Who We Are

Who We Are

Historic Fort Wayne, Inc is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to developing a historically based education program housed in the Old Fort on Spy Run Avenue in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

What We Do

Historic Fort Wayne helps plan and present educational programs, special
events, and tours to foster interest in the history of Fort Wayne and its place in the history of the Northwest Territory, and the United States. Volunteers work behind the scenes to advance the work of the board by raising funds, writing grants, connecting with print and broadcast media, sharing our activities on social media, and developing our volunteer base.
Volunteers assist with setup for our events. They set out signage, prepare the buildings for occupancy, and set up tents. Volunteers handle registration procedures; they direct participants to their camp sites or rooms in the Fort buildings. Volunteers serve as greeters at the gate, docents, and tour guides. Volunteers can also be involved with conducting demonstrations in cooking and baking. When the event is over, volunteers help take down tents, secure buildings, and clean the grounds.
Historic Fort Wayne, Inc. is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff.  It does not receive any government funding. It relies on the local community for monetary and in-kind donations, as well as volunteers.
Please call or contact us at events@oldfortwayne.org to learn how you can help us
bring history to life.
