Who We Are

Hospice is a specialized type of care with a compassionate approach for those facing a life-limiting illness, as well as their families. Hospice care treats the whole person, with a focus on improving the quality of life that remains. At Heart to Heart Hospice, we focus on serving others by offering comfort, providing support, and preserving dignity. The Heart to Heart Hospice values are captured in Our Heart’s Desires – the 12 tenets that guide our attitude, our approach, and our actions:

Our Heart’s Desires:

  • Making a difference through compassionate care
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Providing a rapid response to all patients’ needs
  • Exhibiting professionalism at all times
  • Providing presence at the most important moments including at the journey’s end
  • Exhibiting excellence in all we do
  • Showing respect toward all others
  • Meeting or exceeding industry standards of quality care
  • Making a professional commitment to address all emotional and spiritual needs
  • Having integrity by always doing the Right Thing
  • Demonstrating dedication to our patients, families, referral sources, our company and to each other
  • Supporting each other through teamwork

We are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our patients and their families each day by enabling them to create positive memories and find peace knowing that their loved one will be well cared for at the end of life’s journey.

What We Do

Volunteers are a special part of our team, fulfilling an important role in our mission of providing compassionate care. By giving your time, you can have a significant impact on the quality of life for our patients and their loved ones.

Every Heart to Heart Hospice volunteer will receive orientation and training. Our volunteers will learn about the history of hospice, our care philosophy, patient and family rights, the dying process, safety, communication, and patient confidentiality.

Working directly with patients and their families, volunteers may:

  • visit patients, providing companionship
  • read books with patients
  • watch TV with patients
  • sing to patients
  • play music for patients
  • make phone calls or write letters for patients
  • celebrate holidays with patients
  • provide emotional/spiritual support
  • sit with patients to relieve caregivers
  • help with light housekeeping/yard work
  • provide a supportive, caring presence

In the office, volunteers may:

  • assist with filing and/or mailings
  • answer phone calls
  • make copies
  • data entry
  • put together admission packets and training materials
  • anything that helps to enrich our programs and assist our staff members.

By becoming a Heart to Heart Hospice volunteer, you can enhance the lives of so many patients and their families. Our volunteers are valued, indispensable members of our care team. We would love to have you join us!
