Who We Are
Out of a Jam exists to serve the community by equipping youth and working young adults with the skills they need to live sustainable and productive lives. Through our various programs, young adults thrive by learning and serving.
Out of Jam programs:
- Essentials: 8-week culinary and life skills classes for high school students. Graduates receive Serv Safe certifications and are eligible to join one or more of our employment programs.
- JAMM Food Truck: Summer sales and customer service employment for Essentials graduates.
- Feeding Fort Wayne: A Food Rescue program in which rescued and/or donated foods are turned into fully cooked and nutritious meals for the community.
- Jam Production: Students learn to make and sell unique and delicious jams
- Well Served: The catering arm of Out of a Jam is where students learn the art of professional catering.
- Feeding Fort Wayne's 'kids': A mobile after-school program designed for 8-13-year-olds who learn basic cooking skills in a fast-moving, fun environment. Participants are given food to take home and prepare with their parents.
- Shop, Cook & Eat: An interactive cooking demonstration designed to help busy parents plan, prepare, and serve delicious meals for their families quickly and cost-effectively.
