Trail Buddies invites people who have a disability or who are unable to pedal a bike independently to go for a ride in the fresh air using our specialized bikes, known as the Duet Bike. This free, inclusive program allows children and adults to be pedaled by caring, trained volunteers with our specialized bikes. Trail Buddies is available to those of all ages. Volunteers needed to pedal the Duet Bike and to ride alongside for safety. 

Volunteers of Covered With Love Resale Store help keep the store merchandise organized and restocked, sort clothing, run the register, and perform other work as needed.  

Our resale store volunteers will commit to serving weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly for 2-4 hours. Days and hours are flexible depending on the nature of the position and your availability.

Volunteer opportunities are available Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:30 am - 5 pm and Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 am - 1 pm.

Overview:
Mustard Seed Furniture Bank is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable volunteer to help maintain and organize our tool and handyman work area. This volunteer role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating order, working with tools, and supporting a mission-driven environment.

We are a small, collaborative team dedicated to ensuring that every client we serve experiences dignity and care. Volunteers are an essential part of our work—and this role directly contributes to our ability to repair and prepare furniture for families in need.

Primary Responsibilities:
*Sort and organize the tool/workbench area to maintain a clean and efficient workspace
*Ensure tools are labeled and stored properly
*Dispose of broken or unusable items appropriately
*Maintain basic inventory of supplies (glue, screws, drill bits, etc.)
*Keep the handyman area swept, clean, and functional
*Optional Additional Responsibilities (If Desired)

Assist with minor furniture repairs such as:
*Tightening loose legs on chairs and tables

Volunteer with Heartland Hospice. You can volunteer in a variety of ways. We will find you patients to visit, near where you live!

We have patients in a 50 mile radius of Fort Wayne- they would love for you to visit!

Friendly Visits: Visit with a patient typically for about an hour. Play games, play cards, listen to music, watch tv or movies, talk and more. Share your talents and time with someone who would truly appreciate it.

Caregiver Relief: Help families that are taking care of someone they love. Give them a much needed break and spend time with their loved one. Typically about 2-4 hours.

Vigil Relief: Help us fulfill our philosophy that a patient should never die alone or feel alone when they die. Sit with a patient so they are not alone. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to learn more about connecting with our amazing patients.

Volunteer drivers will help get clients to and from their chemo and radiation appointments.  You do not have to stay with the client. Volunteers will use their own vehicle to transport. DRIVERS ARE NEEDED IN ALL ZIP CODES BUT WE HAVE A GREATER NEED AT THIS MOMENT IN 46806, 46807, 46809, 46819, 46761, 46755, 46706. We also have a need for drivers in all 11 Northeast Indiana counties; Allen, Adams, DeKalb, Noble, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties.  With every 150 miles driven, you will be reimbursed with at $15 gas card. The Lighthouse Community Center (3000 E. State Blvd) is always looking for energetic individuals to assist with lawn cleanup.  This position is flexible, and ongoing. We have multiple properties and areas that need assistance.  

We are a faith based residential program for men with life altering addictions, in crisis or aging out of the foster care program.

Helping Hands is CHFB's primary food distribution volunteer event! Join us each Saturday morning as we distribute thousands of pounds of food to hundreds of families. A surefire way to feed your soul, and make a massive impact in the fight against food insecurity on our nine county service area!

Please arrive at 999 E. Tillman between 6:45 & 7:00 AM, you will need to park in the Fire Police, City County Credit Union, Midwest America Credit Union, or Domino's Pizza parking lots. All of these are directly next to CHFB. 

Enter in through the “Volunteer Entrance” door. Please check in with me, Mis Embury, at the Volunteer Manager Desk / check-in table set up where you can register your attendance on an iPad (if you registered online) or by using the paper sign-in sheet. We will assign positions when you arrive and will begin the Drive Through as soon as we have enough help. Helping Hands is scheduled until 11AM, but on average, finishes early.

It takes a lot to keep Science Central running. We have a history of reaching out to groups in our community for aid. We have many projects, both inside and outside of the building, that large groups can help with. These could be painting, cleaning, building projects, stuffing envelops, or conducting tabletop activities with the visitors. If your group is looking for a fun bonding activity, consider helping out at Science Central. Some supplies (shovels, gloves, scrub brushes, etc.) will need to be provided by your group. Other than exceeding gratefulness, no compensation is made for the use of personal gas, supplies, etc. If your group is looking for a fun bonding activity, consider helping out at Science Central.

At Science Central we have a hands on approach to teaching science. We also have a hands on approach to our exhibits. We have built many of the exhibits on our floor. We also service them ourselves. As a volunteer you can assist the Science Central facilities department in all aspects of daily operation. Projects will vary depending on the area of greatest need. We need volunteer who know the ins and outs of cabinetry, electricity, engineering, gardening and more. If you have a skill to lend, we could use your help.

Education is the largest department at Science Central and is at the heart of everything we do. As an educational volunteer you have a few paths that you can take as you gain experience and have fun. You can learn to care for our various animals, teach visitors about fossils, participate in demos, and so much more. Have fun, teach others, and learn at the same time.

Help increase funding for cancer research, prevention, and screening programs, pass laws to reduce the burden of tobacco, or build programs to address health disparities and improve the quality of life for those affected by cancer. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to run a museum? Science Central has a constant need for administrative help.  While most of the public is aware of our museum and its exhibits, that is only one way in which we further the science education of the public. 

We have outreach programs that go out to local schools. We have summer camps that teach various scientific principles and skills. And we have virtual learning that is done world wide. We would never be able to accomplish these goals with the Administrative office.

Our volunteers assist Science Central’s administrative office in all aspects of daily operation. Projects will vary by department. Tasks could include data entry, marketing, envelope stuffing, filing, placing phone calls and answering emails.

The duties of our donut and snack volunteer is to set-up the snack area, including tables, Soldier’s Angels banner and backdrop, and Soldier’s Angels literature. Set-up popcorn machine and make popcorn. Bag popcorn and hand out to our veterans. Clean popcorn machine and return to Volunteer Services. Other items are occasionally available to hand out to our veterans such as Girl Scout Cookies, bags of Coffee etc. 

Hello! We are hoping to add another volunteer musician or vocalist to our monthly rotation of entertainment for residents in our memory care assisted living facility. This could be just once a month, every other week or weekly for 45 mins-1 hour. 

We are looking for a volunteer pastor to come lead a short Bible study or church service once a month, or as able, at Kingston at DuPont. We are very flexible with scheduling!  

A Baby's Closet needs volunteer interpreters who are fluent in Spanish, Burmese, Pashto, or Haitian Creole. This will help us effectively communicate and bridge language gaps with our clients who also speak these languages. This opportunity will be at A Baby's Closet, 621 E. Wayne St. and is Monday and/or Wednesday afternoons from 2-5pm.  Any time that you can give would be helpful, even if not for the entire shift.

Fold plastic grocery sacks in the comfort of your easy chair in front of the TV! We are helping the USPS prepare for their annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive scheduled for the second Saturday in May. You must come by our office, 3401 Lake Avenue to pick up and return the supplies. Mon - Thur between 9 - 4 p.m.

Volunteer facilitators are the heart of Erin's House. Our facilitators lead and encourage participants through games, crafts, and activities to explore their own thoughts and feelings about death and loss. Training for this position is provided.

Basics:

Evening availability (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday)

Co-facilitate small groups of children/teens in your designated program room

Catholic Charities is looking for volunteer interpreters that are fluent in Spanish or Swahili to help us effectively communicate and bridge language gaps with our refugee clients that also speak Spanish or Swahili. This opportunity may occur at our downtown office, in the clients' homes, or at medical appointments, all within Fort Wayne. These appointments will typically occur between Monday-Friday during business hours and the volunteer's availability.

Catholic Charities in Fort Wayne is looking for volunteer drivers to help provide transportation to our refugee clients.  Many of our refugee clients do not have access to transportation, making it difficult to run errands such as going to the grocery store or the bank, going to job interviews, or even going to the gym. As a volunteer driver, you can have a positive impact on our refugee clients as they settle into the Fort Wayne community.  The schedule is based on when volunteers are available to provide round trip transportation. The volunteer would use their own personal vehicle and gas. 

Interested volunteers must meet the following requirements:

Distribute sack lunches in a designated area. This is a rewarding project as the clients really appreciate it. You drive your own vehicle and work in teams of two per car, go to each house on your list and distribute the lunches. 

The Franciscan Center serves clients through our Food Pantry and Medicine Chest. We are seeking volunteers who can enter client data on the computer as they arrive. This involves typing in their name and identification information. Very basic. We need help Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday's from 9 am - 11 am. Hospice patients with dementia symptoms benefit greatly from having a fidget blanket. A fidget blanket is a lap-size quilt (24x24) which provides sensory and tactile stimulation for the restless hands of someone with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia.

We are seeking a Bilingual Translator to interpret legal documents, housing applications, marketing materials, and other documents as requested, making sure to maintain their original meaning, format, and tone. To be successful in this volunteer role, you should have a keen eye for detail and be fluent in at least two languages (including English). The volunteer will provide ready-to-use translated content that meets our internal and external needs and helps us reach a broader audience.

Healthier Moms and Babies provides services, support, and education to our most vulnerable neighbors so they can have successful pregnancies and create healthier futures. You can help the families in our community by helping distribute diapers at our Hopper Events (Mobile Diaper Distribution). 

Hopper Event locations vary, we visit anywhere from 6-9 locations per month. Hopper events happen rain or shine, please dress accordingly and wear close toed shoes. You will he helping distribute diapers to community members. Diaper boxes can require you to lift up to 30 lbs.

The Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter works with volunteer advocates across the state of Indiana to advance public policy supporting those impacted by Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Advocates engage year-round with their federal elected officials in the Advocacy Program and their state elected officials during our legislative session each spring. Our non-partisan efforts engage elected officials on both sides of the aisle to advance our mission of a World Without Alzheimer's and All Other Dementia. Through various advocacy activities - like phone calls, meetings, letters to the editor, emails and social media posts - advocates encourage their elected officials to prioritize this disease on the federal and state level.

Whitley County Council on Aging/ Woodlands Senior Activity Center's mission is to enable the senior citizens of Whitley County to live confident, independent and productive lives by providing educational programs and services.

Volunteers are needed to plant vegetables, water plants, pick garden vegetables, trim bushes, pull weeds and maintain neat grounds. Does not include mowing the lawn or edging.

Instructors are motivated people who have an interest or a hobby and who are willing to donate a few hours of their time to share their knowledge and skills with others by teaching a class or seminar.   Subjects could include art, culinary, language, computers, crafts, etc.

Varied, creating for logging hours purposes. We are looking for volunteers for our annual Senior Games throughout the month of June 2024! 

Love being around kids, but feel it is a bit daunting to set and mentor with school children?  This is a change to ease into those opportunities. This role consists of arriving prior to the schedueld start time for Bridge of Grace Afterschool Programs to prepar snacks.  The role will also consist of planning the snack weekly schedule, taking inventory of items and preparing a list of items to be purchased.  After snack has been distributed, clean up so that kitchen and items are ready for the next day. 

This role does not require having to stay for the duration of programing each day.  

Programing runs Monday - Thursday (Snack Volunteers can work all four days or a combination of the programing days.)

Allies receive training, attend weekly Circles meetings, and learn about poverty. Allies help Circle Leaders use their unique gifts and skills to reach their personal and financial goals.

The program meets weekly on Mondays from 5-7. We provide delicious meals and childcare.

Circles of Allen County is a way to journey alongside people who want to get out of poverty. Meetings are for the entire family and childcare is provided. Meals are eaten together and then the children and youth go to their designated programs while the parents go to theirs. You are invited to join the families for the meal.

We are a day program for adults from 18-82 with developmental and physical disabilities. This position will assist an instructor in the classroom. 

Our current subjects are Math, Language Arts, Rec, Tech, Projects, Social Skills and Health.

We have small groups and you may work with an individual who requires hand over hand assistance or assist instructor by helping to organize class rooms, help students transfer from class to class and other assistance as needed.

Volunteers needed in thrift store to help sort donations, ready donations for store front, assist customers in store, light cleaning, and other duties as needed. Wednesdays 10am-4pm, Thursday 10am- pm, Friday 10am- 5pm, and Saturday 10am-4pm. 

Versiti Blood Center of Indiana and the Amish community outside of Fort Wayne partner to host large blood drives.  Because many in the Amish community do not have vehicles or transportation that provide easy access to blood drives, they have used local drivers in the past to transport donors to/from the drives.  Because of the increase in blood drive locations and frequency, we are seeking volunteer shuttle drivers to help keep this endeavor going.  This vital volunteer role would be responsible for transporting the majority of donors to participate in the community blood drives.

We host blood drives every 2 weeks, on a rotating basis.  They are divided into 4 areas: Southwest, Northeast, Harlan and Grabill.  You would be driving your own personal vehicle TO the site, then utilize a Versiti vehicle to transport donors.  

In order to volunteer for this position, you must complete an online application through Versiti which includes a motor vehicle check, background check and drug screen. 

1 shift from 3:00-9:00 pm. or 2 shifts, 3:00-6:00 pm or 6:00-9:00 pm

Camp Red Cedar holds Showdeo! our fall fundraiser and community event. We have carnival games, yard games, pony and wagon rides and lots of fun for all. 

We would like to add some new games to our inventory. You will find an example of a few ideas we would like to have built.

We are looking for early childhood educators working with the age group of 3-6 while bringing your own experience and background to our program. We are seeking volunteers to assist us in reach our curriculum goals. Some examples include, but are not limited to:

Roots creates safe space for open conversation, peer support, and allows healthy peer relationships to form. It also teaches mentees they are not alone, they are not the only one with complicated lives, there is support for each of them.  Our mentees are teens and young adults ages 14 -26 years old. 

We would like you to: Attend a programming session on the first Thursday each month.  This session runs from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Davey's Bagels.  The business is closed and we are using the space for dinner and programming. You park in the parking lot of St John Lutheran Church, 729 W Washington.

A program mentor joins us for dinner and participates in the evenings programming.  We will be working through a book, Soundtracks by Jon Acuff.

Our program runs year around as many of our mentees need support even through the summer as their personal lives don't change much.

Lead students and groups on educational hikes, represent LC Nature Park at community events, and deliver nature-related programs. This will require the guide to be familiar with all aspects of the park, our goals and mission and be able to successfully relay that information to guests of all ages. Training is provided. 

Help preserve the park with activities like invasive species removal (honeysuckle, garlic mustard, etc.) and native seed collection. Scheduled periodically throughout the year. Great opportunity for groups of all ages. Guardian supervision if under 18.

Welcome guests as they enter the Mills Education Visitors Center and assist them with information about the park. You will be collecting money for memberships, donations, and merchandise. This also includes administrative work like stuffing envelopes, taking inventory, and organizing files.

Wells County CASA Program recruits, trains and supports CASA volunteers as advocates to get to know the abused or neglected child and determine their needs and recommend what is in the child’s best interest. The CASA volunteer communicates this information about the child to the court so the child’s voice can be heard and so the child does not become “lost” in the system.

The CASA volunteer helps the child to understand what is going on in the case and provides a friendly face, support, stability, and consistency for the child during legal proceedings amidst a sea of unfamiliar people - including police, doctors, child welfare workers, and lawyers. By presenting the best interests of abused and neglected children to the court, advocates help judges to make better informed and more timely decisions about children so they can be returned home or placed in a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible.

In addition to speaking for the child in court, CASA volunteers assist children in other ways to recover from the situations that placed them in foster care - providing encouragement and support to enable them to lead healthy, productive lives.  Advocates serve as role models to children who often have no one else to turn to.  For example, many advocates assist with educational needs, encourage career interests, and develop meaningful relationships with their assigned children that have a lifelong impact on both the children and the volunteer.

Prepare homes between residents.  Light cleaning to freshen up homes for our families graduating out of the shelter. 

Interested in helping keep Huntington city parks beautiful? Consider adopting a flower bed at one of Huntington's many park locations. It is a simple way to stay active and give back to our community. Volunteers are asked to keep selected flowerbed presentable by planting flowers and pulling weeds, remove all trash from the location, check the flowerbed once or twice a week, and commit to participate June through October. The City of Huntington Parks Department will provide flowers and tools as needed.
