Volunteer: LTC Volunteer Ombudsman CertificationTrain to be a Long Term Care Volunteer Ombudsman! Training consist of 4 hours; including a shadow with a current Volunteer Ombudsman in a nursing home. All Volunteer Ombudsman visit 1 nursing home 2 times per month with a suggestion of 4 hours per month. We work with the volunteer to choose a nursing home that would be convenient; i.e. close to home or work. Volunteers can visit any day or time that they choose. Volunteers follow up with nursing home residents to ensure that their needs are being met. Building relationships with those living in the nursing home is key. There are 4 mandatory training sessions per year; which keeps the volunteer certified through the Indiana State Ombudsman office. Someone living in a nursing home would love a visit from you!
