United With Love office volunteers assist the Office Manager in many positions. Available volunteer positions include receptionist, interviewer, and processor.  The receptionist is generally the first point of contact for our neighbors in need. The receptionist receives requests for help, the interviewer screens the requests, verifies the need, and then refers the request to a United with Love program or ministry, church ministry, or community agency. The processor then records the information gathered during the interview process and the outcomes and referrals made. After the initial assistance, a specialized United With Love interviewer follows up to ensure the need was met and offers continued support in the form of prayer, additional referrals, and potentially even one-to-one coaching.

This particular opportunity is for Wednesdays from 9 am-1 pm.

Volunteers of the United With Love Food Pantry assist neighbors with the selection of food products for their households. By providing a range of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, canned goods, and dairy products, our food pantry aims to alleviate the pressures of accessing healthy food for neighbors in Huntington County. Volunteers assist with the day-to-day activities of the pantry, ensuring a welcoming, well stocked, and hygienic shopping experience. Some Food Pantry volunteers also assist with the collection of food from local donation organizations. 

This particular opening is a need for a food pantry receptionist. The food pantry receptionist greets neighbors as they enter the food pantry for appointments, has neighbors sign needed paperwork, and processes their paperwork in print and in the computer system. This opening is available on Tuesdays from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. for a volunteer to serve weekly in this capacity.

Our after-school program is looking for friendly individuals who can assist 1st-8th grade participants with homework, reading and/or educational games during scheduled homework time, 3:30-4:30pm Monday-Thursday during the academic school year. You may volunteer one day a week, two, three or all four! Volunteers may work one-on-one with children or may work with a small group depending on attendance numbers. This is a great opportunity for former educators or individuals who enjoy working with youth.

If you like to drive, this is the opportunity for you! We're looking for volunteers willing to transport supplies and materials across the region. We need volunteer  to be on call when there is a need! Deliveries can take 15 minutes or four hours. They will vary due to upcoming needs. Some routes will be planned on a schedule but others will occur based on needs that pop up. 

A Red Cross vehicle and gas card will be available to you for this position after a Motor Vehicle Report is run and a brief, online, drivers safety training course is complete.

Habitat GFW is looking for groups of two people to volunteer once every 3 to 4 months for our Aluminum Can Recycling Program.

Responsibilities:

Can Shed Volunteers choose their schedule! You can run the route any day and time during your assigned month; it's very casual. 

This has been an excellent opportunity for our current volunteers to volunteer with their spouse, stay active in the community, and help Habitat raise funds for affordable housing in Greater Fort Wayne.

In 2025, we raised over $26,000 through recycling cans. Our goal in 2026 is to raise over $30,000 to subsidize the cost of one Habitat home for a local family.

Night to Shine is an event for people with special needs hosted by local churches around the world. It is open to anyone living with disabilities, ages 14 and older.

We are in need of a Spanish speaking volunteer to assist participant(s) in communication during programming. Our Spanish speaking population is growing, so is our need for volunteers to help these friends navigate all that GiGi's has to offer. Times will vary. There is also an interest in starting a group for these families if you would like to help get that going!

GiGi's Tutor volunteers/mentors will work 1:1 assisting children and adults with literacy and/or math. We are seeking caring, understanding and energetic people to help our participants succeed. Must be kind and enthusiastic with the desire to help 1 person learn, grow and surpass your expectations. There is training provided by GiGi's to assure volunteers are prepared and comfortable with their role. Each volunteer tutor is only needed as little as 1 hour per week. If you desire to help a child or adult learn to read, write or progress in math skills this is where it's at!

GiGi’s Plus+1 Catering is operated by GiGi University graduates specializing in smoothies, wraps, Croissants, Salads, and a variety of catering services. The vision is to eliminate barriers so that individuals with disabilities can develop their skillset and explore employment opportunities. Learning opportunities include customer service, independence, career training, community integration, building self-confidence, teamwork, promoting acceptance in the community by developing social, interpersonal and occupational skills. 

Job skills assistant will help with food prep for walk in and catering orders. Volunteer will report to the Program Manager Teya, and help the participants focus on tasks and complete tasks as assigned by manager. Volunteer may also assist with cleaning, stocking, and answering phones.

Elara Caring, one of the nation's largest providers of home-based care, is looking for compassionate volunteers willing to donate their time to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families.

Volunteers are needed to visit with patients and engage them in activities such as playing music, singing, working on a craft project, sharing a special moment or simply providing companionship through listening, talking or holding a hand. Make a Difference in a Child’s Life – Become a CASA Volunteer

The Allen County CASA Program recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the court system. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers get to know the child, gather information, and make recommendations to the court about what is in the child’s best interest.

As a CASA volunteer, you’ll be a consistent and supportive presence for a child navigating the foster care system. You’ll help the child understand what’s happening in their case and ensure their voice is heard among a sea of professionals-lawyers, caseworkers, doctors, and judges.

Your advocacy helps judges make informed decisions so children can be placed in safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. Beyond court, CASA volunteers often support educational needs, encourage goals, and serve as positive role models. This is more than volunteering, it’s a chance to change a child’s life, and your own.

Hand washing and sanitizing synthetic wigs to help keep our wig salon stocked with different styles for our clients to choose from. Once wigs have been washed, they will be hung to dry for 24 hours. Once the wigs have dried, volunteer will comb out. Volunteers can wash, sanitize and hang wigs to dry only, or come in to comb out dry wigs to be placed in the wig salon. No experience necessary. Come and help us distribute fresh produce and other food to families! This is an OUTDOOR activity at Saint Peter's Catholic Church at 518 E Dewald St, and includes loading food into cars. This is a great event, and CHFB's second busiest farm wagon. It is a fast paced activity that requires attention to detail and safety. Because of this, we ask that you are at least 14 years old. Exceptions can be made by Volunteer Manager or CHFB Leadership. This is one of the highest poverty zip codes in Indiana at nearly 50% (46803), your efforts will go far here!

Our annual Coats for Kids runs November/December. All year round our volunteers knit/crochet hats and scarves to accompany the over 10,000 coats we hand out to children in need. The work is physical—lifting up to 25 lbs, standing for extended periods—but it's also deeply relational. This is where food insecurity meets human kindness, and you're the bridge.

The Carpenter's Sons Ministry builds ramps, repairs porches, and makes critical home modifications so elderly and disabled neighbors can safely stay in their homes. Every Tuesday morning, we gather for coffee and fellowship, then head out to worksites across the community. You'll use your carpentry skills—or learn them from experienced volunteers—to solve real problems: a wheelchair ramp that restores independence, a repaired step that prevents a fall, a grab bar that makes bathing safe again.

We provide the state-of-the-art accessible van, the route, and the training. You provide a clean driving record (age 25+), reliability, and the ability to assist passengers in and out of the vehicle. Most drivers serve one week every 8–10 weeks, so it's flexible but committed.

You're not just sorting donations; you're preventing evictions.

We need volunteers Monday–Saturday anytime between 9:30 AM and 5:30 PM. The work is hands-on: receiving donations, organizing inventory, preparing items for sale, and keeping our donation area safe and welcoming. You'll lift up to 25 lbs and stay on your feet, but you'll also work alongside a team that knows this work matters. Using quality tools and materials, you'll work alongside skilled volunteers (both experienced woodworkers and those learning the craft) to create pieces that transform a house into a home. Whether you're sanding a dresser that will hold a child's clothes for the first time in months, or building a bed frame for someone leaving homelessness, your hands create dignity.

We meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. No experience required—just a willingness to learn, follow safety protocols, and show up consistently. Bring a friend; many of our volunteers work in teams.

Adult life comes with many joys and challenges, as you may have experienced personally. CASS
is looking to provide mentors to help CASS Housing residents navigate life. CASS staff will pair
the mentor with a CASS resident based on interests, personality, and schedules. Mentors will
provide a listening ear, advice, and accountability for reaching goals. Mentorship sessions will be
individualized to the CASS resident, and training will be provided on CASS specific policies and
best practices in communicating and interacting with individuals with disabilities. The goal is for
mentorship sessions to occur on a regular schedule such as biweekly or monthly for a
minimum of one hour per session.

We need your muscle! Looking for volunteers who can help load and unload our trucks of donations. Schedule is flexible. We are open every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 am - 4 pm and will welcome your help even for a few hours. 

Join our volunteer team and make a difference in the lives of young learners in grades K-3! Help students reach grade-level reading through Project Reads, a one-hour after-school program. 

We have 16 school locations across Allen County. Tutors are paired with one elementary student at a designated school for the entire school year. We provide:

Each Monday (12:00-3:00), Tuesday (9:00-12:00) and Thursday (12:00-3:00), we operate a food pantry. We have seen a major increase in families coming through our doors. We are in need of people to help us distribute to families. You can volunteer for as many or as little hours as you'd like. You can bring your group or even volunteer alone. This process consists of walking customers through our pantry with a shopping cart and helping them make choices.  We'd love to know ahead of time however, if you're in the area, stop in and we'll put you to work :)

Volunteer help is needed to load the truck with food in our food pantry, take the truck with food to our neighbors in Roanoke in the parking lot of Seminary United Methodist Church, 285 Seminary Street, and then bring any remaining items back to the food pantry in the truck.

Power House is a Christian youth center in New Haven that offers after school programming for 7th-12th grade students.  We offer a healthy snack, homework help, life skills classes, free time for the youth, and then provide dinner for the students every night.  Volunteers would engage with students, having conversations with them, and engage in the activities that are taking place.  We are searching for volunteers that would be able to commit to 1 afternoon a week, or every other week.

The volunteer process is fairly simple.  There is a short application, and 2 hour training for new volunteers.  Since we work directly with youth, there is a background check that will be completed as well.

Friendly Visits: Visit with a patient typically for about an hour. Play games, play cards, listen to music, watch tv or movies, talk and more. Share your talents and time with someone who would truly appreciate it.

Caregiver Relief: Help families that are taking care of someone they love. Give them a much needed break and spend time with their loved one. Typically about 2-4 hours.

Helping Hands is CHFB's primary food distribution volunteer event! Join us each Saturday morning as we distribute thousands of pounds of food to hundreds of families. A surefire way to feed your soul, and make a massive impact in the fight against food insecurity on our nine county service area!

Please arrive at 999 E. Tillman between 6:45 & 7:00 AM, you will need to park in the Fire Police, City County Credit Union, Midwest America Credit Union, or Domino's Pizza parking lots. All of these are directly next to CHFB. 

Enter in through the “Volunteer Entrance” door. Please check in with me, Mis Embury, at the Volunteer Manager Desk / check-in table set up where you can register your attendance on an iPad (if you registered online) or by using the paper sign-in sheet. We will assign positions when you arrive and will begin the Drive Through as soon as we have enough help. Helping Hands is scheduled until 11AM, but on average, finishes early.

It takes a lot to keep Science Central running. We have a history of reaching out to groups in our community for aid. We have many projects, both inside and outside of the building, that large groups can help with. These could be painting, cleaning, building projects, stuffing envelops, or conducting tabletop activities with the visitors. If your group is looking for a fun bonding activity, consider helping out at Science Central. Some supplies (shovels, gloves, scrub brushes, etc.) will need to be provided by your group. At Science Central we have a hands on approach to teaching science. We also have a hands on approach to our exhibits. We have built many of the exhibits on our floor. We also service them ourselves. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to run a museum? Science Central has a constant need for administrative help.  While most of the public is aware of our museum and its exhibits, that is only one way in which we further the science education of the public. 

We have outreach programs that go out to local schools. We have summer camps that teach various scientific principles and skills. And we have virtual learning that is done world wide. We would never be able to accomplish these goals with the Administrative office.

The duties of our donut and snack volunteer is to set-up the snack area, including tables, Soldier’s Angels banner and backdrop, and Soldier’s Angels literature. Set-up popcorn machine and make popcorn. Bag popcorn and hand out to our veterans. Clean popcorn machine and return to Volunteer Services. Other items are occasionally available to hand out to our veterans such as Girl Scout Cookies, bags of Coffee etc. 

Hello! We are hoping to add another volunteer musician or vocalist to our monthly rotation of entertainment for residents in our memory care assisted living facility. This could be just once a month, every other week or weekly for 45 mins-1 hour. 

We are looking for a volunteer pastor to come lead a short Bible study or church service once a month, or as able, at Kingston at DuPont. We are very flexible with scheduling!  

A Baby's Closet needs volunteer interpreters who are fluent in Spanish, Burmese, Pashto, or Haitian Creole. Fold plastic grocery sacks in the comfort of your easy chair in front of the TV! We are helping the USPS prepare for their annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive scheduled for the second Saturday in May. Catholic Charities in Fort Wayne is looking for volunteer drivers to help provide transportation to our refugee clients.  Many of our refugee clients do not have access to transportation, making it difficult to run errands such as going to the grocery store or the bank, going to job interviews, or even going to the gym. As a volunteer driver, you can have a positive impact on our refugee clients as they settle into the Fort Wayne community.  The schedule is based on when volunteers are available to provide round trip transportation. The volunteer would use their own personal vehicle and gas.

Distribute sack lunches in a designated area. This is a rewarding project as the clients really appreciate it. You drive your own vehicle and work in teams of two per car, go to each house on your list and distribute the lunches.

Hospice patients with dementia symptoms benefit greatly from having a fidget blanket. A fidget blanket is a lap-size quilt (24x24) which provides sensory and tactile stimulation for the restless hands of someone with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia.

We are seeking a Bilingual Translator to interpret legal documents, housing applications, marketing materials, and other documents as requested, making sure to maintain their original meaning, format, and tone. To be successful in this volunteer role, you should have a keen eye for detail and be fluent in at least two languages (including English). The volunteer will provide ready-to-use translated content that meets our internal and external needs and helps us reach a broader audience.

Roles & Duties:

Read given material and convert text from one language to one or more

Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone

Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling, and punctuation accuracy

Follow up with YWCA team members to ensure translation meets their needs

Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g., font and structure)

Our energetic and dedicated Adult Volunteers contribute their time and talent to assist zoo guests and provide operational support.

The zoo’s Adult Volunteer Program includes two tiers: Basic and Ambassador. All new applicants begin at the Basic level. You can then choose to take more training and add a wider range of duties to your volunteer activities.

We are looking for a few people who love to talk with others and who are comfortable talking to people on the phone. We want to connect with the families of our patients. 

You could do this weekly or bi-weekly for a few hours each time.

We would provide support and training. The calls would be made from our main office at 2720 Dupont Commerce Ct. Fort Wayne, IN 46825

Healthier Moms and Babies provides services, support, and education to our most vulnerable neighbors so they can have successful pregnancies and create healthier futures. You can help the families in our community by helping distribute diapers at our Hopper Events (Mobile Diaper Distribution). 

Hopper Event locations vary, we visit anywhere from 6-9 locations per month. Hopper events happen rain or shine, please dress accordingly and wear close toed shoes. You will he helping distribute diapers to community members. Diaper boxes can require you to lift up to 30 lbs.

We have several trees in our woods that we would like to have cut up and stacked so that we can use the wood for fires. This project could be done anytime between now and May.

Warehouse Support shifts included loading the Hopper (Mobile Diaper Delivery Van) for upcoming outreach events and gathering staff diapers for the month. This task can be done individually, in pairs, or in a small group. All of the needed tools and instructions will be provided.

The Diaper Warehouse is not climate controlled and can be quite dusty.
Please wear comfortable clothes and closed-toed shoes.
May require lifting boxes up to 30 lbs.
