Who We Are
What We Do
The House of Pins is a uniquely inclusive recreational space, operated entirely by dedicated volunteers. As the only private sensory-friendly recreational venue with both a bowling alley and a sensory room, we offer a range of adaptive amenities designed to support individuals with diverse disabilities. House of Pins added more outreach programs in early 2025 and when we were granted 501c3 nonprofit status. The mission of the House of Pins Adaptive Recreational Venue Company is to serve those who would not otherwise have opportunities to experience bowling and/or recreational entertainment in the traditional capacity. By providing full accessibility in a supportive environment where all diagnoses are to be left at the door, endless social opportunities arise, skills sets are strengthened, and further independence is gained. Community unity among all abilities with the goal of changing the lens to which our world sees special needs is our passion. Our mission goes far beyond recreation—we’re here to foster growth, connection, and confidence in every guest. What sets us apart isn’t just our sensory-friendly environment or unique amenities. It’s also our experience. As Executive Director, I have spent over 20 years delivering therapeutic and behavioral management services to all ages with special needs and mental health diagnoses. I also worked as a Certified Crisis Prevention Intervention Instructor for five years, equipping professionals from organizations such as the YMCA and Great Kids to work effectively with high-risk and neurodiverse populations. My husband Jason McMillan also our Operations Director, brings over five years of hands-on experience with Easter Seals, providing in-home support to individuals with disabilities. This background is central to our approach. Every activity at The House of Pins is designed not only for fun, but to encourage social development, teamwork, and problem-solving. Our goal is for guests to leave with more than just great memories but also with new friendships, greater independence, and a stronger sense of self.
