Monday and/or Tuesday mornings from 8:00 am - 11:30 am, A Baby's Closet needs help getting the store ready for customers. This includes counting baby clothing items, hanging clothes, and putting outfits together. 

Join us on another short hike to identify and collect seed heads of a few native plant species. Use these seeds to start your own native habitat in your backyard or help restore our preserves by growing plants with us. Either way, our wild community wins! Please dress appropriately for the weather. The event will be cancelled in the event of rain. We'll provide supplies and instruction. Meet at the Towpath Trailhead off of Glendale Rd. Carpool if you can as there is limited parking.

Wednesday evenings (the second and fourth each month), Journey Beside Mothers hosts events for moms to attend. Our Great Moms Club is open to any mom and childcare is needed for preschool aged children while we offer the moms community, enrichment and support. The childcare will be from 5:50 - 7:30. A light meal will be provided. A background check is required. We welcome ages 16+ to volunteer. 

Meet and assist families with babies and young children at A Baby's Closet (ABC).  As a volunteer at ABC, you will greet families and provide customer service to our clients.  Volunteers should possess a cooperative, loving attitude and be able to work closely with staff, other volunteers, and customers.  You may choose to volunteer weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly. Volunteers must first meet with the ABC Director or the Volunteer Coordinator before volunteering. (How does ABC work? ABC provides essential baby items to mothers and fathers who receive education about nutrition, parenting, and prenatal care.  Coupons are received from service providers to be used for items at ABC.)

New moms may choose a homemade knitted or crocheted blanket when visiting A Baby's Closet.  Size approximately 30" by 36".  Moms and their babies love these blankets. Show your creativity! Blankets can be delivered to Associated Churches, 602 E. Wayne St, Fort Wayne, on Monday-Thursday from 8-3 pm and Fri from 8-12.

A Baby's Closet helps families experiencing hardship by providing baby items to safely take care of their children.  Moms earn coupons by going to pre-natal and pediatric appointments, parenting education, and continuing their education.

This is a great way to support us at Little River Wetlands Project and a local brewery. This is an all-ages venue, so children are welcome. If you don't enjoy beer, that's okay, they have plenty of good food and non-alcoholic beverages too.

Volunteer with us to keep our wildlife safe and our preserves clean. We'll be picking up trash along Engle Road on the first Thursday of each month from 10 am - Noon.  Please wear close-toed shoes and long pants. We'll provide safety vests, gloves, trash bags, trash grabbers, and snacks. This program is unsuitable for children under 15 by themselves, but they can participate if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Cleanup will be canceled if it's raining. Meet us at Eagle Marsh East, at 5013 Engle Rd, which is the next turn-in after passing Hempton Roast Coffee on Engle Road.  Help make a difference in your community!

Help us restore our marsh with hydrophilic native plants that support pollinators! The area we're planting in is along the Eagle Marsh Barn Lane. We'll meet at the beige barn at the end of the gravel lane at 6801 Engle Rd. Come ready to dig in the marsh!

Lutheran Life Villages sponsors and hosts the Rock Steady Boxing Program.  The mission of Rock Steady Boxing is to equip our affiliates and empower the coaches to improve the quality of life of people with Parkinson’s disease through a non-contact, boxing-based fitness curriculum.

Help decorate the Safety Village for the Annual Halloween Bash.   Two afternoons will be open for volunteers to come and help out.  If you can come one day that's great, if you can come both days that's wonderful too!  We will be hanging cob webs and placing decorations around the village.  We might also do some pumpkin decorating.  Make sure you wear comfy clothes and shoes.  

As a volunteer, you and another individual will be caring for 2-4 children infant-10 years of age. This allows several of our women to have time to attend Bible Study every Tuesday evening. 

(Because of the sensitive nature of the work we do we do hold a women-only environment. )

The Audio Reading Service's target audience is listeners of all ages who have visual, physical, learning, or language challenges to reading traditional print.  Articles are read and recorded in our studios.

We broadcasts the recorded readings of news and information from over 68 publications! 

Our current opportunities include:

• Current, up-to-date local news is our focus, and most important to our listeners! Read the Journal Gazette live, with a volunteer partner. We have two openings: on Monday mornings or Wednesday mornings. The time commitment: 8:00 am -11:00 am.

• Keep listeners up to date on the latest headlines from the US and around the world by reading The Wall Street Journal. This program is read from a digital touchscreen tablet. This is a weekly commitment for a 90-minute reading timeslot. We can work with your schedule, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.

• Lea “El Mexicano y Más”. Con el lema “el respeto al derecho ajeno es la paz”, en su periódico y sitio web, El Mexicano cubre noticias locales, nacionales y mundiales, e información para nuestra comunidad hispanohablante. Make a Difference in a Child’s Life – Become a CASA Volunteer

The Allen County CASA Program recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the court system. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers get to know the child, gather information, and make recommendations to the court about what is in the child’s best interest.

As a CASA volunteer, you’ll be a consistent and supportive presence for a child navigating the foster care system. You’ll help the child understand what’s happening in their case and ensure their voice is heard among a sea of professionals-lawyers, caseworkers, doctors, and judges.

Your advocacy helps judges make informed decisions so children can be placed in safe, permanent homes as quickly as possible. Beyond court, CASA volunteers often support educational needs, encourage goals, and serve as positive role models. This is more than volunteering, it’s a chance to change a child’s life, and your own.

Assist in organizing event decor including but not limited to linens, florals, center pieces, and other items stored in our warehouse location. Also, assist with packing, prepping, and pickup/returns of decor rental items. This could include lifting, folding linens, organizing, sorting, inventorying, etc. Work can be done in either The Gown Garden (From This Day Forward) or the warehouse. 

At the Gown Garden, assist customers in finding affordable formal wear, semi-formal wear, jewelry, shoes and other items. Assist brides with trying on gowns and finding accessories. Assist with basic shop maintenance. Assist with incoming donations and helping as needed with special events throughout the year.

Whether you come as a family or with friends, coworkers, classmates, or teammates, preparing a meal for our guests is a meaningful and rewarding experience. You can choose to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner, either in our beautiful gourmet kitchen or by bringing food from a commercial kitchen or restaurant.

Our pantry is fully stocked, and you’re welcome to use any available items to help prepare your meal. Volunteers typically cook for 10–15 people at our Lutheran location and 6–8 people at our Dupont location. While we don’t require you to accommodate specific dietary needs, guests are always welcome to prepare something else from the pantry if needed.

We are in need of food pantry help! Especially Thursdays!

Each Monday (12:00-3:00), Tuesday (9:00-12:00) and Thursday (12:00-3:00), we operate a food pantry. We have seen a major increase in families coming through our doors. We are in need of people to help us distribute to families. You can volunteer for as many or as little hours as you'd like. You can bring your group or even volunteer alone. This process consists of walking customers through our pantry with a shopping cart and helping them make choices.  We'd love to know ahead of time however, if you're in the area, stop in and we'll put you to work :)

Did you know? 190 times a day, American Red Cross volunteers help a family that has lost everything in a disaster. Right here in Indiana, there are 2-3 home fires daily. Other disasters can also occur at any time and at any place affecting our communities.

The Wild Zoo Halloween event starts in October on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays –10/3-5; 10-12; 17-19; and 24-26. 

Shifts are 10:00 AM-12:30 PM or 12:30-3 PM. We need 25-30 volunteers for each shift (must be at least 13 years of age). We have spots for handing out treats, a pumpkin patch, games/hay maze.

If you like to drive, this is the opportunity for you! We're looking for volunteers willing to transport supplies and materials across the region. We need volunteer  to be on call when there is a need! Deliveries can take 15 minutes or four hours. They will vary due to upcoming needs. Some routes will be planned on a schedule but others will occur based on needs that pop up. 

A Red Cross vehicle and gas card will be available to you for this position after a Motor Vehicle Report is run and a brief, online, drivers safety training course is complete.

Providing transportation assistance for the American Red Cross. Volunteers will be delivering or picking up supplies and materials across the Indiana Region.

Turnstone Center—in partnership with World ParaVolley (WPV), Visit Fort Wayne, and the City of Fort Wayne—will host the 2025 WPV Sitting Volleyball World Cup from October 12–18, 2025.  This prestigious international event will bring nearly 500 athletes, officials, and delegates from 17 countries to northeast Indiana. It will mark the first time the Sitting Volleyball World Cup is hosted in the United States. The 2025 WPV Sitting Volleyball World Cup features both men’s and women’s divisions, with up to 24 national teams (16 men’s and 8 women’s) competing at Turnstone’s state-of-the-art Plassman Athletic Center.  Volunteers are needed as Ambassadors, Team and Volunteer Check in, Dining Attendants, Ticket Sales, Court Monitors and much, much more!

By providing a range of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, canned goods, and dairy products, our food pantry aims to alleviate the pressures of accessing healthy food for neighbors in Huntington County. Volunteers assist with the day-to-day activities of the pantry, ensuring a welcoming, well stocked, and hygienic shopping experience. Some Food Pantry volunteers also assist with the collection of food from local donation organizations. 

This particular opening is available on Thursdays from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. for a volunteer to serve weekly in this capacity.

Volunteers of the United With Love Food Pantry assist neighbors with the selection of food products for their households. By providing a range of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, canned goods, and dairy products, our food pantry aims to alleviate the pressures of accessing healthy food for neighbors in Huntington County. The United with Love mobile unit travels to Roanoke on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 5-6 pm for food appointments. Volunteer help is needed to load the truck with food in our food pantry, take the truck with food to our neighbors in Roanoke in the parking lot of Seminary United Methodist Church, 285 Seminary Street, and then bring any remaining items back to the food pantry in the truck. 

Volunteers of the United With Love Food Pantry mobile unit assist neighbors with the selection of food products for their households. By providing a range of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, canned goods, and dairy products, our food pantry aims to alleviate the pressures of accessing healthy food for neighbors in Huntington County.

This particular opening is available on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 4-6:30 pm for a volunteer to serve twice a month in this capacity.

We are in need of volunteers to decorate their cars in a family fun fashion at our Trunk or Treat.  Families are welcome to volunteer together.  It is always fun to serve as a family or community.  We will set up the cars in the grass field next to Shepherd of the City church.  The families will walk through the cars to collect candy or other kid safe goodies.  We have had groups passout socks and pj's as well.  The more volunteers we have, the more exciting the event will be.  

During this time we will also be hosting a health fair across the street at the Shepherd's Hand Community Outreach Center.  Families can pick up free diapers, have their blood pressure checked, and recieve their flu shots.

By providing a range of fresh fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, canned goods, and dairy products, our food pantry aims to alleviate the pressures of accessing healthy food for neighbors in Huntington County. Volunteers assist with the day-to-day activities of the pantry; ensuring a welcoming, well stocked, and hygienic shopping experience. Some Food Pantry Volunteers also assist with the collection of food from local donation organizations. 

Our food pantry volunteers are asked to commit to serving weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly for 2-4 hours. Days and hours are flexible depending on the nature of the position and your availability.

Volunteer opportunities are available Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:30 am - 5 pm and Wednesday and Friday 9:30 am - 1 pm.

JA provides all the training, materials, and support—you bring your enthusiasm and life experience.  You don’t need to be a teacher—just someone who wants to make a difference.

Standard Delivery In-School Volunteer:  These volunteers visit a class once a week to deliver the JA program. The number of visits vary depending on the grade level, usually 5-7 visits for 30-45 minutes each. Classes run from Pre-K through 12th grade. Training and materials are provided.

JA In A Day Event Volunteer:  These volunteers deliver the JA program, all sessions in one morning. The entire school has JA volunteers in every classroom. It is a one day only commitment for 4-5 hours. Dates are set up with the schools in advance. Training and materials are provided beforehand.

Before their arrival at Lincoln Finance Park, students are prepared in the classroom to participate in a carefully designed simulation that closely resembles real-life budget planning. While visiting, each student will become an adult for the day. All students will be responsible for planning a monthly budget for themselves and their fictional families.  Volunteers will provide guidance to the students as they plan their budgets. Volunteers who offer to assist must participate in an on-site training 30 minutes prior to student arrival on the day of the simulation. This training provides volunteers with the opportunity to understand the in-class program as well as the on-site schedule and procedures. They will gain knowledge and experience about their role in assisting the students. We have volunteer openings for the 2025-2026 school year, contact JA for open dates. 

JA BizTown® combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to our simulated town. This popular learning experience allows elementary school students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. Volunteering is a one day commitment that includes an on-site training one hour prior to student arrival. Each volunteer will then be assigned a business where they will assist a group of 4-10 students throughout their work tasks and responsibilities. We’re looking for a passionate and knowledgeable gardener to take the lead in planning and maintaining our garden spaces. This role is ideal for someone interested in leading a fruit and vegetable garden, but some flower planting and planning can also be incorporated. The Lead Gardener will decide what to plant, where, and when, and will create a seasonal care schedule that outlines tasks like watering, weeding, pruning, and harvesting. Once a plan is in place, additional volunteers will be recruited to help carry it out, with the Lead Gardener providing guidance and support. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys both the creative and practical sides of gardening and wants to help our garden thrive year-round. 

**We understand it may be late in the season for much planting, but we’re open to any remaining seasonal tasks and welcome planning ahead for next year’s garden.

Assist with washing, drying and folding rented linens. Linens can be washed onsite at The Gown Garden  They can also be taken home to be washed and returned. Totes are available to be used.

Girls on the Run Northeast Indiana is looking for volunteers for its end of season final 5K celebration.  The event will take place on Sunday November 23rd at Shoaff Park in Fort Wayne, IN.  The festivities begin at 1:00pm with the 5K kicking off at 3:00pm. 

We are looking for individuals to help with set up, clean up, managing the water station, and placing medals on finishers.  We also need volunteers to staff our pre-5K activities including happy hair, bling your bib, friendship bracelets, and inspiration station.  All materials will be provided for you.

Power House is a Christian youth center in New Haven that offers after school programming for 7th-12th grade students.  We offer a healthy snack, homework help, life skills classes, free time for the youth, and then provide dinner for the students every night.  Volunteers would engage with students, having conversations with them, and engage in the activities that are taking place.  We are searching for volunteers that would be able to commit to 1 afternoon a week, or every other week.

The volunteer process is fairly simple.  There is a short application, and 2 hour training for new volunteers.  Since we work directly with youth, there is a background check that will be completed as well.

We welcome your assistance in keeping our Saturday weekly YLNI Summer Farmer's Market running smoothly and looking good! Volunteers would help wipe down tables, check on and empty trash cans, offer water to our musicians and supporting police officers. We hope to continue each Saturday outside through the end of October so dress according for the weather. It's a great way to be outdoors with community and find some great goodies along the way! Our nonprofit learning center (located in northwest Fort Wayne) is in need of a regular (weekly or biweekly) visit from a plant-loving volunteer.  We’re looking for someone from April through October who has experience with pruning, light weeding, and giving advice on keeping our outdoor environment looking its best.  Garden tools & supplies provided onsite. We are in need of a volunteer who can help with scanning, filing and calling patients to remind them of their appointments. If you can speak Spanish that is an added bonus! Hours are flexible, Monday through Friday, either morning or afternoon, 3-4 hour shifts. 

Our annual Coats for Kids runs November/December. All year round our volunteers knit/crochet hats and scarves to accompany the over 8,000 coats we hand out to children in need. We have donated yarn at our office that can be picked up for use with this project. Keep those hands busy while watching tv and keeping your social distance! We also accept baby blankets and lap blankets. 

Join us the first Thursday of each month (except September) at 10 am at our office, 3401 Lake Avenue, Suite 4 for fellowship with other knitters/crocheters! Bring a project to work on. Weather notes: if FWCS are closed there will be no group meeting. 

Heart to Heart Hospice is looking for a volunteer to come into our office and assist with cleaning. This would include helping clean our kitchenette, tables and floors, vacuuming, taking out the trash, and dusting. If you enjoy cleaning, this is the volunteer opportunity for you! As a Lasagna Love Chef, you will cook and deliver a lasagna entrée to your matched family on a mutually agreeable date and time. You can also offer another option in lieu of lasagna so the family can choose but that’s up to you.

Cleaning out and discarding unusable items

Keeping detailed inventory to send to staff

Communicating supply needs to staff

Responsible for following all established policies and procedures

Abide by the YWCA Northeast Indiana Code of Conduct, Non-Interference Policy

Maintain client and staff confidentiality

The Empowerment Boutique Coordinator will be responsible for the regular upkeep of the Empowerment Boutique, which contains the gifts and other small items that clients can earn as a part of our Environment Empowerment Program.

The Empowerment Boutique Coordinator must demonstrate a commitment to serving YWCA NEIN’s clients and upholding the YWCA mission.

This is an on-site volunteer position. Lifting of heavy boxes may be required.

Volunteers that are Veterans visit hospice patients that are also Veterans. Patient's may live in an Extended Care Facility, community hospital, or in personal residence. Volunteers may choose to visit patients in Columbia City, Fort Wayne, Huntington, Wabash, Auburn, Angola, Kendallville, LaGrange and the surrounding communities in Northeast Indiana. Volunteers provide companionship to patients or their caregivers, sit with a patient so the caregiver can leave home for a short time and assist with pinning ceremonies to honor veterans.

Requirements: Orientation & training through Parkview Hospice, willing to complete background check, 18 years or older, complete occupational health requirements, and provide necessary documentation required for program.

Tasks may include talking, reading, listening and providing emotional support to the hospice patient and family. Volunteers with special interests may record videos of patients sharing their life stories, entertain a patient by playing a musical instrument, do yard work, light house cleaning, put up holiday decorations or have a license or certificate to provide special care to patients. Vigil Volunteers visit patients that are nearing death.
