The Wild Zoo Halloween event starts in October on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays –10/3-5; 10-12; 17-19; and 24-26.
Shifts are 10:00 AM-12:30 PM or 12:30-3 PM. We need 25-30 volunteers for each shift (must be at least 13 years of age). We have spots for handing out treats, a pumpkin patch, games/hay maze.
Important instructions:
- Please arrive to your shift 15 minutes early and meet in the guest service building.
- Timely arrival for your shift is crucial, as we meet for assignments and instructions and then must get all volunteers into position before the event starts.
- Volunteers must serve the entire shift - it takes a fully staffed crew to ensure the event runs smoothly for our guests.
- We encourage volunteers to dress in family friendly costumes (merry not scary!), and no full-face masks or weapons are allowed!
- We typically staff 2 people per station – we’ll need 25-30 volunteers per shift each day of the event.
- This is a rain or shine event, and volunteers should dress for the weather (including cold and rain) as you’ll be outside in it (coats/hats/gloves) for the entire shift!
- Volunteers are asked to park in the Foellinger Theatre parking lot up the hill from the Zoo on Sherman, in the parking lot by Franke Pavilion #1 in the park to the left of the Zoo main entrance, or across the street from the main Zoo parking lot.
- When you arrive for your shift, report to the Guest Service building (to the right of the main front gate entrance) to access the Board Room down the hall where all volunteers will check in/check out, receive their assigned positions, and instructions for the day.
