforts will go far here!

Our annual Coats for Kids runs November/December. All year round our volunteers knit/crochet hats and scarves to accompany the over 10,000 coats we hand out to children in need. We have donated yarn at our office that can be picked up for use with this project. Keep those hands busy while watching tv and keeping your social distance! We also accept baby blankets and lap blankets.

We're looking for a nurturing Foster Grandparent to bring warmth and gentle care into the lives of our littlest ones! Your role volunteering with babies would include: reading picture books, singing soft lullabies to soothe and comfort, gently rocking babies, making music and sharing joyful sounds, using simple words to build early vocabulary to support infant development, and bonding with infants who need extra love. This is a special opportunity to be a meaningful part of a child’s earliest memories!

You'll drive our box truck (no CDL required) to pick up donated furniture and deliver essentials to families leaving crisis situations—domestic violence, homelessness, eviction. A bed frame. A kitchen table. A couch where kids can do homework. You're not just moving furniture; you're helping people rebuild the foundation of home. The items you pick up also stock our Thrift Store, where 100% of profits fund rent and utility assistance across northeast Indiana.

You'll load and unload furniture safely (50+ lbs with assistance), provide respectful service to donors and clients, follow planned routes, and maintain the truck. Must be 25+ with a valid license and clean driving record. This is active, hands-on work—and you'll meet people from every corner of the community.

You'll sort and inspect donations, create attractive displays, help customers, keep the store organized, and possibly run the register (with training). When someone walks into one of our 12 food pantry locations across Fort Wayne, they're often facing one of the hardest weeks of their life. Your job is simple but powerful: greet them with dignity, help them select nutritious food, and make sure they leave with what they need. You'll stock shelves, pack food boxes, check expiration dates, and keep the pantry organized and welcoming.

The work is physical—lifting up to 25 lbs, standing for extended periods—but it's also deeply relational. This is where food insecurity meets human kindness, and you're the bridge.

The Carpenter's Sons Ministry builds ramps, repairs porches, and makes critical home modifications so elderly and disabled neighbors can safely stay in their homes. Every Tuesday morning, we gather for coffee and fellowship, then head out to worksites across the community. You'll use your carpentry skills—or learn them from experienced volunteers—to solve real problems: a wheelchair ramp that restores independence, a repaired step that prevents a fall, a grab bar that makes bathing safe again.

We welcome everyone from seasoned tradespeople to enthusiastic beginners. If you can measure, cut, lift materials, and follow safety protocols, we'll teach you the rest. Many volunteers come as duos or small teams—it's easier to learn and more fun to build together.

We provide the state-of-the-art accessible van, the route, and the training. You provide a clean driving record (age 25+), reliability, and the ability to assist passengers in and out of the vehicle. Most drivers serve one week every 8–10 weeks, so it's flexible but committed.

Every week, our woodshop volunteers gather to build handmade furniture—beds, dressers, nightstands, and wooden toys—that go directly to families rebuilding their lives after crisis. Using quality tools and materials, you'll work alongside skilled volunteers (both experienced woodworkers and those learning the craft) to create pieces that transform a house into a home. Whether you're sanding a dresser that will hold a child's clothes for the first time in months, or building a bed frame for someone leaving homelessness, your hands create dignity.

We meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. No experience required—just a willingness to learn, follow safety protocols, and show up consistently. Bring a friend; many of our volunteers work in teams.

Adult life comes with many joys and challenges, as you may have experienced personally. CASS
is looking to provide mentors to help CASS Housing residents navigate life. CASS staff will pair
the mentor with a CASS resident based on interests, personality, and schedules. Mentors will
provide a listening ear, advice, and accountability for reaching goals. Mentorship sessions will be
individualized to the CASS resident, and training will be provided on CASS specific policies and
best practices in communicating and interacting with individuals with disabilities. The goal is for
mentorship sessions to occur on a regular schedule such as biweekly or monthly for a
minimum of one hour per session.

We need your muscle! Looking for volunteers who can help load and unload our trucks of donations. Schedule is flexible. We are open every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 am - 4 pm and will welcome your help even for a few hours. 

Join our volunteer team and make a difference in the lives of young learners in grades K-3! Help students reach grade-level reading through Project Reads, a one-hour after-school program. 

We have 16 school locations across Allen County. Tutors are paired with one elementary student at a designated school for the entire school year. We provide:

We are in need of food pantry help! Especially Thursdays!

Each Monday (12:00-3:00), Tuesday (9:00-12:00) and Thursday (12:00-3:00), we operate a food pantry. We have seen a major increase in families coming through our doors. We are in need of people to help us distribute to families. You can volunteer for as many or as little hours as you'd like. You can bring your group or even volunteer alone. This process consists of walking customers through our pantry with a shopping cart and helping them make choices.  We'd love to know ahead of time however, if you're in the area, stop in and we'll put you to work :)

Volunteers of the United With Love Food Pantry assist neighbors with the selection of food products for their households. By providing a range of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, canned goods, and dairy products, our food pantry aims to alleviate the pressures of accessing healthy food for neighbors in Huntington County. Volunteers assist with the day-to-day activities of the pantry, ensuring a welcoming, well stocked, and hygienic shopping experience. Some Food Pantry volunteers also assist with the collection of food from local donation organizations. 

This particular opening is available on Fridays from 9 am-1 pm for a volunteer to serve weekly in this capacity.

The United with Love mobile unit travels to Roanoke on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 5-6 pm for food appointments. Volunteer help is needed to load the truck with food in our food pantry, take the truck with food to our neighbors in Roanoke in the parking lot of Seminary United Methodist Church, 285 Seminary Street, and then bring any remaining items back to the food pantry in the truck.

We’re looking for a Foster Grandparent to join our toddler team — someone who believes in the magic of pretend and has a big heart and playful spirit! Your role would include: Playing pretend and bringing imagination to life, encouraging basic social skills like sharing and taking turns, using rich and descriptive language to grow little vocabularies, and snuggling up to read books together. If you believe that every toddler needs a little extra love, attention, and encouragement, then this is the volunteer opportunity for you!

Volunteer at a Fort Wayne Community or East Allen County school near you! This is your opportunity to mentor and tutor children ages kindergarten through third grade. Choose to focus on strengthening students' literacy skills 1:1, or helping children in a classroom environment. After passing your required background checks, we will invite you to a 5-day orientation to prepare you for your mentoring experience.

Power House is a Christian youth center in New Haven that offers after school programming for 7th-12th grade students.  We offer a healthy snack, homework help, life skills classes, free time for the youth, and then provide dinner for the students every night.  Volunteers would engage with students, having conversations with them, and engage in the activities that are taking place.  We are searching for volunteers that would be able to commit to 1 afternoon a week, or every other week.

The volunteer process is fairly simple.  There is a short application, and 2 hour training for new volunteers.  Since we work directly with youth, there is a background check that will be completed as well.

Do you enjoy working outdoors? Our nonprofit learning center (located in northwest Fort Wayne) is in need of a regular (weekly or biweekly) visit from a plant-loving volunteer.  We’re looking for someone from April through October who has experience with pruning, light weeding, and giving advice on keeping our outdoor environment looking its best.  Garden tools & supplies provided onsite. Trail Buddies invites people who have a disability or who are unable to pedal a bike independently to go for a ride in the fresh air using our specialized bikes, known as the Duet Bike. This free, inclusive program allows children and adults to be pedaled by caring, trained volunteers with our specialized bikes. Trail Buddies is available to those of all ages. Volunteers needed to pedal the Duet Bike and to ride alongside for safety. 

Volunteers of Covered With Love Resale Store help keep the store merchandise organized and restocked, sort clothing, run the register, and perform other work as needed.  

Our resale store volunteers will commit to serving weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly for 2-4 hours. Days and hours are flexible depending on the nature of the position and your availability.

Mustard Seed Furniture Bank is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable volunteer to help maintain and organize our tool and handyman work area. This volunteer role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating order, working with tools, and supporting a mission-driven environment.

We are a small, collaborative team dedicated to ensuring that every client we serve experiences dignity and care. Volunteers are an essential part of our work—and this role directly contributes to our ability to repair and prepare furniture for families in need.

Primary Responsibilities:
*Sort and organize the tool/workbench area to maintain a clean and efficient workspace
*Ensure tools are labeled and stored properly
*Dispose of broken or unusable items appropriately
*Maintain basic inventory of supplies (glue, screws, drill bits, etc.)

Volunteer with Heartland Hospice. You can volunteer in a variety of ways. We will find you patients to visit, near where you live!

We have patients in a 50 mile radius of Fort Wayne- they would love for you to visit!

Friendly Visits: Visit with a patient typically for about an hour. Play games, play cards, listen to music, watch tv or movies, talk and more. Share your talents and time with someone who would truly appreciate it.

Caregiver Relief: Help families that are taking care of someone they love. Give them a much needed break and spend time with their loved one. Typically about 2-4 hours.

Vigil Relief: Help us fulfill our philosophy that a patient should never die alone or feel alone when they die. Sit with a patient so they are not alone. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to learn more about connecting with our amazing patients.

The Lighthouse Community Center (3000 E. State Blvd) is always looking for energetic individuals to assist with lawn cleanup.  This position is flexible, and ongoing. We have multiple properties and areas that need assistance.  

We are a faith based residential program for men with life altering addictions, in crisis or aging out of the foster care program.

Helping Hands is CHFB's primary food distribution volunteer event! Join us each Saturday morning as we distribute thousands of pounds of food to hundreds of families. A surefire way to feed your soul, and make a massive impact in the fight against food insecurity on our nine county service area!

Please arrive at 999 E. Tillman between 6:45 & 7:00 AM, you will need to park in the Fire Police, City County Credit Union, Midwest America Credit Union, or Domino's Pizza parking lots. All of these are directly next to CHFB. 

Enter in through the “Volunteer Entrance” door. Please check in with me, Mis Embury, at the Volunteer Manager Desk / check-in table set up where you can register your attendance on an iPad (if you registered online) or by using the paper sign-in sheet. We will assign positions when you arrive and will begin the Drive Through as soon as we have enough help. Helping Hands is scheduled until 11AM, but on average, finishes early.

It takes a lot to keep Science Central running. We have a history of reaching out to groups in our community for aid. We have many projects, both inside and outside of the building, that large groups can help with. These could be painting, cleaning, building projects, stuffing envelops, or conducting tabletop activities with the visitors. If your group is looking for a fun bonding activity, consider helping out at Science Central. Some supplies (shovels, gloves, scrub brushes, etc.) will need to be provided by your group. Other than exceeding gratefulness, no compensation is made for the use of personal gas, supplies, etc. If your group is looking for a fun bonding activity, consider helping out at Science Central.

At Science Central we have a hands on approach to teaching science. We also have a hands on approach to our exhibits. We have built many of the exhibits on our floor. We also service them ourselves. As a volunteer you can assist the Science Central facilities department in all aspects of daily operation. Projects will vary depending on the area of greatest need. We need volunteer who know the ins and outs of cabinetry, electricity, engineering, gardening and more. If you have a skill to lend, we could use your help.

Education is the largest department at Science Central and is at the heart of everything we do. As an educational volunteer you have a few paths that you can take as you gain experience and have fun. You can learn to care for our various animals, teach visitors about fossils, participate in demos, and so much more. Have fun, teach others, and learn at the same time.

Play an important role in helping to make fighting cancer a top priority with federal, state, and local elected officials. Help increase funding for cancer research, prevention, and screening programs, pass laws to reduce the burden of tobacco, or build programs to address health disparities and improve the quality of life for those affected by cancer. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to run a museum? Science Central has a constant need for administrative help.  While most of the public is aware of our museum and its exhibits, that is only one way in which we further the science education of the public. 

We have outreach programs that go out to local schools. We have summer camps that teach various scientific principles and skills. And we have virtual learning that is done world wide. We would never be able to accomplish these goals with the Administrative office.

Our volunteers assist Science Central’s administrative office in all aspects of daily operation. Projects will vary by department. Tasks could include data entry, marketing, envelope stuffing, filing, placing phone calls and answering emails.

Bookkeeper job duties include working closely with Ranch leadership to keep track of transactions and help ensure legal nonprofit compliance, process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices and payments. Our ideal candidate will have prior experience in bookkeeping and is familiar with QuickBooks. Ultimately, the Bookkeeper’s responsibilities are to accurately record the financial transactions of our nonprofit organization (approximately 30-50 transactions per month).

The duties of our donut and snack volunteer is to set-up the snack area, including tables, Soldier’s Angels banner and backdrop, and Soldier’s Angels literature. Other items are occasionally available to hand out to our veterans such as Girl Scout Cookies, bags of Coffee etc. 

Hello! We are hoping to add another volunteer musician or vocalist to our monthly rotation of entertainment for residents in our memory care assisted living facility. This could be just once a month, every other week or weekly for 45 mins-1 hour.

A Baby's Closet needs volunteer interpreters who are fluent in Spanish, Burmese, Pashto, or Haitian Creole. Catholic Charities in Fort Wayne is looking for volunteer drivers to help provide transportation to our refugee clients.  Many of our refugee clients do not have access to transportation, making it difficult to run errands such as going to the grocery store or the bank, going to job interviews, or even going to the gym. As a volunteer driver, you can have a positive impact on our refugee clients as they settle into the Fort Wayne community.  The schedule is based on when volunteers are available to provide round trip transportation. The volunteer would use their own personal vehicle and gas.

Hopper Event locations vary, we visit anywhere from 6-9 locations per month. Hopper events happen rain or shine, please dress accordingly and wear close toed shoes. You will he helping distribute diapers to community members. Diaper boxes can require you to lift up to 30 lbs.

The Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter works with volunteer advocates across the state of Indiana to advance public policy supporting those impacted by Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Advocates engage year-round with their federal elected officials in the Advocacy Program and their state elected officials during our legislative session each spring. Our non-partisan efforts engage elected officials on both sides of the aisle to advance our mission of a World Without Alzheimer's and All Other Dementia. Through various advocacy activities - like phone calls, meetings, letters to the editor, emails and social media posts - advocates encourage their elected officials to prioritize this disease on the federal and state level.

Instructors are motivated people who have an interest or a hobby and who are willing to donate a few hours of their time to share their knowledge and skills with others by teaching a class or seminar.   Subjects could include art, culinary, language, computers, crafts, etc.

Love being around kids, but feel it is a bit daunting to set and mentor with school children?  This is a change to ease into those opportunities. This role consists of arriving prior to the schedueld start time for Bridge of Grace Afterschool Programs to prepar snacks.  The role will also consist of planning the snack weekly schedule, taking inventory of items and preparing a list of items to be purchased.  After snack has been distributed, clean up so that kitchen and items are ready for the next day. 

This role does not require having to stay for the duration of programing each day.  

Programing runs Monday - Thursday (Snack Volunteers can work all four days or a combination of the programing days.)

Group leaders stay with an assigned group of kids and keep them on schedule, moving from place to place to where they need to be and provide help to keep them focused and on task during the enrichment, devotional or mentoring / reading time.

An Ally is a person who volunteers to assist a Circle Leader in achieving his or her goals to leave poverty behind. Allies and Circle Leaders have an intentional friendship within the matched Circle. 

Allies receive training, attend weekly Circles meetings, and learn about poverty. Allies help Circle Leaders use their unique gifts and skills to reach their personal and financial goals.

The program meets weekly on Mondays from 5-7. We provide delicious meals and childcare.

Circles of Allen County is a way to journey alongside people who want to get out of poverty. Meetings are for the entire family and childcare is provided. Meals are eaten together and then the children and youth go to their designated programs while the parents go to theirs. You are invited to join the families for the meal.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who loves children.

The program meets weekly on Mondays from 5:00 to 7:00. You may sign up for every week, or on a rotational basis (ie, first Monday of the month, etc). If you do not want to join in the meal, please arrive at 5:45.

We are a day program for adults from 18-82 with developmental and physical disabilities. This position will assist an instructor in the classroom. 

Our current subjects are Math, Language Arts, Rec, Tech, Projects, Social Skills and Health.

We have small groups and you may work with an individual who requires hand over hand assistance or assist instructor by helping to organize class rooms, help students transfer from class to class and other assistance as needed.

Volunteers needed in thrift store to help sort donations, ready donations for store front, assist customers in store, light cleaning, and other duties as needed. Wednesdays 10am-4pm, Thursday 10am- pm, Friday 10am- 5pm, and Saturday 10am-4pm. 

Versiti Blood Center of Indiana and the Amish community outside of Fort Wayne partner to host large blood drives.  Because many in the Amish community do not have vehicles or transportation that provide easy access to blood drives, they have used local drivers in the past to transport donors to/from the drives.  Because of the increase in blood drive locations and frequency, we are seeking volunteer shuttle drivers to help keep this endeavor going.  This vital volunteer role would be responsible for transporting the majority of donors to participate in the community blood drives.

We host blood drives every 2 weeks, on a rotating basis.  They are divided into 4 areas: Southwest, Northeast, Harlan and Grabill.  You would be driving your own personal vehicle TO the site, then utilize a Versiti vehicle to transport donors.  

In order to volunteer for this position, you must complete an online application through Versiti which includes a motor vehicle check, background check and drug screen. 

1 shift from 3:00-9:00 pm. or 2 shifts, 3:00-6:00 pm or 6:00-9:00 pm

You can make a difference in the lives of seniors! Volunteers are needed to help with small group activities such as trivia and word games, puzzles, crafts, calling bingo, baking, and painting fingernails. We host occasional special events that we could also use your help with. You can offer your own special talent to brighten a day and bring a smile to a resident. 

Volunteer opportunities are typically between 9 am and 4 pm.

Position may require:

Return phone calls

Help patients with questions they have relating to appointments and requested documents

Check in patients

Help interpret in the exam rooms

No experience needed in the medical field

Flexible hours 

Clean teeth and educate patients on dental hygiene.  Flexible hours and no weekends.
