Looking for a fun and easy way to get involved in welcoming visitors to our community? We’re seeking volunteers to support the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association during their upcoming International Convention at the Grand Wayne Center!

Volunteers will assist at registration, helping welcome attendees as they arrive. Duties include checking names and handing out registration bags, making this a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys meeting new people and being part of a well-run event.

Whether you’re an event pro or just looking to lend a hand, we’d love your support. We have 3 shifts left to fill on Friday, July 17th; Sign up today to be part of the action!

We will be pinning, sewing, surging, ironing and packing washed pillowcases to deliver.

Please bring everything you use to sew at home.  We provide the fabric, 2 cutting and 2 ironing stations. If you own a serger please bring it instead of your machine.  

Bring your friends who do not sew, they will be tasked with pinning kits and ironing cases. Many hands make light work.

June 20th, 930-330 pm. Come when you can and leave when you need to.  Bring your lunch or pop out and return. Set up starts at 905am.

Shelter volunteers assist with tasks that help with the day-to-day functioning of the shelter. Tasks can include things like preparing food for the food pantry, laundry, cleaning dishes or kennels, walking animals or providing other enrichment, along with other tasks as needed. Shelter volunteers are assigned tasks upon completion of orientation.

The National Airmail Museum is a new attraction being planned for Fort Wayne. The museum will be housed in the (soon-to-be) renovated 1930's-era "Hangar 2" on the east side of Smith Field. The museum will look back at the National Airmail Service--and the important role Fort Wayne served for the service. The museum will also feature local residents who played very important roles in aviation over the years and decades. In addition to looking back, the museum will also look forward to the future of aviation, by offering interactive exhibits--such as a "drone zone," simulators and various displays and activities that introduce visitors to the ever-expanding field of aviation. The museum was approved and authorized by official decree of the U.S. Congress.

As our project continues to develop and grow, we are in need of a Treasurer for our Board. Briefly, the Treasurer position involves five general responsibilities, which are: 1) Financial Oversight and Record Keeping (maintain financial records; manage/reconcile bank statements; management of the organization's financial accounts); 2) Budgeting and Planning (lead the annual budget preparation process; monitor income/expenses against the budget and advise the Board accordingly); 3) Reports (prepare and present a concise Treasurer's Report at each Board meeting; prepare annual financial statements for our annual report); 4) Compliance and Tax (ensure the timely filing of all required tax documents and state/federal non-profit reports; ensure the organization secures and maintains proper insurance coverage); 5) Fund Management (oversee/manage restricted funds to assure they are properly utilized; manage endowment and/or long-term accounts).

This position seeks someone who has knowledge of/experience with accounting/bookkeeping/finance and who has proficiency with accounting software, as well as Excel and Word. The candidate needs to also exemplify integrity, with unquestionable ethics and a commitment to transparency. We also seek a candidate who has a passion for the mission of the museum and its goals.

This office involves a three-year term. The board meetings are held monthly (at the terminal building at Smith Field) and are usually 2 to 2 1/2 hours in length. Completion of the other tasks specific to this office will require 4 - 8 hours per month. Additional time will be needed during budget and tax seasons.

This position seeks someone who is highly organized, able to concisely document the discussions/information presented during the board meetings and handle matters professionally. We also seek a candidate who has a passion for the mission of the museum and its goals.

A hospice patient companion volunteer is someone who provides non-medical, compassionate support to people receiving hospice care, typically near the end of life. Their primary role is to offer presence, comfort, and emotional support to patients and sometimes their families.

What They Do:

They do not provide medical care, administer medications, or perform clinical duties.

We are looking for someone to share their musical talents with our hospice patients and families. Currently, this would mean going into someone's home or a nursing facility (nursing home or assisted living facility) with a mask on and playing music. Patients enjoy music and would love for you to share your talent with them! We'd love to have you join our team.

These supportive efforts help maintain a warm, organized setting for patients, families, and the care team.

From time to time, Heart to Heart Hospice cares for patients who don’t have family close by, or whose loved ones need to step away briefly but don’t want them to be alone during their final moments. We are looking for someone with a flexible schedule who can sit with a patient near the end of life, offering comfort simply through their presence. This role is best suited for a compassionate individual who is comfortable providing support and presence during the end-of-life journey.

Afterward, stay with us as we get some light stretching and movement to get us started on our beautiful Saturday morning. Volunteers can assist by helping residents gather and engage in this uplifting experience.

Heart to Heart Hospice serves Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley counties.

At Heart to Heart Hospice, we know there are different ways to
show care for our terminally ill patients, and sometimes we are
able to involve a very special pet. Pets, through animal-assisted
therapy, provide faithful companionship, comfort and affection.

How can they interact with hospice patients?

•Sitting quietly near a patient, so the patient can enjoy their presence
•Playing fetch with a patient, going after a ball or toy
•Being talked to, petted, or held, per patient preference
•Enjoying performing tricks, such as 'roll over' 'sit' or 'shaking hands'

There are proven benefits to hospice pet therapy for those at
the end-of-life. Benefits can include:

•Reducing blood pressure
•Helping reduce physical pain
•Providing calm, with a relaxing and understanding presence
•Promoting improved heart rate and cardiovascular health
•Increasing overall comfort
•Helping facilitate range of motion and strength
•Reducing feelings of loneliness, depression, agitation, and anxiety

Work with children ages 5-14 to complete homework tasks, play games, complete a craft or just chat at one of our three youth centers.  This includes Weisser Youth Center, McMillen Community Center, and Jennings center.

The Weisser Youth center serves meals every day to the after school program participants. Assistant is needed to help heat food and serve the children meals.  The menus are created and coordinated with the Kid's cafe program.

Monday -Friday   

The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Weisser Youth Center and Jennings center are teaming up with the Fort Wayne Fishing Club to learn the skills of fishing.  This include pole setup ,  baiting the hook, casting, reeling, taking fish off and minor repairs and de-tangling.  We are looking for 6-8 adults to assist the fishing club and staff during the four 75-90 minutes sessions

The Audio Reading Service provides audio access to printed information for listeners of all ages who have visual, physical, learning, or language disabilities or conditions that prevent them from reading printed materials. 

We record more than 65 different programs, including readings from over 130 newspapers, magazines, and other sources. These recordings are available to listeners via broadcast on radio, TV, and online.

Audio Description (AD) is the practice of describing visual content for people with visual impairment or other disabilities, and is included as an important – and growing! – part of many of our programs.

As a Volunteer Audio Description (AD) Writer, you will write vivid, accurate descriptions of cover art, photographs, illustrations, and infographics in magazines and other materials for our volunteers to read aloud. These descriptions provide valuable access to visual information that helps listeners fully understand and experience the publications they love.

You will receive training to learn AD industry best practices for writing descriptions of visual images. You will work from digital and physical copies of publications, and conduct light research as needed for best accuracy. Written descriptions will be submitted for review and revisions, and ongoing training and quality review sessions will be provided. Once fully trained, descriptions may be written and submitted remotely, with occasional onsite training and review.

The ideal volunteer will have:

·        A strong command of written English — clear, precise, and evocative

·        A close observer's eye for mood, composition, color, expression, and context

·        Some familiarity with photography, visual art, or illustration

This is a weekly commitment. We can work with your schedule, Mondays or Tuesdays preferred, between 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.

We can work with your schedule, Monday-Friday between 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Training will be provided.

• Become a Substitute Live Reader, reading the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette live on the air with an experienced partner. Subs receive a weekly email notification of upcoming opportunities to cover for a regular live reader’s absence. Each live broadcast opportunity is a 3-hour session that occurs on a weekday from 8:00 am - 11:00 am, or on a Saturday from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. You may select an opportunity that fits your schedule. Training includes observing and participating in live broadcasts for 2-3 mornings in a row prior to your first scheduled sub reading.

• Read and record Spanish-language programs when a regular reader is absent by becoming a Spanish-language Substitute Recorded Reader. Volunteers for these programs must be fluent in reading and speaking both Spanish and English. Subs receive a weekly email notification of upcoming opportunities to cover a program, and may select opportunities that fit your schedule and interests. Materials are read from hard copy and digital touchscreen tablet. Programs are usually 30 minutes or one hour of recording, within a 90-minute recording session timeslot. We can work with your schedule, Monday-Friday between 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Training on equipment and reading materials will be provided.

Hey all you Hope Heroes!!  It’s that time again to get together to pack meals for the hungry, specifically to feed the those in greatest need served by Feed the Hungry, out of South Bend (Impact — Feed The Hungry).  Are you in?!?  Let’s do this!!

We’ll be packing meals on Saturday, June 6th, 2026, from 9:00 until 11:00 AM at Grace Gathering Church located at 3157 Minnich Rd in New Haven. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow for the check-in process.

While there is no cost to attend, donations are welcome.  We recommend a $10 donation.  Or…think about donating the cost of a carton of meals.  That carton you will pack feed 216 children and costs just $75.  That’s a mere $.35 per meal!  What can we do without once or twice that will equal 216 meals?  Feel free to donate as many boxes as you’d like to feed those who have so little.

The Finance / Fund Development Committee ensures The Journey operates with the financial health, transparency, and sustainability needed to fulfill its mission. This committee provides financial analysis, guidance, and oversight while helping to secure the resources necessary to sustain and grow our programs and outreach.

The Program Committee provides guidance, oversight, and innovation for all Journey programs. This committee ensures that each program fulfills the organization’s mission—to support young adults ages 14–26 in developing emotional stability, practical life skills, and healthy relationships through mentorship, community, and hands-on learning.

The committee plays a vital role in planning new initiatives, maintaining program quality, and strengthening partnerships that expand access and impact.

Any family in Allen County struggling with food insecurity is welcome to visit our food bank once every 30 days.  Each family can sit with the staff and choose their food, they will receive a choice of meat, fresh fruits and vegetables when available and we sometime have select hygiene items available.

We are looking for kind and compassionate people to help serve at our food bank Monday-Friday. Volunteers may assist with the completion of an intake with a client, gather food and hygiene items for them, and place order on table for them to take.

We serve 500+ families each month and are always looking for more help!

Imagine days—or even weeks or months—of hospital food and vending machines while your child is receiving medical care. Now, picture having a delicious, home-cooked meal with healthy options and nutritious snacks. That’s the impact you can make as a meal volunteer at Hope’s Harbor!

As a meal volunteer, you will purchase the ingredients and prepare a meal for our guests. Whether you come as a family or with friends, coworkers, classmates, or teammates, preparing a meal for our guests is a meaningful and rewarding experience. You can choose to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner, either in our beautiful gourmet kitchen or by bringing food from a commercial kitchen or restaurant. 

Volunteers typically cook for 12–15 people at our Lutheran location and 10-12 people at our Dupont location. We don’t require you to accommodate specific dietary needs, guests are always welcome to prepare something else from the pantry if needed.

We’re looking for someone to help care for and maintain our flower gardens throughout the growing season. Now that the flowers are planted, we are seeking a volunteer who can stop by regularly—ideally weekly—to help keep the garden beds healthy, tidy, and thriving. Responsibilities may include watering, weeding, trimming and pruning, deadheading flowers, mulching, seasonal cleanup, and general garden upkeep.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being outdoors, has a love for gardening, and is comfortable working independently with routine garden care. Flexible scheduling is available, but consistency is especially helpful to keep the gardens looking their best.

Oh, and if you’re wondering, a sidepath is just a fancy name for a two-way trail that runs right along the road-think bikes, joggers, and dog-walkers all sharing the lane.

Here’s what you’d be doing as a Greenway Ranger:

Assist in organizing event decor including but not limited to linens, florals, center pieces, and other items stored in our warehouse location. Also, assist with packing and unpacking rental orders. Pickup returned orders from the Gown Garden and take to warehouse for unpacking. This could include lifting, folding linens, organizing items, sorting, inventorying, etc.  Hours are flexible.

Seeking someone to join our team to focus on our Create for a Cause projects. Over the years, we have accumulated craft supplies and would like to share our surplus supplies with organizations who would be able to recycle the items into something creative.  We also hold our own events where we gather crafters to help make items so that they can be donated to those in need.  Duties would include but be limited to organizing events and finding agencies who are in need of our surplus craft supplies. At the Gown Garden, assist customers in finding affordable formal wear, semi-formal wear, jewelry, shoes and other items. Assist brides with finding their 'Say YES to the Dress' gown and accessories. Assist with basic boutique upkeep including incoming donations. Help as needed with special events throughout the year. Hours are flexible.

We are looking for volunteer drivers that will help get clients to and from their chemo and radiation appointments.  You do not have to stay with the client. Volunteers will use their own vehicle to transport. DRIVERS ARE NEEDED IN ALL ZIP CODES in Northeast Indiana counties; Allen, Adams, DeKalb, Noble, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties. This does not mean you have to drive in all 11 counties. Hello! We are looking to teach a few individuals on how to install memorial bricks, which pave the sidewalk to our building. These bricks are purchased by individuals who would like to honor their loved ones who lost their battle to cancer. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED AND NO HEAVY LABOR! We have all the tools you will need.

This volunteer project can be completed during or after business hours, and installations happen approximately three to four times a year, depending on the need.

We are looking for volunteers at our Cheers for Wishes event. At Cheers for Wishes, you'll hear inspiring wish stories and help bring hope, strength, and joy to kids through the power of the wish. Our team needs volunteers to assist with light setup, registration, accepting donations, and light cleanup.

Parking: The most convenient parking can be found in the free lot directly west of The Pearl Event Center and the paid STAR Financial Bank parking garage off of Maiden Lane. Both the venue and the garage are new construction so they may not be accurately represented on your map street view. Our staff has always parked at the free lot next to The Pearl and never had an issue with space availability. 

First Thursday of each month from 10:00 am to Noon

Volunteer with us to keep our wildlife safe and our preserves clean.  We'll be picking up trash along Engle Road on the 1st Thursday of each month, from 10 am - Noon.  Wear close-toed shoes and long pants.  We'll provide safety vests, gloves, trash bags, trash grabbers and snacks!  Meet us at the Gateway (gravel) Parking Lot at 6801 Engle Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 and help make a difference in your community!

New moms may choose a homemade knitted or crocheted blanket when visiting A Baby's Closet.  Size approximately 30" by 36".  Moms and their babies love these blankets. Show your creativity! Blankets can be delivered to Associated Churches, 602 E. Wayne St, Fort Wayne, on Monday-Thursday from 8-3 pm and Fri from 8-12.

A Baby's Closet helps families experiencing hardship by providing baby items to safely take care of their children.  Moms earn coupons by going to pre-natal and pediatric appointments, parenting education, and continuing their education. 

Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 9:00 am - noon or 10 am - 1 pm. A Baby's Closet needs help getting the store ready for customers. This includes counting baby clothing items, hanging clothes, and putting outfits together. If you love baby clothes, you will love this opportunity.

Wednesday evenings (the second and fourth each month), Journey Beside Mothers hosts events for moms to attend. Our Great Moms Club is open to any mom and childcare is needed for preschool aged children while we offer the moms community, enrichment and support. The childcare will be from 5:50 pm- 7:30 pm. A light meal will be provided. A background check is required. We welcome ages 16+ to volunteer.

Meet and assist families with babies and young children at A Baby's Closet (ABC).  As an ABC, volunteer, you will greet families and provide customer service to our clients.  Volunteers should possess a cooperative, loving attitude and be able to work closely with staff, other volunteers, and customers.  You may choose to volunteer weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly. Volunteers must first meet with the ABC Director or the Volunteer Coordinator before volunteering. (How does ABC work? ABC provides essential baby items to mothers who receive prenatal care, attend childbirth classes, take their children to well-child appointments, and keep immunizations up-to-date.  Coupons are received from service providers to be used for items at ABC.)

The House of Pins is a uniquely inclusive recreational space, operated entirely by dedicated volunteers. As the only private sensory-friendly recreational venue with both a bowling alley and a sensory room, we offer a range of adaptive amenities designed to support individuals with diverse disabilities. We offer monthly community outreach events. Canvas and Cupcakes is a monthly Saturday event designed for our guests to express their creativity. Join us for a morning of guided painting for all abilities to shine and of course don't forget the delicious cupcakes to refuel us! Volunteers are needed to encourage and assist our guests.

This role is centered around something simple but meaningful: being there for our guests. Our families are walking through long, often overwhelming days at the hospital, and coming back to a warm, welcoming space (and a kind, helpful person) can make all the difference.

Care & Comfort Crew volunteers are that presence. Greeting guests, helping answer questions, light cleaning or cooking, lending a hand where needed, and just creating a sense of calm and care throughout the home. It’s less about big tasks and more about being there, whenever they need someone. 

Shifts are 4 hours (8am–12pm or 12pm–4pm), Monday–Friday, and we’re hoping for a weekly or bi-monthly commitment. If you’re interested in serving but need a small adjustment to one of these timeframes, we still encourage you to apply — we’re happy to explore whether a consistent alternative can work.

Dinner Pick Up Driver

This volunteer will graciously donate 1-2 hours of time and the fuel needed to pick up restaurant provided meals that are located a few miles from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Indiana. To be a dinner delivery driver, you must have proof of a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and you must log your hours through Volunteer Center to be covered by their insurance. Supplemental liability insurance is offered by both RMHC and Volunteer Center. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Indiana will gladly work with volunteers during inclement weather. The safety of our volunteers is very important.

Pickups are on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.  We also have pick up opportunities every other month on the first Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. and the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 a.m.

Classes:

Volunteers are invited to share their talents by teaching a new skill to our guests. Whether you have experience in crocheting, cross-stitching, scrapbooking, or another creative or practical skill, we welcome the opportunity for you to lead a class.

Teaching a skill not only provides a meaningful activity but also empowers our guests, builds confidence, and fosters a sense of community. Volunteers should be patient, encouraging, and prepared to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for all participants.

Help is needed on Monday and Tuesday mornings 8 am - 12 pm, assisting with front desk responsibilities. Volunteer can choose to work one day or both. Duties include answering phones, allowing guests access into the building, distributing medication, and supporting the distribution of hygiene items as needed.

This role also involves actively assisting guests with their needs while maintaining a professional, welcoming, and positive demeanor. A pleasant and approachable attitude is essential to ensure guests feel supported and respected at all times.

House of Pins offers a unique experience for people of all abilities. Each month we offer a adult music jam session. Guests will be exploring time with various instruments and ending with a musical game. Volunteers are needed to provide support to each guest, offering encouragement and inviting participation. Prompting, redirecting and being interactive with the guests.

The Wellspring Shoppe is a clothing boutique that supplies free clothing to over 3,500 individuals a year. We receive donations year-round and need help sorting and stocking our boutique and also helping with clients as they shop in our boutique.  This is a great opportunity for anyone that loves organizing, fashion and customer service! 

The Shoppe hours are Mondays from 10:00am-2:00pm, Tuesdays from 2:30-6:00pm, Thursdays from 10:00am-2:00pm, and the second Saturday of each month from 9:00am-1:00pm.  You can help for just an hour or two, or for the whole 4 hours.  You can volunteer as much or little as you would like to and still make a difference.

Our mobile food pantry (Wellspring on Wheels) serves every Tues/Thurs/Fri from 10am-12pm at pre selected sites around the county. This is a opportunity to volunteer as much or little as you want while still making a difference.

We are looking for kind and compassionate people to help serve the food insecure. Volunteers will help bag food for clients and help with set- up and tear down of the mobile food pantry.

The Children's Needs Closet Organizer will assist with the regular upkeep of our residential needs, clothing, and/or linen closets. Responsibilities may be shared among more than one volunteer.

Volunteers that are Veterans visit hospice patients that are also Veterans. Patient's may live in an Extended Care Facility, community hospital, or in personal residence. Volunteers may choose to visit patients in Columbia City, Fort Wayne, Huntington, Wabash, Auburn, Angola, Kendallville, LaGrange and the surrounding communities in Northeast Indiana. Volunteers provide companionship to patients or their caregivers, sit with a patient so the caregiver can leave home for a short time and assist with pinning ceremonies to honor veterans.

Requirements: Orientation & training through Parkview Hospice, willing to complete background check, 18 years or older, complete occupational health requirements, and provide necessary documentation required for program.

Tasks may include talking, reading, listening and providing emotional support to the hospice patient and family. Volunteers with special interests may record videos of patients sharing their life stories, entertain a patient by playing a musical instrument, do yard work, light house cleaning, put up holiday decorations or have a license or certificate to provide special care to patients. Vigil Volunteers visit patients that are nearing death.
